Chelsea is a SPIRITED Pittie mix weighing in around 70 pounds at just under 4 years old! She LOVES her toys and can be full of energy during playtime and she’s a BIG fan of car rides and walks! While she used to be afraid of water, she’s gotten much better with baths through diligent work with her foster family! This smart girl REALLY loves treats and will happily work for them making training easy! Speaking of being smart, she does knows how to open push-down door handles- be impressed AND be ready to child-lock your doors lol! She enjoys lounging on soft beds and is a wonderful cuddle buddy at night, often nudging your hand or lifting your arm with her nose to ask for more love which is the sweetest thing ever!
Her personality is a fun mix of goofy, moody, and affectionate! She doesn’t bark much and usually only speaks up when she’s excited or when she feels the need to step in if the kids start arguing (she's the bossman around here lol)! She can get overly excited during play, so hands should stay away from her mouth (she is a mouthy gal), and she does best with calm, structured interactions! Regardless of her bossman front she puts on, she can be a scaredy baby as thunderstorms can scare her, but she finds comfort in being close to her trusted people!
Chelsea is also a reactive dog who has made steady progress with the right structure and tools! She now walks well on a leash, especially with a prong collar, as she’s surprisingly strong for her size. Without it, she can be difficult to walk alongside other dogs. She has a history of reacting to the male dogs in her home, so careful management is important. She also eats separately from the other dogs and has shown food-related growling before, though she has improved as her trust grows! Feeding her separately/in her crate is what's easiest for everyone- it keeps everyone, safe, happy, and well fed!
Because of her sensitivities, Chelsea will thrive in an older teenager/adult-only home. She is fearful of men and teenage boys and can become growly if startled/their is rambunctious behavior going on (unpredictable to her), although she has made progress as she’s accepted pets from men while out on walks or in stores with proper introductions! It's clear that men haven't always treated this girl right and she so with a family of adults and older, calmer kids, she will bond deeply and show her sweetest side!
Chelsea is incredibly smart, full of personality, and loyal once she trusts you! She’s not destructive, does well free-roaming, and is crate trained when her family leaves. She’ll even use her paw to sneak a bone or counter surf if she thinks she can get away with it lol! Underneath all her quirks is a loving, snuggly dog who wants connection, structure, and a family who understands her. If you’re looking for a clever, cuddly, adventurous companion who will adore you with her whole heart, Chelsea just might be your girl.
