Hi guys and gals, I'm Brutus and I am 5 years old! I am a sweet and fun dude that loves to just hang out with you! I am here at the shelter because I was an outdoor dog and was chained outside during that really cold weather in January, and my owners wanted to surrender me. Since I am used to being an outdoor dog, sometimes when you hand me really delicious treats, I will hold onto it and bury it, so I can save it for later! I would make a great protection dog outdoors since I have the thick coat for it, or I would love to try and be an indoor dog! Staff thinks I would adjust well to being inside since I am food motivated, which would make it easy for me to learn house manners! I am pretty good on the leash, and I take corrections nicely (sometimes I like to jump to greet you). I would make a great candidate for a household with children and other dogs so that is a bonus for me! I also like to try and play with the power washer, so I could be a dog that loves the water... Meet Rigby!! Rigby is just over 5 years old and weighs about 40#. He is a Boxer/Pitbull Terrier mix.   Rigby is one of the sweetest souls! He came to us as an abandoned stray, in pretty rough shape. Rigby has been nothing but a friendly and loving guy in his time here with us! He can stand to gain some more weight, as he came in to us very visibly underweight. Rigby has put on several pounds while in our care, but can stand to gain a bit more to get him where he should be.   We expect that he will do fine with kids as his demeanor is calm and loving. We haven't introduced him to cats or other dogs yet but can upon request.  Rigby loves to go for walks and loves to play with a ball! He sits and shakes as well!   He did test positive for Lyme Disease, and has started his month long Doxycycline treatment here with us. Rigby will need kept on monthly Flea/Tick Prevention and should receive a yearly Lyme Vaccine as well. He is not contagious! Lyme Disease is transmitted from an infected tick directly to the dog.    He is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on monthly preventive.
