Story
Affectionately called "Dorito Ears," Trap is very smart and knows the common commands. He would also want to let you know that he would love to learn more from you! His favorite things in the world are discovering balls in the yard and his friends. This cuddle bug would like an medium/active energy owner. By this we mean, you either love walks or would fit him into your gardening time in the yard. He would know how to self entertain with balls/toys as you garden, but sometimes would come in check with you to make sure you know he's still your garden pal. Treat motivated and Dog selective, Trap can be friends with his peers with proper introductions. He trusts the humans he knows and will slowly warm up to strangers. Once he gets some of his energy out, Trap is very content just relaxing, check in for some pets, napping, and playing with his toys. He also loves to snuggle. Trap is very house trained and rides well in the car. He is a very smart cookie and loves puzzle games too! He will thrive with an active person who will engage his body and his brain. If you've read this far, here are some unique quirks Trap has. He is afraid of sizzling noise of kitchen cooking, curious about dish washer, and is not a fan of the vacuum sounds. Will gather most of his toys into a place he's identified as his safe space / nap spot / or eating place. Knows the words home, find it, and inside + up/down. Understands Let's go/ walkie. Has a strong sit and lay down command is still being worked on. I'M NOT AT APA! yet, but I’m hoping my turn is coming soon. I’m currently at a partner shelter, and I’ve been placed on their Urgent Placement List - which means I’m one of their highest priority dogs to find a way out. I’ve been told that if someone steps up to foster or adopt me, APA! will bring me into their program and help me get ready for home life, so I'm just waiting to be chosen. All it takes is one person to change everything for me - email dog-foster-placement@austinpetsalive.org to be that person!

Bring Home the Best Kind of Pillow—The Kind That Loves You Back Pillow is a sweet, silly soul who has been waiting a long time for someone to see just how special he is. He’s smart, attentive, and deeply people-oriented — the kind of dog who listens closely, tries hard, and wants nothing more than to share his days with someone who cares. During his breaks from the shelter, he’s proven to be an exceptional house guest: calm, respectful, and happy to curl up nearby just to be part of your world. He loves the simple joys of being a dog — fetch in the yard, sniffy walks, squeaky toys, and showing off tricks for treats (cheese is his weakness). After a bit of play, he’s all about belly rubs and quiet cuddle time. Pillow thrives on routine and blossoms when he knows what to expect, and he’s making wonderful progress in APA’s Top Dog program. He walks well on leash, is house-trained, and gets easier to handle every day. Pillow would do best in an adult-only home or one with older teens who understand his need for structure and gentle guidance. He has so much love to give, and he’s ready for a home where he can finally settle in, exhale, and feel like he belongs. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, a silly streak, and a deep desire to bond with his people, Pillow might be the perfect match you’ve been searching for. Pillow absolutely shines in a home where he can feel secure, follow a predictable routine, and be part of the family. He’s been a perfect gentleman on his shelter breaks and sleepovers — calm, polite, and an excellent house guest. Ask about Pillow today! Whether you’re considering fostering or adopting, Pillow is ready to bring his goofy grin and loving heart into your home.

San Jose is full of playful energy, but she also has a softer side. After a good play session, she loves to settle down and snuggle—often right on top of her foster mom for maximum cuddle time. She enjoys leash walks and is always curious about the sights and sounds around her. She’s crate-trained, house-trained, and already picking up on basic obedience—this smart girl is eager to learn and please. While she's happy as the center of attention, she could also enjoy living with a well-matched dog companion, especially one her size or larger. Story
2/13/2026 Nova III is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Nova! I am a beautiful 1 year old white boxer girl that is an owner surrender due to my family not having room for me. I am an active girl that also happens to be deaf but don't let that shy you away! It is said that I live with and get along with other dogs! I also live with 3 kids (ages 6-18 years) and am good with them! I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I am crate trained but will find a way out of it if able. I am a young girl and learning, but I will need assistance with house training in my forever home. At night I sleep in a kennel and when the humans must be away, I am good outside but do not like being left alone inside. When outside I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. During my time outdoors it is important for me to have proper supervision because I can not hear cars coming or potential danger. I do not like being alone or in my kennel for a long time but I do love riding in the car, digging, chewing on toys, being around other dogs, and people! If you think I would make a great addition to your home, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!  ##2657224##

Story
6/10/2026 JJ II is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is JJ II! I am a handsome 5 year old brown and white boy that is an owner surrender due to changes in my family dynamics and they are unable to care for me any longer. I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, protective, affectionate, and obedient! I do not live with other dogs but it is said that I am dog friendly. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I currently live with two kids (ages 9 and 16 years) and am friendly, gentle, and loving with them! I am house trained, know basic commands, sleep on a dog bed in the living room, and am well behaved! I am used to being alone at times and typically stay calm and relaxed while waiting for someone to come home. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates and am respectful of boundaries and stay where I am supposed to. I am fearful of fireworks and other loud noises and will seek comfort during these times. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, chewing toys, balls, playing fetch, relaxing with a toy, spending time with the family, being around people, attention, calm environment, and going outside! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!  ##2758619##

Story
6/30/2026 Luna XIII is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Luna XIII ! I am a beautiful 7.5 year old white boxer girl that is an owner surrender due to the other dog in the home not getting along with me. I am described as friendly, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! I do great in boarding/doggy day care and am said to be sweet, playful, and gentle with other dogs! I currently live with 2 cats and am playful with them if they want to be entertained. There have also been foster kittens in my home and I've always played with them as well. I live with a 14 year old kid and love to lick and greet them and am playful and gentle with them! I am house trained, crate trained, have had professional training, know basic commands, leash trained, and will walk beside my owner! I currently eat Royal Canin Ultamino due to needing a food that is gentle on my stomach and good for skin and allergies. At night I sleep on my bed or on the couch and if the humans are away, I am very chill. I am used to a home with a doggy door and on occasion I can get lonely if alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of the swiffer sweeper and vacuum and if I see it, I will go outside through the dog door and wait until they are put away to come inside. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, bully sticks, greenies, bones with peanut butter or treats inside, belly rubs, being pet gently between my eyes and on my nose, running around playing with other dogs, sleeping on the couch, bed or in the sunshine on the porch! If you are looking for a loving and social girl contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you! ##2775650##
