Story
Hello!! My name is Poppy (Naia).  Here is some information about me: Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix Age: 2 years Gender: Female Weight: 65lbs Height: 24" tall Highlights: Beautiful, adventuresome, playful & athletic.   Meet Poppy (now Naia) — A Beautiful Ridgeback Mix with an Adventurous Spirit! At just five months old, Poppy’s life was hanging in the balance — she had landed on the euthanasia list at a busy California shelter. But her story took a wonderful turn when she was rescued just in time and brought to safety in Canada, where she quickly stole hearts with her soulful eyes and gentle nature. For the past year and a half, Poppy — now lovingly called Naia — has been cherished in a loving home. Her adopter describes her as sweet, playful, and incredibly athletic, with a zest for life that shines brightest on the trails. Her absolute favorite pastimes? Mountain biking, hiking or strolling in the forest! Sadly, due to unforeseen family circumstances, her adopter has made the heartbreaking decision to rehome her. This decision comes from a place of love and the desire to ensure Naia has the active, fulfilled life she truly deserves. Naia is a 2 years old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a beautiful, lean build and a loving heart. She’s smart and well-trained — she knows sit, stay, come, spin, roll over, and even catch! She bonds closely with her people and has a loyal, affectionate personality. Naia does have some quirks that come with her energetic nature — she’s always been a bit of a whiner for attention(since she was a puppy!), and she has a strong prey drive toward cats and squirrels. She can pull on leash when something catches her eye, but she walks beautifully with her Halti, which has been a big help. She’s best suited to a home with no cats or small animals. Naia is great with other dogs, with a preference for males, and would do best in a home with another dog of equal or larger size. She would thrive in a home with a yard or land where she can stretch her legs and run. Naia has also made great progress with her resource guarding around food — something her adopter has worked on with a trainer and behaviourist. It has improved significantly and no longer occurs regularly. Naia would thrive in a home with someone who: Is experienced and loves the outdoors (walking, hiking, or biking etc) Can offer structure, exercise, and affection Appreciates a loyal, expressive, and athletic companion Naia’s next chapter is waiting — could it be with you? Energy Level:  High I get along with: Dogs: Yes Cats: No Kids: Yes Fears/Prey Drive: Yes. Cats, Squirrels Training: Yes Leash Skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue with my training. Housetrained: Yes.  Please assist me in learning where to go in my new home. Health: I am healthy, spayed, microchipped & up to date on vaccinations. My adoption fee is $800 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1946114##

Story
**Note: Currently, Bentley is in Korea, but she will fly to Vancouver once she is adopted. Background Bentley was rescued in December 2022 from a dog meat farm in Ganghwa, Korea. Since then, she has been living safely at our partner boarding house, where she has shared space with other dogs. She also spent time at our manager’s home alongside both cats and dogs, though the two were mostly kept separate. Personality & Socialization Bentley is a gentle and affectionate girl with a medium energy level. She loves being close to her humans, enjoying snuggles and quiet companionship. With other dogs, she does well as long as they are calm and friendly. She isn’t a fan of pushy or overly dominant dogs and prefers her space when needed, but as long as others respect her boundaries, she gets along just fine. Behaviors Bentley is a wonderfully easy companion. She is quiet, rarely barks, and has shown no destructive behaviors. She is well-mannered at the vet, during car rides, and even bath time. On walks, she follows her human’s lead beautifully and enjoys exploring at a relaxed pace. Health & Diet Bentley is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She has been dewormed, takes monthly parasite preventatives, and has passed a full veterinary checkup with no health concerns. She has shown no signs of allergies and enjoys her dry food meals twice a day. Ideal Home Bentley would thrive in a calm and loving home with a family experienced in caring for larger dogs. A quiet house with a fenced backyard would suit her best, rather than a busy condo setting. She would love to be with someone who is home often—whether retired or working from home—so she doesn’t spend long hours alone. While she can get along with respectful dogs, Bentley would be happiest as the only pet where she can soak up all the love and attention. ------------------------ For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/bentley/

Story
I will be arriving to Vancouver Mid-Sept. Greetings everyone. My name is ZAHARA and here is a little info about me:Breed: Viszla/Dachshund mixAge: 3 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 28 lbsCountry of origin: MexicoHighlight(s):  Energetic, Daring, Outgoing, Brave Gang way, here I come. Looking for fun times and lovely living in Canada.I was given away by my original owner, who is a travel nurse and had to relocate. My new home didn’t treat me well; I wasn’t fed well and was tied down all day and all night long. I ended up being malnourished and was dumped at the local marketplace. The local rescue staff was contacted by the shop vendor and they took me in two years ago.I am a tough as nails pup, super loving and playful. I have super high energy, making me a great activity companion. I am perfect as an outdoors dog. I have a good nose, run super fast, and would love to go on hikes in the Pacific Northwest. I have been well leash trained. Maybe scent work is in my future... agility? flyball? tracking? Frisbee? I'm sure there are all sorts of sports out there we could do together. Maybe you are a runner needing that friend to pace you. Or a swimmer who wants a paddling buddy.Let's find what suits us and go for it. I'm brave and daring, are you?Being an outgoing girlie, I will do well being in your social circle. I get along withe other dogs too. My rescuer states I am good with kitties as I interacted well with them around the ranch and good with kids, as well. No vids for either of these yet though. I lived in a home for a few months so know about waiting to go potty. It has been a little while, so a refresher about it would be good. An additional note, my rescuer says I have tremendous leadership skills as I was the dog they used to introduce new dogs to the ranch. How's that for all around experience?I am just hoping for an active family. Preferbly with a yard, but if we get out enough, that isn't a requirement.Vids to come. Energy Level: highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknown, rescuer states yes, but no video proof yetKids: unknown, rescuer states yes, but no video proof yet Fears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home! Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered & vaccinated and LAL will pay for my microchip after arrival. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Hello everyone. My name is Ricki and here is a little info about me: Breed: Vizsla/Labrador mixAge: 3 years Gender: Male    Weight: 47 lbHeight: 60 cmHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, cats, people, no sign of aggression, very smart boy My name is Ricki, and I find myself in search of a loving forever home. My story began when I was discovered in a box alongside my brother, Ramo, and sister, Roya outside of a shelter in the Middle-East. We were lucky when our rescue mom found us and brought us inside! hard for little puppies to survive this crazy world sometimes! The three of us were adopted by one of the smallest dogs at the shelter, he has been our mom, our dad and our mentor since day one. Of course I had to post some photos amd videos of us with our adopted dad!  Despite our challenging start, I have emerged as a sociable and intelligent boy, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to be part of a family.I am a handsome boy who appreciates the company of cats, other dogs, and humans. Playfulness is at the core of my nature, I just can not wait for the day, that I can run around freely and just be a dog. I'm known for my ability to adapt and learn quickly. I'm always ready for an intellectual challenge. Most of all, I like to please, be cute and give kisses, specially if there are treats involved. Given my young age, I do require regular walks and daily activities. It is crazy, but come to think of it, I have never seen the outside world, I hear it is beautiful out there. My life's journey has brought me here, seeking the warmth and security of a loving home. If you are in search of a loyal and intelligent companion, I may be the perfect match. Together, we can create lasting memories and embark on a journey filled with love and shared adventures, oh how much fun that would be. Will you open your heart and home to me?  I eagerly await the chance to meet you and to love you and to call you my forever family.
