Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Ivan!  Ivan is a gorgeous 5-year-old Russian Blue with a shy, gentle soul. This sweet boy adores chin scratches and soft pets, and the best way to win his heart is with patience, kindness, and a little encouragement with string toys. He jumps up on his back legs when he is excited like Tigger. He shakes his tail when he is excited to see you.  Ivan takes time to trust humans after experiencing a heartbreaking loss—his original person surrendered him to the shelter after four years, leaving him confused and alone. Just in the nick of time, DREAM stepped in and rescued Ivan on what would have been his final day. Once he feels safe and comfortable, Ivan’s playful personality begins to shine. As his confidence grows, Ivan becomes a true lovebug. He’ll even come when called—about 50% of the time (he is a cat, after all!). He enjoys cuddling and loves sleeping on the bed at night with his humans.    Ivan gets along well with other cats and would thrive in a calm, loving home that understands shy kitties blossom at their own pace. With patience and love, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal, happy, and deeply affectionate companion.   Apply to meet Ivan today—your perfect new family member may be waiting!   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 14, 2025, 1:48 pm

Story
Bean came to my own a few years ago from the streets of Pasadena. He was very skinny and also quite friendly. He loves attention and enjoys being the only cat in the house. He loves to chase shadows and is very playful. He enjoys hiding in tunnels and surprising you on the other side. He also likes to go out on walks and he has harness training- he will be most happy with daily walks. He can be quite vocal about what he wants and he’s got a big personality. He enjoys cuddles on his terms and likes to be the only cat for you. Unknown how he is around children and dogs but he is best as a single pet in the house I think. I gave it my best shot to have him get along with my two other cats but it really has not worked out and I’ve tried it all. He can be quite loud about what he wants so please be prepared. He will come with his favorite toys, food and litter. Best suited for someone that wants a playful, vocal and active companion.

Story
Paolo is such a cool and sweet kitty. He greets everyone who enters the room and looks like he is saying, "What's up, human?" Paolo is friendly, affectionate, and wants to spend a lot of time with his favorite people. Paolo was returned to the rescue after his owner had to go to a retirement home. He gets along well with the other kitties here, but would benefit from a loving forever home to live out his days in peace and happiness. Paolo has been diagnosed with diabetes, but it has being treated and he is otherwise healthy and leading a normal life.  For more info, call or text DiAnna at 949-759-3646 or email at DiAnna@animalnetwork.org Paolo is being cared for by Community Animal Network, a non-profit organization founded by DiAnna Pfaff-Martin in 1996. C.A.N is a veterinary medical rescue that takes in stray cats and abandoned animals and helps rehabilitate them for life in forever homes. To donate to help cats like Paolo, use our PayPal link: www.PayPal.Me/CommunityAnimal Or Mail checks to: Community Animal Network P.O. Box 8662 Newport Beach, CA 92658 The founder of Community Animal Network, DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, is very particular about the quality of the animals, vitamins, proper diet and veterinary medical care. Feral kittens are tamed to "pet quality" and rescue cats that are shy are disclosed and termed, "rescue quality" with a lower placement fee. With all adoptions, DiAnna Pfaff-Martin gives valuable information about cat care in a one hour "feline pet-parenting consultation" to adopters. The most current information is made available about how to keep your cat healthy, pet foods, litters and how to make your cat more affectionate. The AVID microchip registration is included in the placement fee and the animals come with a 30 day heath commitment and return policy.        October 29, 2024, 7:02 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Welcome to Act 2 Rescue where you become part of our A2R family! Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO I am all ready for my new home or will be soon! Once sterilized, I will have been seen by a veterinarian, had all shots I was able to get when I was sterilized or they checked my sterilization status and microchipped!  All I need now is you! I am currently living in a foster home and am fully litter trained. Act 2 Rescue will even help you make sure I am able to integrate into your human and pet family with their behavioral coaching support during the transition period. I can't wait to meet you so please fill out an application for me today! _______________________________________________________________________  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations including adoption donations are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed due to the overpopulation crisis. You can learn more about us on our website or follow us here.   Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv September 10, 2025, 1:45 am

Story
Joy is shy at first because she used to live outside as a kitten into being a young adult. Although she lived outside, she always had a family that fed her so she has grown up by humans. She was scared to be pet at first, but now she enjoys it very much from her foster family. She is calm, quiet, and is a kind kitty. She is ready to find her forever home indoors with a warm bed to snuggle up in, a human companion by her side, and plenty of yummy treats. Adopter needs to be patient and give her time to adjust and warm up to her new home.
