Story
HI - I'M PHOENIX! I'm a handsome and healthy 10-year-old Rottie-Dobie mix in need of a foster or forever home. I lost my previous foster home due to no fault of mine, and I really miss having people around to snuggle and take me for walks and other outings. A little bit about me: I was rescued from a shelter a couple years ago, where I was a shelter favorite, and am currently waiting for someone to adopt me. I weigh about 80 lbs. Despite my age, I am active and I'm a very loving dog. I'll do well with an active person or people who can take me for walks and hikes. I have many positive traits - I am affectionate, I walk well on a leash, and I am a loyal and sweet dog. I will be your best friend for life. I also prefer to have my person or people around, but that can be expected of most dogs! I am not a barker unless it is warranted. I can also be a bit protective of my people and our property, which can be a good thing. I get along well with other dogs, particularly females. And I love human attention - I am warm and caring. I'd do well with a strong owner, too. Please email for an application. I'm currently still in Southern California and available to meet! Please email for an application and additional photos.

Story
Meet Willow, a sweet adult dog who is as independent as she is brave. She's incredibly smart, which shines through in her playful antics and loyal demeanor. Willow thrives in a quiet home environment where she can enjoy her own space and time and would do well with a mature adult person or couple and no young children. She gets along well with cats, but can be selective with her canine companions so being an only dog is an option. Willow is eager to be part of a family again and have her own home, and she is a good watchdog who will alert you if a stranger comes to your home.. Willow lived her first few years with a retired couple and slept in their bed with them. Sadly her daddy became ill and they had to rehome her. Despite her independent spirit, Willow still loves to engage in walks on her leash and other fun activities and to show her affectionate side to those she trusts. She will spend her day on your lap watching tv ( she is housebroken) and knows how to use a dog door to let herself outside to potty, lay in the sun or play in the water in her kiddie pool. She would make an ideal companion for those seeking a loyal and playful friend. Willow's unique blend of sweetness, friendliness, and independence, coupled with her bravery and loyalty, makes her a wonderful choice for adoption. She is ready to bring joy, laughter, and companionship to her forever home. Adoption fee is $250.. Email us at ALPHADOGPETRESCUE@YAHOO.COM and ask for our adoption application.

Story
Hi there! I’m King and I'm a 1 1/2 year old Male Rottweiler Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! All hail King! This goober may not come with a crown, but he definitely carries himself like royalty. King is a handsome, goofy young guy with a big heart and a soft side reserved for those lucky enough to join his royal court. King was surrendered through no fault of his own after his owner fell on hard times and was living out of her car. Despite all the changes in his life, King has remained a loyal, loving companion who’s ready for a fresh start and a kingdom to finally call home. This royal gentleman already has a solid foundation — he’s crate trained, knows “sit,” rides well in the car, and loads in and out of vehicles like a pro. On outings, he’s walked calmly past gardeners, children, people, dogs, and busy environments without issue. While he can pull on leash at times (especially when excited), he’s manageable and eager to continue learning. He’ll even go home with free basic manners classes to help polish up his transformation. King can be a little cautious with strangers at first — every ruler has to protect the castle, after all — but once he warms up, he’s all about affection and belly rubs. Underneath his big, sturdy exterior is a sensitive sweetheart who really enjoys bonding with his people. With other dogs, King tends to prefer respectful companions over nonstop chaos. He enjoys play in smaller doses, does well with dogs who match his energy, and is great at communicating boundaries when another dog gets too rowdy. He’s shown he can coexist nicely, engage in playful chase games, and adjust his play style depending on the dog he’s with. King would thrive with someone who appreciates large breeds, understands that confidence can take time to build, and wants a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts noble protector and giant cuddle bug. If you’re looking for a handsome young dog ready to rule your heart (and probably your couch), King is ready to meet his forever family! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chihuahua, Boxer, Great Dane, Pit Bull and Peruvian Inca Orchid X DOB: 8/2022 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: medium Color(s): black / red brown Description:***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Sonora, a beautiful, joyful and entertaining Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chihuahua, Boxer, Great Dane, Pit Bull and Peruvian Inca Orchid X, whew that was a mouthful, (dna test) who is in need of a forever home. I had a rough start in life and was found abandoned in the mountains in Sonora, Mexico (hence my name) with a head injury and very sick as a puppy. Some vacationing hikers found me and brought me back to the US to take care of me. I'm healthy now and ready for adoption.I'm not always the easiest dog to manage, but I've had formal training and a few foster families to help me learn how to behave in a home. I've learned a lot, but still have some learning to do. I'm very smart so I know I can continue to learn more.I love running around, cuddling and playing with other dogs. I'm very high energy, love to go on walks, but can be reactive to triggers when on leash. Another dog in the home would be great, but that dog would need to be able to handle my energy level. I need a yard to get my daily zoomies in.If I'm going to be left alone, I need to be confined in a dog proof area or in a crate. I'm not suited for apartment life. I can be shy with strangers at first, but I'm quick to fall in love with most people. Although I've been supervised around young children and did great with them, I tend to jump and play nip when excited so would do best in a dog experienced adult home.I might do ok with cats. A couple of the foster homes had cats and I ignored them or left them alone, but I was never unattended with them.If you're looking for an active great gal and can give me the structure and environment that I need to thrive, please put in an application to meet me. Minimum 6 foot fence. Thank you to Tara for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving her the chance for a better life. March 13, 2026, 5:44 pm
