Ben (approximately 78 pounds) was transferred to the NHSPCA from a foster home in Texas. When you're a big beefsteak of a dog and your name is Ben, it is inevitable that you will be called Big Ben. This guy here is also known as Gentle Ben, because he is the definition of sweet, loyal, & loving. Ben is happiest when he's close to his people and will gladly be your shadow, always ready to keep you company whether you're relaxing at home or hanging out in the yard. Ben has a wonderfully balanced personality. He's calm, relaxed, and well-mannered in the home, but he still enjoys play time & stretching his legs. He would absolutely love a home with a big yard where he can safely run & explore! This smart boy is house trained and can be trusted to stay out of a crate when left alone. He already knows basic commands like "sit" and "down" and he is eager to keep learning - especially if treats and praise are involved! Ben gets along great with other dogs, both big & small. He does tend to chase cats, so unless you're willing to work on training & introductions, he wouldn't be a great match for a home with felines. Likely a Rottweiler and Plott Hound mix, Dennis is about 1–2 years old and has a big heart to match his love for life. His absolute favorite thing? Playing fetch! Story
Cannoli was left with me unexpectedly. She is very sweet and social, but it is clear she was never taught manners and needs a lot of training. I cannot keep her as I have a reactive dog who does not like her. I think she would do well with another dog in the house or as the only pet. It is hard to tell how she is with cats as mine avoid her, but I think she would be ok. We are working on house training, but a new adopter would have to continue this work. She is a power chewer and will shred anything she can, so a potential adopter needs to have a clutter-free home and understand she cannot have blankets in her kennel. She is also a counter surfer and not afraid to try to take food out of your mouth, which we are working on. Due to her size and unruly nature, she needs an owner who is experienced with large powerhouse dogs/breeds.

Meet Chucky! He`s a smart, active, silly guy who loves training and sniffy walks. Chucky is a foodie, and will happily settle down with a long-lasting chew after a nice walk or game of fetch. He walks great on leash with a harness, and enjoys zooming around our yards with his dog or human friends. Chucky has had mixed experiences with other dogs, and generally does well during supervised play but should ideally be the only dog in the home. If you`re excited about positive reinforcement training, have a good sense of humor, and don`t mind a bark that sounds *exactly* like a seal, Chucky could be the dog for you!

Introducing Sammi! Sammi is a big boy with a big heart, yet he still has a lot of learning and training to do. Known for his exuberant greetings, Sammi tends to jump on people out of excitement (which can be alarming when the dog weighs roughly 90 lbs!). Sammi can be easily worried or overwhelmed by changes in his environment, and is in need of an adopter who can provide him with the necessary training and patience to help him become the best version of himself. He is working on his leash manners, but he is very strong and needs an adopter who is able to handle a large breed dog who pulls. His jumping behavior will need to be diligently addressed through training and positive reinforcement. Sammi will benefit from ongoing obedience training to help him channel his energy in a constructive way. Patience and consistency are key when it comes to helping Sammi learn and grow into a well-mannered and balanced dog.
