MEET HOWIE! This happy, gentle Rhodesian Ridgeback/pit mix is a loverboy! Howie is 5 years young and has a heart full of love to give. He was rescued from a California shelter in very rough shape - he had major skin issues/hair loss and had clearly been neglected, but now he looks so much better! He's appreciative of love and attention and is a very affectionate boy. He's a big snuggler and will want to share your bed. He loves going for walks and other outings. He is good with some dogs but not others, so would probably thrive as the only dog in the home, or with a submissive female. He's been waiting a long time for his own home, and we're hoping 2025 is his year! Howie currently needs a foster or forever home. He weighs about 55-60 lbs. Please email for an application.

Zuri is a very sweet gentle 10yo girl. She is healthy and happy and loves sunning, sleeping and enjoys a walk around the neighborhood. She grew up with children and dogs and loves them. She has been taught not to jump on people, and she sits in front of you when she wants to say hello. She knows basic commands sit, stay, come and leave it. She enjoys leaning against your leg for a head scratch and cuddle. Zuri is dog door trained and crate trained and does well sleeping either outside the crate or inside it on a crate bed. Unfortunately we are moving and she needs a new home.

I am very affectionate and would love to snuggle at your feet or next to you while you watch TV or take a nice walk with you. I am best as an only dog as I am a food resource guarder with other dogs. I am under treatment for chronic anemia and I take medication for it. I may also need occasional blood tests. I lost my home with my 3 ‘siblings’ when our owner got sick and then sadly passed away after we were boarded at CARL for over a year. I’d love to be in a loving home to make up for lost time. MEET ROMEO, a handsome, loyal, protective Black Mouth Cur. Romeo is a handsome 6-year-old male, and he weighs about 74 lbs. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo is a gorgeous, handsome dog who loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves to hike! He's a great guard dog and can be protective with people he does not know, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done great with other dogs in a home setting. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. His bond is very strong. He is not a big fan of kids. Romeo is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub!
