Story
Hi there! My name is Caramel and I'm a 4-month-old Female Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! You know what pairs well with Caramel? Apples. Ice cream. Coffee. Brownies. Popcorn if you're feeling adventurous. Caramel has considered all of these and reached a different conclusion...she thinks the best pairing for Caramel is...a dog. Specifically, a sweet, confident one who can casually demonstrate that the vacuum isn't plotting anything, new people are usually pretty nice, and the backyard is, in fact, an excellent place to run around. At four months old, Caramel is still building her confidence, and she'd likely do best in a home with another dog who can help show her the ropes. With a little patience, a canine role model, and people cheering her on, she's ready to become an incredible companion. Like all animals at Santa Barbara Humane, before going home I will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption also includes a complimentary post-adoption health exam with a participating local veterinary clinic as well as a supply of Hill's Science Diet food to help make my first few days at home a little easier. If you're ready to welcome me or another animal into your family, stop by during adoption hours—daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays. No appointment or advance notice is required! Need to pick up a few essentials before heading home? Visit the retail center at either Santa Barbara Humane campus, where you'll find toys, treats, collars, leashes, and more at competitive prices. Every purchase helps support the animals in our care and the programs that serve pets and people throughout our community. We hope to see you soon!

Story
Logan is a very sweet 3 year old shepherd mix with a goofy, playful puppy personality. He loves people and wants to be everyone’s friend. Strangers included. Even though he is a big boy, 80 lbs, he would like to climb in your lap and give kisses. He loves to be cuddled and hugged. Logan has very puppy like energy. He loves to play with his toys and gathers all he can around him, large and small. He chews the toys but rarely destroys them. Logan also knows how how to sit, shake and “high five”. He takes treats politely from your hand. He loves to run around, jump over things and roll in the grass. He is really quite a funny and joyful guy! But he also takes corrections of “no” fairly well. He is a quick learner and has been able to learn rules in his foster home very well. Logan does fine with all dogs, large and small. In his former foster home he lived with four small dogs and three large dogs. He was mostly indifferent to them, not wanting necessarily to play with them but he coexisted with them peacefully. He is not reactive to the small dogs barking in his face. He loved going for walks with, Bear, a dog in his former foster home. Logan loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. He is a strong dog so some training to not pull would be helpful. When allowed loose in a protected area, he loves to run and slide into the grass and roll. He loved to play chase with his friend Bear. He is fairly non reactive to other dogs on walks unless they are overly engaging with him. He seems curious but not overly prey driven when seeing cats. Logan had may have had food deprivation in his previous life. He can be protective of his food with other dogs and should be fed separately. He is very intelligent and often stands in front of the space where the treats are kept and in front of the refrigerator. His foster mom fed him extra food and treats to help him realize that he won’t go hungry. And he was really improving. Logan is a talker!! He expresses his opinion about things LOL! When he is unhappy he sounds like a husky in the way he whines loudly. At his foster home he complained when he had to be separated from foster mom or the rest of the pack. He does not have separation anxiety. When foster mom leaves he never tries to follow her out of the front gate. He does well in car rides and enjoys looking out the window. He also seems to enjoy water as he walked in the shower with foster mom for a bath uninvited LOL! Logan’s ideal forever home would have people to love, cuddle, play and walk with. Because he does have so much puppy like energy it would be nice for him to have a yard to run around and play in. Big children would be great! He would love to have another dog to play and walk with. But he would do fine as an only dog too. Logan is young energetic puppy-like dog who would enjoy a home where there is space to roam and play. He would love a person who likes to take him places for hikes and adventures!. If you are looking for a loyal, loving dog, Logan could be your boy!! Mac’s Dating Profile:Name: MacAge: 6ishhRelationship Status: Emotionally unavailable… until you earn my trust.About Me • Looking for a single man to make me his whole world. • I don’t really do cuddles… but I do expect your attention. Think “best friend with boundaries.” • I need an experienced dog owner. If I’m your first dog, we’re probably not a match. • Introverts are my type. If you’d rather spend your weekends with your dog than at a crowded party, we’re already off to a great start. • My ideal human listens, respects boundaries, understands dog behavior, and is always willing to learn more. • Confidence is attractive. Ego is not.My Dream Date:Hop in the car? I’m already waiting by the door. Whether we’re going on a road trip or just running errands, I want to come.Active lifestyle required! I’m not a couch potato. The second you stand up, I’m ready for our next adventure. Runs? Awesome. A couple of long walks every day? Even better. If you’re always on the go, I’ll happily be your sidekick.Got a cat? That’s fine. I honestly couldn’t care less.Have another dog? Maybe! They just need to understand that my play style is… let’s call it socially awkward. Not every dog appreciates my unique personality.I’m muzzle trained, so I need someone who understands that a muzzle is a tool—not a punishment—and knows when it’s appropriate for me to wear one.Love Language:Quality time… with a little personal space.I’ll happily lay next to you while we watch TV, work, or relax. Just don’t mistake that for an invitation to pet me nonstop. I like being close to my people—I just don’t need to be touched all the time.Looking For:A firm, patient, active, knowledgeable man or childless couple who understands that trust is earned, boundaries should be respected, and every dog deserves to be loved for who they are—not who people expect them to be.I already have a great trainer contact who is committed to continuing my training, along with my current fosters who are more than happy to help guide/support my future family whenever needed.I’ve been waiting a really long time for my forever person, and I hope I don’t grow too old before they find me.
