Story
Emma is a distinguished silver fox who has absolutely earned the right to be spoiled. Finding herself in a shelter at 11 years old has been a little overwhelming, but thanks to endless volunteer snuggles and the comfort of a soft dog bed, she's beginning to settle in. If Emma made a Top 10 list of favorite things, cuddles would claim spots one through eight, with food and outdoor time rounding out the list. She appears potty trained and would be happiest as the only dog in a home where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves. She is already spayed and up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped and ready to go home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Emma, 268850". Story
Meet Kirby! Sure, life handed him a few challenges early on, and he arrived looking a bit like he'd been through one too many adventures. After a much-needed dental makeover and a spa day, Kirby is embracing his fresh start with style. This guy is polishing up nicely and proving that it's never too late for a second chance. In playgroup, he happily ran around with a female partner and clearly enjoyed the outing. When he realized she was a girl, he had a brief moment of misplaced enthusiasm, but he took her correction well and adjusted appropriately - showing that he can read cues and respond nicely. Kirby is young at heart, engages well with people, and listens nicely. He already knows how to sit and is very treat motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training. He was easy to collar and walk, though he can be jumpy at first in excitement. Volunteers report that he loves car rides and trips to the park. They also report that he would do best in a home without cats.Inside the building, Kirby can be reactive due to all the noise and commotion, but this likely ties back to limited exercise and stimulation. With regular outlets for his energy, this jumpiness should calm down, letting his better qualities shine through.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. Email healaheart@outlook.com for more information. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Kirby 265382".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Ronald is a classic Boxer with a delightful prance and floppy ears that bounce along with every step. Curious and people-oriented, he likes to check in frequently-not just to see if treats are involved, but to make sure he isn't missing out on any fun. He's easy to walk, warms up quickly to new people, and always seems to be investigating his surroundings. Being a bit underweight, he's also known to search for any snacks neighboring dogs may have left behind. Ronald needs a cat-free home. In doggie playgroups, he coexisted comfortably with a spayed female and would likely do best with a confident, spayed canine companion. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Ronald, 269085". Story
JoJo is the sweetest girl! She came to our rescue group with a litter of puppies; now they have all been adopted, and it is her turn to find a great forever home. She's energetic, playful, and loves to show her affection. She loves her daily walks; she does a happy dance, rushes to the door, and sits for her leash. She's athletic and enjoys running alongside her human foster brother on his skateboard. She's very well-behaved and listens to commands. She's fully house- and crate-trained. JoJo loves her humans and gets along well with other dogs. She is looking for a forever home where she can be the center of attention and receive all the love she deserves. She is an absolute gem and you will be charmed by her loving nature. She can't wait to meet you and be your best friend!
