Story
Hi, I’m Kuma. 🖤You may remember me as Josie, but I have a new name now and I’m starting fresh.I’m a 7-year-old Rottweiler who was originally found as a stray in Saint Joe. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, and I carry some of the signs of being used as a breeding dog in the past. But through it all, I’ve never stopped loving people.I was recently returned to the shelter due to changes in my owner’s health, so through no fault of my own, I’m looking for a home again.I’m incredibly affectionate and loyal, and once I bond with you, I’ll be your shadow. I will be honest though—I’m still learning the rules of living in a home. Sometimes I get curious about counters or try to slip out the door, simply because no one ever taught me what was right and wrong before. But here’s the best part: I really want to learn. With a little patience, guidance, and love, I know I can be the amazing companion I was meant to be.A few things about me:• I may be selective with other dogs• I haven’t met cats yet• I have a huge heart and love my people deeply• I’m ready for a fresh startMy past hasn’t been perfect, but my future could be—with the right family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you with everything she has, please come meet Kuma at DeKalb Humane Society.I’m ready to start my next chapter… maybe with you. 🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Hank is a high energy pup that needs some room to run. We are choosing to re-home him due to the fact that we can’t give him the attention he needs/deserves. He’s playful with other dogs (preferably large breeds cause he doesn’t know his size) and older children. He is not good with cats or in our case chickens. He was born March 29th 2025.

Story
Hey, I’m Reba! 1 year old | Mixed Breed | 55 lbs One thing you should know about me right away…I LOVE people. Like… really love people. If you’re looking for a dog who is excited to see you, wants to be close to you, and thinks humans are the best thing ever… we might be a perfect match. Here’s a little more about me: Very people friendly and affectionate Has done well with some male dogs Would do best with older, respectful kiddos No kitties for me… I’m a little too interested I’m still a young girl, which means I’ve got energy, personality, and I’m still learning! I’ll need continued structure, guidance, and consistency to help me be my very best self… but I’m smart, eager, and ready to learn! Food is a big deal to me, so I’ll need my own space while I eat. Feeding me in a crate is highly recommended to help me feel comfortable. Here’s what would make me happiest: A fenced yard or daily walks to burn off my energy Mental enrichment and things to keep my brain busy An owner committed to continuing basic training and socialization! I’m the kind of dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and love you with her whole heart… I just need someone willing to guide me along the way. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, loyal companion and you’re ready to put a little time into helping me grow… I promise I’m worth it.
