Story
Logan is a very sweet 3 year old shepherd mix with a goofy, playful puppy personality. He loves people and wants to be everyone’s friend. Strangers included. Even though he is a big boy, 80 lbs, he would like to climb in your lap and give kisses. He loves to be cuddled and hugged. Logan has very puppy like energy. He loves to play with his toys and gathers all he can around him, large and small. He chews the toys but rarely destroys them. Logan also knows how how to sit, shake and “high five”. He takes treats politely from your hand. He loves to run around, jump over things and roll in the grass. He is really quite a funny and joyful guy! But he also takes corrections of “no” fairly well. He is a quick learner and has been able to learn rules in his foster home very well. Logan does fine with all dogs, large and small. In his former foster home he lived with four small dogs and three large dogs. He was mostly indifferent to them, not wanting necessarily to play with them but he coexisted with them peacefully. He is not reactive to the small dogs barking in his face. He loved going for walks with, Bear, a dog in his former foster home. Logan loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. He is a strong dog so some training to not pull would be helpful. When allowed loose in a protected area, he loves to run and slide into the grass and roll. He loved to play chase with his friend Bear. He is fairly non reactive to other dogs on walks unless they are overly engaging with him. He seems curious but not overly prey driven when seeing cats. Logan had may have had food deprivation in his previous life. He can be protective of his food with other dogs and should be fed separately. He is very intelligent and often stands in front of the space where the treats are kept and in front of the refrigerator. His foster mom fed him extra food and treats to help him realize that he won’t go hungry. And he was really improving. Logan is a talker!! He expresses his opinion about things LOL! When he is unhappy he sounds like a husky in the way he whines loudly. At his foster home he complained when he had to be separated from foster mom or the rest of the pack. He does not have separation anxiety. When foster mom leaves he never tries to follow her out of the front gate. He does well in car rides and enjoys looking out the window. He also seems to enjoy water as he walked in the shower with foster mom for a bath uninvited LOL! Logan’s ideal forever home would have people to love, cuddle, play and walk with. Because he does have so much puppy like energy it would be nice for him to have a yard to run around and play in. Big children would be great! He would love to have another dog to play and walk with. But he would do fine as an only dog too. Logan is young energetic puppy-like dog who would enjoy a home where there is space to roam and play. He would love a person who likes to take him places for hikes and adventures!. If you are looking for a loyal, loving dog, Logan could be your boy!! Story
Hi there! My name is Caramel and I'm a 4-month-old Female Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! You know what pairs well with Caramel? Apples. Ice cream. Coffee. Brownies. Popcorn if you're feeling adventurous. Caramel has considered all of these and reached a different conclusion...she thinks the best pairing for Caramel is...a dog. Specifically, a sweet, confident one who can casually demonstrate that the vacuum isn't plotting anything, new people are usually pretty nice, and the backyard is, in fact, an excellent place to run around. Caramel was brought in from an overcrowded rescue with her siblings and at four months old, she is still building her confidence, and she'd likely do best in a home with another dog who can help show her the ropes. With a little patience, a canine role model, and people cheering her on, she's ready to become an incredible companion. As an added bonus to this sweet treat of a girl, her adoption fee is waived for being our longest term puppy! Like all animals at Santa Barbara Humane, before going home I will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption also includes a complimentary post-adoption health exam with a participating local veterinary clinic as well as a supply of Hill's Science Diet food to help make my first few days at home a little easier. If you're ready to welcome me or another animal into your family, stop by during adoption hours—daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays. No appointment or advance notice is required! Need to pick up a few essentials before heading home? Visit the retail center at either Santa Barbara Humane campus, where you'll find toys, treats, collars, leashes, and more at competitive prices. Every purchase helps support the animals in our care and the programs that serve pets and people throughout our community. We hope to see you soon!

Story
*Note: Currently Noa is in Korea, but will be arriving in LA on Sep 20 once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption applicaiton, pleae click here.Adopt Noa, the Big-Hearted Boy Who Can’t Resist Sneaking a LickNoa has one quirky love language, sneaking in a lick on your ear when he’s feeling extra affectionate, and honestly, it’s hard to be mad about it.Quick FactsBreed: Large mix · Sex: Male · Born: November 2023 · Location: Korea · Traits: Affectionate, sociable, calm · Health: Neutered, vaccinatedBackgroundNoa was rescued in February 2024 from a dog meat farm in Anseong, Korea, when he was just a few months old. After his rescue, he spent some time at a training facility because there was not enough space for him at our partner shelter. He later moved to the shelter, where he has grown into a handsome, easygoing boy while patiently waiting for his forever family.PersonalityNoa warms up to new faces fast, whether they’re men or women, and greets everyone with the same open affection including his signature ear-licking, which he’ll stop right away if told firmly. He loves playing with other dogs who like to run and wrestle, but he also knows how to settle: he’s calm and quiet in his kennel, doesn’t bark much, and shows no signs of separation anxiety. The one time you’ll reliably hear from him is when dinner’s due.CompatibilityNoa is comfortable and confident with both men and women. He has limited experience with young children, but overall, he is a friendly dog who enjoys being around people. If he is adopted by a family with children, parents should always supervise interactions to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. It is important that parents take full responsibility for teaching both their children and their dog how to interact appropriately. Helping children understand a dog’s boundaries and body language is especially important.Noa does well with other dogs, especially playful dogs who enjoy full-body wrestling and running games.Noa hasn’t lived with cats before, so we can’t say for certain how he would do with them. Given his easygoing nature, we think it may be possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own safe retreat while they get used to one another.Behaviours & TrainingNoa takes everyday life in stride. He is good in the car, calm at the vet, and easygoing at bath time. He loves going for walks, walks well on leash, and especially enjoys spending time outdoors. He is fully house-trained with a solid outdoor routine, enjoys his toys without destructive chewing, and has plenty of walking experience.HealthNoa is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. He takes monthly parasite preventatives. He has no known allergies and no history of additional surgeries or treatments. He has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home.He eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far.Ideal HomeNoa would be best suited to a family with some experience with large-breed dogs, simply because he is a big boy. A quieter home where he can settle in at his own pace and feel safe and secure will help bring out his best side. A family who enjoys regular walks and outdoor time will have a happy, easygoing companion by their side.Another dog who enjoys playing and has a similar size and temperament would be a wonderful bonus for Noa.After everything he has been through, Noa is ready for a family who will give him the love, patience, and security he deserves and love him for exactly who he is.

Story
Minnie is a sweet 2 year old hound mix. Gentle, quiet, and a little shy. Minnie is a bit reserved on first meeting but warms up given a minute and enjoys gentle pats and treats. She has a soft sweet energy and a kind heart. Minnie falls in love deeply when you are one of her people and she will follow you around and lie quietly waiting for you to give her attention. Like her puppies she is remarkably gentle and easy going and has moderate energy. She loves a good pack walk at the ranch where she is fostered but can often be seen meandering behind the dog pack enjoying sniffs and taking her time. Minnie has the patience of a saint with all the antics of the younger dogs in her foster home. She just sits quietly waiting for all the puppies to calm down! Minnie is learning about the world and is curious and a little cautious. But easily bribed with a treat she will jump In your car and happily go for an adventure. She is a perfect passenger in the car!! Minnie is great on leash and walks easily by your side. She loves strolls by the lake, hanging out in the shaded grass and being near her person. Minnie would love a home with gentle people and dogs who like walks and are easy going like her.
