Kona arrived as a stray. She is a big girl and loves people. We are guessing her to be 3 pulse years. She is very selective of her doggy friends. She keeps her kennel clean and loves her toys.  If you have interest please stop in during our regular business hours to meet and apply for him. Story
Meet Nora!! She came in as a stray on 11/12/25, and we think she’s about 4 years old. Picture this: a stocky, marshmallow-shaped queen with more adorable rolls than a bakery on Sunday morning. That’s Nora. She’s a very big girl with a very calm, “I’m-on-my-way-to-a-spa-day” kind of demeanor. She has been pretty scared since arriving—new places are tough when you’re a sensitive soul wrapped in 47 layers of cuteness—but she’s starting to relax and make friends. You’ll want to go slow with her at first, but once you’re in her circle, she’s sweet, friendly, and ready to show off her skills. She knows how to sit, and she can shake with BOTH paws… because if you’ve got rolls, you might as well have range, right? Nora will need someone who can handle her size and who understands her gentle, insecure personality. She’s looking for a human who can help her feel safe, loved, and confident—preferably someone who appreciates premium-level snuggle squish. She is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet her! (Just be prepared for a whole lot of adorable.) Nora is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH Phone: 419-774-5892 It is an application process. Story
Meet Boa!! She came in as a stray on 10/10/25, and we think she’s about 5 years old. Boa’s got the kind of face that could launch a thousand smiles — mostly because of her own. That awkward little grin of hers looks like she just told a joke and is waiting to see if you got it. Or maybe she’s just thrilled to be included — honestly, same, Boa. She’s a happy, wiggly, sweet girl with energy to spare and enough enthusiasm to power a small city. Boa’s the ultimate hype woman — she’ll cheer you on whether you’re doing laundry, watching TV, or just opening a bag of chips. If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts beauty, comedy, and chaos (the good kind), Boa’s your girl! She’s available for adoption, so hurry in to meet her before that goofy grin wins someone else over first! Story
Charlie just turned 3 years old — a birthday she spent, once again, behind the walls of the shelter she’s called home for almost a year and a half. 🥀She’s a beautiful Rottweiler/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul… but you’ll have to earn the chance to see that side of her. Charlie struggles with meeting new people — the world hasn’t always been kind to her — but if someone could just give her a few chances, visit her a couple of times, sit quietly nearby and let her heart unfold on its own… they’d find the most loyal, gentle, loving dog waiting underneath the fear. 💔Once she trusts you, she’s pure sunshine — a snuggly, kiss-giving, tail-wagging angel who will follow you anywhere. She walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to stretch her legs running around the yard before curling up in a soft bed or a pile of blankets. She doesn’t care much for toys — she just wants love, safety, and someone to finally stay. 🐾Charlie has done well with some dogs here, but she takes her time getting comfortable — both with people and other pets. She’d do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with no young kids or cats. She’s a staff and volunteer favorite because we’ve seen the real her — the dog that greets you with kisses, melts into your lap, and looks at you like you’re her entire world. 🌙We keep telling her that her person is out there. That someone will see past the nerves and realize what a once-in-a-lifetime dog she truly is. But with every day that passes, she waits a little longer.Maybe you’re the one she’s been waiting for. 🖤More information? Story
2 1/2 year old Tank has been with us since August. His journey has been a bumpy one—he was rehomed when his previous owner had to move, and was later found as a stray. He took part in a brief trial adoption, but was returned due to having separation anxiety and his barking causing tension with a neighbor. Through it all, he’s stayed a sweet, loyal boy. Tank is said to be good with dogs and kids, but he’d prefer a home without cats.Once he settles in and those first-day jitters fade, Tank is an absolute joy to be around. He may be a little shy at first, which is totally understandable in a loud shelter full of unfamiliar dogs, but give him a minute and you’ll see the goofy, loving side he’s been waiting to share. If Tank sounds like the companion your family has been missing, we’d love to set up a meet-and-greet! 🎄
