Lilly is a 7 year old Rat Terrier who weighs 14 pounds. She was born on Halloween and she is terrifyingly CUTE! She loves to play with other calmer dogs, but can go to a home as the only dog as well.With the people she is comfortable with, she is starting to play and demand butt scratches and belly rubs. She is protective of the laps of people she loves. Her circle of human friends is small right now, but it is growing as her confidence builds. She will take some time to adjust to new people and new environments, and needs an adopter who will be patient with her and take things at her pace. She loves going outside and gets the zoomies. She is the picture of happiness. She will follow her human friends around the yard. So much so, that she will even try to hop 4 foot fences to be with them. Therefore, her yard will need a secure fence at least 5 feet tall to help keep her safe as she runs and plays. That may seem tall for a little kid like Lilly, but this girl can jump! As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
