Story
Meet Kirby! Sure, life handed him a few challenges early on, and he arrived looking a bit like he'd been through one too many adventures. After a much-needed dental makeover and with a spa appointment booked, Kirby is embracing his fresh start with style. This guy is polishing up nicely and proving that it's never too late for a second chance. In playgroup, he happily ran around with a female partner and clearly enjoyed the outing. When he realized she was a girl, he had a brief moment of misplaced enthusiasm, but he took her correction well and adjusted appropriately - showing that he can read cues and respond nicely. Kirby is young at heart, engages well with people, and listens nicely. He already knows how to sit and is very treat motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training. He was easy to collar and walk, though he can be jumpy at first in excitement. Inside the building, Kirby can be reactive due to all the noise and commotion, but this likely ties back to limited exercise and stimulation. With regular outlets for his energy, this jumpiness should calm down, letting his better qualities shine through.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. Email healaheart@outlook.com for more information. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Kirby 265382".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Hi there! I`m Reba, a sweet senior gal looking for my forever home. I`ve got a heart full of love and I`m always ready to shower my future family with affection and cuddles. After spending some time on my own, I`m hoping to find a special person who will cherish me and give me the love and attention I`ve been dreaming about. I may be a little older, but I`ve got plenty of spirit and love to give! I`m incredibly friendly and always eager to make new human friends. I`m looking for a calm and loving home where I can spend my golden years being pampered, loved, and becoming your absolute best friend. Are you ready to welcome me into your heart?I’m full grown at ~50 lbs.How did I get here? Transferred from Forsyth County Animal Shelter.**I am currently living in a foster home - please fill out a survey and select a phone appointment to complete the adoption process. Once that process is complete, your adoption specialist will schedule a time for you to meet us in person!**~My adoption fee is waived thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization.~

Story
After nearly eight years together, we are seeking a loving new home for Felix. Felix is a wonderful 8 year old companion who has been with us since he was a 8 months old. He is calm and independent at home, though he is famous for carrying his special ball with him wherever he goes. He is a loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people and is good on a leash, making him the perfect partner for long walks or hikes and keeps close even when off leash. While he is social and enjoys playing with other dogs, he has found it difficult to adjust to the high energy of our one-year-old. Felix is perfectly fine sharing a room with children who understand boundaries, but he likes his personal space and would be happiest in a home with older kids or adults only. We want to ensure he finds a family that can offer him the affection and boundaries he needs to thrive.

Story
JoJo is the sweetest girl! She came to our rescue group with a litter of puppies; now they have all been adopted, and it is her turn to find a great forever home. She's energetic, playful, and loves to show her affection. She loves her daily walks; she does a happy dance, rushes to the door, and sits for her leash. She's athletic and enjoys running alongside her human foster brother on his skateboard. She's very well-behaved and listens to commands. She's fully house- and crate-trained. JoJo loves her humans and gets along well with other dogs. She is looking for a forever home where she can be the center of attention and receive all the love she deserves. She is an absolute gem and you will be charmed by her loving nature. She can't wait to meet you and be your best friend!
