Story
Benny is a friendly, intelligent, active, people-loving Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever mix who is a little under 2 years old and about 70lbs. He was found on the streets of Houston as a young puppy and has been living with his caring foster parent ever since. We were contacted by his foster dad who was needing help getting him with a rescue so he could finally be adopted, and how could we say no to that face? Benny loves going on adventures and is a total outdoorsy man! He walks well on a leash and is easy to bring around with you wherever you want to go. He enjoys going on long walks with his people, playing fetch in the backyard, and exploring all types of new places. This is a dog you can take anywhere! He is so well-mannered and loves everyone he meets, especially kids, and every day is a new fun filled adventure for him! Benny is a very smart boy and catches on quickly to learning new commands and tricks. He is also very aware of what his people want from him and mirrors the energy of whoever is around him at the time. Benny is good with other dogs but prefers to not be dominated over by other dogs. He enforces his boundaries well and is very fair with his corrections, but he won't stand up for himself if the other dog were to escalate it into a fight. He would be fine being the only dog in the household, but an even-tempered laid back pup would make a great canine companion for him. Benny has not been in close proximity to cats, but he does like to chase the ones on the street as well as the squirrels that run by. We think Benny would be fine with a kitty in the house, but he may need some lessons in not chasing them if they run from him! Benny is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.

Howdy, They call me Big Papa, I guess cuz I'm big and old. LOL A nice person found me and brought me to Lucies. I weak, emaciated, exhausted and in ALOT of pain. I collapsed in the road and had to be sedated just to get me in the park. :( The handlers there were so kind and caring with me. They nursed me bit by and got me well enough to get to the vet where I was immediately taken in and taken care of. It was a crucial time, as no one thought I would make it. Well I did!! And all thanks to the kind people who took care of me. I'm happy and healthy now, even though I'm a tad on the older side. I still got spunk, but boy does it wear me out!! I like to spend my time on the porch on a blanket with my volunteer gals and of course my friend KJ...she keeps me in line and out of trouble, most of the time. I'm looking for my forever person to just chill out with for the rest of my days. Just hang out on the couch and be potatoes. You know binge watching whatever you like. I Found Luna along with her siblings, they were 8 but I gave 5 to away to friends and family. Luna is one of the three females that I have left. I’m just trying to find them a better home. Luna is around 3 months and really sweet and also she is the biggest one of all of them. Really good fit for big family or someone looking for a new friend. All Three of them are available.

Bruno is a 4 year old Rottweiler pup who is a really sweet boy. He loves to play with his new toy and enjoy chilling in the yard. He was rescued from a very high kill shelter of Houston, where he was a staff favorite, that kept him alive. He loves to give kisses and lay on you. He is very loving and extremely loyal. As every rottie, Bruno is very strong, and needs a strong handler who will be able to take him on walks if needed. Bruno is very affectionate and adorable. He hugs his foster dad when he returns from work, and is very velcro with him. Unfortunately, they have two other rottie mixes, making it hard to adopt this sweet pup. Therefore they want to make sure that Bruno finds the best home possible. Bruno is also very smart and sensitive. He is extremely well-behaved, quiet, calm, and obedient. He likes to please and hardly ever barks. A home with a fully fenced yard is mandatory, as well as parents with rottweiler experience. Bruno is currently about 110 lb and growing, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. Sweet Bruno is being fostered in Houston, but can be transported anywhere, as long as it’s the best home for him. This gentle Rottie mama came to us after being left behind at BARC when another rescue took her puppy but not her. We couldn’t let that be the end of her story. From the moment we met her, her calm, loving spirit won us over. Ceylon is wonderful with other dogs, confident and loyal — exactly what you’d expect from her breed. She’s well-mannered, keeps her kennel clean, and loves soft affection (and treats!). She’s about 5 years old and would thrive in a home where she can finally relax and be someone’s cherished companion. She is heartworm positive, which is common here, but she’s already in treatment, will be just fine, and it’s not contagious to pets or people. This girl deserves a home, not a kennel.
