Story

Maya is approx 11 months old, 90 pounds, spayed, chipped & UTD on shots. She is now house trained, gets along great with all dogs, big & small, shows no food/treat aggression of any kind. Her previous owners had 2 cats & she was good with them. She lived with young kids (2 under 5) & did great & has done superb with my 13 yr old & his friends too. In short, this girl has NO mean bone in her body with a very mellow demeanor. She is still skeptical about a crate due to having been kenneled 8-10+ hours/day but we’ve been working on that. She does fine loose in the house with the other three dogs I have. She is still very leary about cars after being dumped, but a lil coaxing & loading her up with the others makes it easier. She loves men. A little skeptical around women at first, as she was abused by one but once she warms up, she is just a big fur ball FULL OF LOVE. To adopt Maya, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story

Baxter is a 4 year old, 70 lbs, Rottweiler/Lab mix. He was adopted as a puppy and was recently surrendered by his owner due to personal life changes. Baxter is overweight at the moment but he’s getting lots of exercise in his new home chasing after his foster brothers. He’s such a sweet boy and is great with other dogs, house trained, walks well on leash, and is crate trained. Baxter loves to play with toys and chew bones. He does great on car rides. Alfie is the golden boy. He’s super sweet and friendly, and at 9YO he deserves somewhere to retire and relax in peace and comfort. He was found as a stray on 4/23 not looking his best. He was missing a lot of fur – particularly along his rump and tail. Poor Alfie was covered in fleas, and was limping on his right rear leg. He also has severe periodontal disease, and his ears had so much wax build up in them that they hurt to be touched. With basic medical care and a little TLC he started looking spiffy in no time! He may be a senior dog, but he’s young at heart when the treats come out! He LOVES his snacks and will jump in excitement for them. He loves to run around the play yard and show off his real goofy nature. He is the sweetest boy and LOVES to give kisses, but is also happy to entertain himself. Alfie is currently staying in a short term foster home where he proved just how much of a good boy he really is. Alfie is potty trained as well as dog, cat, and kid friendly! He loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home, keeping up with the younger puppies without any problems. To Alfie, age is just a number!

Piper is a gorgeous Rottweiler with a heart as big as her blocky head. While she can be unsure around new people and may come across as rude at first, don’t let that scare you away. Once she gets to know you she’s as sweet and loyal as they come. Snacks and patience go a long way with this girl. Piper is house-trained, low-energy, and a total velcro dog who loves to lounge on the couch and be close to her humans. In her previous foster home, she was great with young kids - she’d even try to comfort them if they were crying by gently licking their faces. She’s protective of her family - not in an aggressive way, but in a “I love you all SO much I’m going to lie directly on top of you” kind of way. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time and understanding to bloom, Piper might be the perfect fit.

I am overall a really sweet girl, and haven’t had any issues when it comes to meeting new people. I would do best in a home with much older children or adults only. I am a curious pup who enjoys being with her family. I don’t mind however, hanging out in my kennel when needed. I am completely crate and house trained! I do have my indestructible crate that will come with me, as I am not a fan of loud noises. Thunder, gun shots, fireworks etc really scare me and I tend to break out of normal crates to try and seek safety. I do love being outside tho! I enjoy running, playing, chasing squirrels and I LOVE the water! I will also play fetch with you for hours if I could! I would make the ideal travel buddy, as I really enjoy car rides and going on new adventures! I do require a secure, fully fenced in yard.
