Benji was rescued from an upstate shelter where he was liked very much, and we can see why. He is never overwhelming; rather, he is polite and appreciative in his interactions with people. On intake at his shelter, he seemed reluctant to engage and was shy, perhaps from never having enjoyed human touch or attention before, but the shelter folks found that he warmed to it nicely and, with his puppy-dog eyes, seemed to ask for more. Benji is about 6 years old now, is probably a Dobie-Rottweiler type mix. He has been living compatibly with a large female dog during his stay here.

June was picked up on a country road miles from civilization, obviously dumped and abandoned. It took the Good Samaritan days to gain her trust enough to allow capture. She were then taken to the local animal shelter, and the shelter requested rescue for her because she was so frightened. She's mostly Dobie (likely mixed with Rottie), estimated at 3 years old, and she's now a happy, friendly dog, ready for a new home. She's been quite dog social so we would love to see her get a home with one or more canine friends. A little work on leash will be required, but what she needs the most is to know that she's in a loving, permanent home situation where she can feel secure. *June did really well when introduced to a cat for the first time she she MAY be able to share her home with a cat.

Harley came to us recently (January, 2020) after being adopted from an animal shelter by a couple who hoped she would keep company with their elderly female Dobie. Unfortunately they found that Harley wasn't agreeable to the arrangement. She certainly doesn't enjoy meeting other dogs on leash and we don't think living with female dogs is a good idea, but she has been sharing her kennel peacefully with a large, male Dobie. With people, Harley is a darling; she loves attention and is patient and sweet. She is believed to be about 3 years old. The people that adopted her briefly from the shelter kept her outdoors, so it isn't known whether she is housebroken, but what we have observed first-hand is that she can either climb or vault over a 6' link fence, so she'll need a secure yard with a high fence or wall. Everyone who sees Harley asks about her, due to her beauty and innate charm.

This little cutie is Junebug and she has come a very long way but she still requires a very special home. She appeals to many people because she's quite small, often confused for a puppy. She is 1-2 years old and landed in the animal shelter in very rough shape. She had horrible mange and she was so terrified of people that she couldn't be handled. She would lash out, trying to bite and often peeing herself. We have spent many months working with Junebug to help her medically and behaviorally. She can now walk on a leash and she will allow as well as give back affection. However, Junebug still panics, especially if approached by anyone other than her handler. She tries to get away and she still has a tendency to be mouthy. It is difficult to describe because she doesn't seem to be "biting" with intent to harm but she will put her mouth on your skin when she's scared. She has never hurt anyone that has worked with her but she will need an experienced, patient and dedicated owner to continue working with her and will definitely benefit from someone willing to hire a trainer to help the transition. Junebug has been good with other dogs but can be vocal when she plays.
