Story
Meet Ziggy! Ziggy is a handsome, 4 year old, 25 lb Rat Terrier / Kelpie mix who has been through more in his life than any dog should. Ziggy was found as a stray and brought into a horrible, high-kill shelter in Houston TX. He was adopted locally, and then months later ended up back in the shelter as a stray again. When they called the man who adopted him from them just months ago, they got no answer and no call back. Ziggy’s past has clearly been unstable. We rescued Ziggy and brought him to Colorado with the hope of finally giving him the stable, loving home he has always deserved...and for a while, we truly thought we had found that for him. Unfortunately, just four months after his adoption, Ziggy is being returned due to a newly discovered allergy within the household. His adopters had no idea this would be an issue, and this decision has not been made lightly. Our hearts break for Ziggy to have to go through this transition again, but he is back with our rescue and once more searching for the forever home he has been waiting for. From Ziggy's foster: * * * * "Ziggy is, at his core, a very good boy. He can be a bit shy at first with new people. But once he settles in, his personality really starts to shine. In a home environment, he is very affectionate, funny, and incredibly sweet. He loves cozy spots (especially the couch and bed!), enjoys watching the world from the window, and lives for his time outside in the yard, zooming around, playing with my dog, sunbathing, and chasing squirrels along the fence line. He’s a smart boy who already knows commands like “sit” and even how to catch treats mid-air. He thrives on activity and stimulation and will do best with an adopter who can keep both his mind and body engaged. Ziggy has shown that he can be friendly and playful with other dogs in the right setting. Off leash and in a home environment, he has done well and even thrived — he was wonderful with a tiny puppy foster we had, and loves my dog. On leash is a little different. Ziggy does not do well meeting other dogs while leashed, so he will need an adopter who understands leash management and can advocate for his space on walks. Because he does enjoy other dogs in a more natural setting, we do feel he would do best in a home with another stable, friendly dog to help him feel more secure. Since neighborhood walks aren't ideal for Ziggy, he would be best going to a home with a big yard for him to play, exercise, and potty in. Because Ziggy has experienced so much instability and change in his life, he will cry or howl when left alone. Luckily though, he is not destructive in any way. Ziggy can be trusted loose in the home when left alone, has never chewed or damaged anything, and does settle with time. Due to his vocalizing when left alone, an apartment or shared-wall living situation would not be the best fit for Ziggy. Ziggy will thrive in a calm home with someone retired, or who is a homebody. He himself is much more of a homebody who bonds deeply with his people and prefers a predictable routine. Oh and he is totally, 100% potty trained!" * * * * Ziggy is in great health and is vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm tested. He is blind in just one eye due to what appears to be an old corneal scar, but it does not cause him pain and he navigates the world just fine with his good eye. Ziggy’s story hasn’t been easy, but his potential is huge. With the right person - someone patient, loving, dog-savvy, and committed to giving him the time, structure, and love he needs - Ziggy will thrive, and deeply bond with you. He doesn’t need perfection—he just needs someone who won’t give up on him. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Ziggy in a home with someone committed to training. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a sweet pup whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Ziggy out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Ziggy is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ziggy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.

Story
Meet Boss — Fort Collins, CO 🐶🤎 Have you ever watched a shy dog slowly realize that humans can be kind? It is one of the most beautiful things to witness. Boss is a spunky, Approximately 1 year-old Rat Terrier with the most heart-melting eyes and the funniest little personality. He is approximately 10-12 lbs. He is part comedian, is learning to be cuddler, and full of potential. When Boss first arrived, he was very unsure of people. He likely never experienced gentle human touch before. But once he trusts you? He absolutely melts. He loves being rocked in a rocking chair, lightly pet, and even given little kisses on his head. He follows his foster mom everywhere and is learning how wonderful snuggly beds and couch blankets can be. He is still a bit skittish and will need someone patient who can go at his pace — but this sweet boy is SO worth it. Boss highlights: • Loves to run zoomies and laps in the yard Loves to chew on toys, sticks and pinecones • Big foodie (treat motivated!) • Hilarious, playful personality • Great with other dogs • Sleeps through the night in his kennel • Would thrive in a home with a yard and a playmate. • Not leash trained yet He is currently fostered in Fort Collins with a professional dog trainer who specializes in helping shy, unsocialized dogs gain confidence. The amazing part? She is offering a free training session to his adopter. This is not basic obedience — it is a confidence-building session designed to help you and Boss bond and help him transition successfully into your home. He would likely do well with: • A confident canine buddy (not required, but helpful!) • Older or calm children • Not sure about cats because the foster does not have any. Boss came from Oklahoma and deserves a fresh start full of patience, kindness, and safety. He is going to be incredibly loyal to his person — Rat Terriers are known for that. If you have a yard, a gentle heart, and room for a little shadow who will follow you everywhere… Boss may be your guy. Please consider giving this handsome boy his FurEver family 🤍 Apply today to meet Boss.

Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Litter of 3 (2 male, 1 female) transferred from Rebel All Breed Animal Rescue in NM. Transferred at approximately 3 months old. From the foster: Onyx (370) is a spunky, adventurous little guy with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life! He’s the ringleader of playtime with his brother - always the first to zoom around the yard, chase a toy, or start a new game. If you’re looking for a pup who will keep you smiling (and moving), Onyx is your guy. He does well with the 20 lb dog in his foster home and has been around a toddler too - though playtime has accidentally turned into a game of “who can trip who” a time or two so playtime should be supervised with small children for his safety due to his small size. He’s still learning his manners, but he’s a sweet boy who is already showing how eager he is to learn (especially when treats are involved!). Onyx isn’t quite a cuddle bug yet, but he’s starting to discover that snuggles are actually pretty great, even if he shakes at little at first. He’s making good progress with potty training, doing really well with puppy pads and regular trips outside, though he’s still working on letting you know when he needs to go. Like any teething pup, he enjoys chewing, but he’s gentle on fingers and does well when given appropriate toys. Onyx would thrive in a home ready for a playful, curious puppy who’s still learning the ropes. With a little patience, consistency, and a lot of love, he’s going to grow into an amazing companion! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

What we know: Litter of 3 (2 male, 1 female) transferred from Rebel All Breed Animal Rescue in NM. Transferred at approximately 3 months old. From the foster: Meet Lizzie 💖🐾 Tiny? Yes. Mighty? Absolutely. Lizzie may be small, but her personality is larger than life and packed with pure puppy charm. She might give you a shy hello at first—but don’t blink, because about 30 seconds later, she’s off and running like she owns the place. This girl lives for her zoomies and will happily entertain you with her playful energy and silly antics. And once she confirms she’s not on the menu 😄, she loves other dogs, even those much much bigger. When playtime winds down, Lizzie reveals her softer side—she’s a total snuggle bug who loves to curl up close and soak in all the cuddles. It’s the best of both worlds: spunky explorer and cozy companion. She’s also a smart little cookie! Lizzie is already sleeping through the night in her crate like a big girl and is eating like a champ as she grows stronger every day. Add in her love for a good stuffie to chew on, and you’ve got one happy, well-rounded pup ready to steal your heart. If you're looking for a tiny best friend with a big spirit, Lizzie is ready to wiggle her way right into your heart and your lap!💕 www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

What we know: Litter of 3 (2 male, 1 female) transferred from Rebel All Breed Animal Rescue in NM. Transferred at approximately 3 months old. From the foster: Cedar (369) is a sweet, gentle soul who’s just looking to be someone’s best friend. He’s the more laid-back, “go with the flow” brother - happy to follow the fun, play with toys, and romp around with other dogs, but just as content to check in and stay close to his people. He does well with the 20 lb dog in his foster home and has been around an energetic toddler, though playful moments can still lead to the occasional tumble - so playtime should be supervised with small children for his safety due to his small size. Cedar loves being near his people and is starting to figure out the whole snuggle bug thing. He’s not quite there yet, but he’s definitely trying. He’s making progress with potty training, doing really well with puppy pads and regular outdoor breaks, but is still learning to signal when he needs to go. Like any puppy, he’s teething but is gentle and responds well to redirection. Cedar isn’t super food motivated and is still learning basic commands, but his eagerness to connect makes him a wonderful pup to grow with. Cedar would thrive in a patient, loving home ready to help him build confidence and blossom into the best companion. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Maggie is 3-4 year old Terrier/Chihuahua/Poodle mix weighing about 15lbs.  Maggie came to us over a year ago from a hoarding case where there were over 60 Chihuahua/Poodle mixes living in a small home in Denver.  They were all incredibly under socialized and neglected, with most of the females being pregnant.  We were able to take in 5 of the pregnant moms from Maxfund to help get them into a safe and comfortable place to give birth and raise their puppies.  We also took about 8 other dogs from the hoarding case to start them socializing and learning how to "dog".  Maggie is now the last dog from the hoarding case and needs her forever family.  Maggie has clearly been through a lot and still has a long way to come.  She is a sweet girl but still pretty timid around humans.  She will come and snuggle with her foster Momma on her terms but it did take an incredibly long time for that to happen.  Maggie really needs a human who can be patient with her and give her a forever home with lots of love knowing she came from an incredibly rough situation and will probaly never be a completely "normal" dog. Her fosters describe her as more of a cat-dog.  We know she could make more progress with some training as well.  We will require she goes to a home with another dog so she can continue to learn how to trust and be a dog. If you are interested in adopting Maggie, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2313815##

Story
Pitch is a 3MO adorably scruffy Terrier mix weighing about 7lbs.  We are guessing he will be about 15-25lbs when full grown. Pitch came from Texas, where he was dumped on the streets with his siblings.  They were all terrified, and just trying to survive.  Thanks to our wonderful rescue partners, she was able to get them all to safely until we could transport them here to CO.  Pitch love to follow his foster momma around the house and play with his other four-legged foster siblings.  He is curious, affectionate, and oh so sweet.  Putzi seems to learn quick and is well socialized despite everything he's been through.  He is such a great little pup and will make a wonderful addition to any family who has the time and love to give a forever new family member. If you are interested in adopting Putzi or one of his siblings, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2694963##

Story
Teddy is a 5MO, 7lb Terrier mix.  He is the cutest little scruffy, scraggly, snuggly little guy.  We are guessing Loki will be about 12-15lbs when full grown.  We don't know their actual breeds, but they do NOT seem like they are going to be 100% nonshedding or hypoallergenic. They will most likely be lower-shedding though! Teddy and his brother were dumped at a shelter in Mexico.  The shelter reached out to one of our rescue partners here in the states in hopes we could take them and find them wonderful homes here in CO.  Teddy and his brother made their way to CO a little while ago and are healthy, happy, well socialized, and ready to find their forever families!   Teddy and his brother are both playful, smart, confident and loving.  They get along with other dogs, kids, and humans.  They would each do well in a home with another dog to play with or someone who has time to train, socialize, and exercise a puppy.  These two pups are on their way to be amazing pups! If you are interested in adopting Teddy OR Loki, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2657290##
