Age/Birthdate: 01/30/2022 • Weight: 70lbs• Breed Guess: Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: Has been generously sponsored by her foster family Temperament with: •Dogs: Prefers to be an only dog in home. •Cats: Not a fan of kitties •Children list specific ages: She lives with kiddos but would probably do best with teenagers or in an all adult home! •Strangers: She is great with women but she can be weary of men Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Chelsea is a SPIRITED Pittie mix weighing in around 70 pounds at just under 4 years old! She LOVES her toys and can be full of energy during playtime and she’s a BIG fan of car rides and walks! While she used to be afraid of water, she’s gotten much better with baths through diligent work with her foster family! This smart girl REALLY loves treats and will happily work for them making training easy! Speaking of being smart, she does knows how to open push-down door handles- be impressed AND be ready to child-lock your doors lol! She enjoys lounging on soft beds and is a wonderful cuddle buddy at night, often nudging your hand or lifting your arm with her nose to ask for more love which is the sweetest thing ever! Her personality is a fun mix of goofy, moody, and affectionate! She doesn’t bark much and usually only speaks up when she’s excited or when she feels the need to step in if the kids start arguing (she's the bossman around here lol)! She can get overly excited during play, so hands should stay away from her mouth (she is a mouthy gal), and she does best with calm, structured interactions! Regardless of her bossman front she puts on, she can be a scaredy baby as thunderstorms can scare her, but she finds comfort in being close to her trusted people! Chelsea is also a reactive dog who has made steady progress with the right structure and tools! She now walks well on a leash, especially with a prong collar, as she’s surprisingly strong for her size. Without it, she can be difficult to walk alongside other dogs. She has a history of reacting to the male dogs in her home, so careful management is important. She also eats separately from the other dogs and has shown food-related growling before, though she has improved as her trust grows! Feeding her separately/in her crate is what's easiest for everyone- it keeps everyone, safe, happy, and well fed! Because of her sensitivities, Chelsea will thrive in an older teenager/adult-only home. She is fearful of men and teenage boys and can become growly if startled/their is rambunctious behavior going on (unpredictable to her), although she has made progress as she’s accepted pets from men while out on walks or in stores with proper introductions! It's clear that men haven't always treated this girl right and she so with a family of adults and older, calmer kids, she will bond deeply and show her sweetest side! Chelsea is incredibly smart, full of personality, and loyal once she trusts you! She’s not destructive, does well free-roaming, and is crate trained when her family leaves. She’ll even use her paw to sneak a bone or counter surf if she thinks she can get away with it lol! Underneath all her quirks is a loving, snuggly dog who wants connection, structure, and a family who understands her. If you’re looking for a clever, cuddly, adventurous companion who will adore you with her whole heart, Chelsea just might be your girl. If you're interested in meeting spirited Chelsea, please fill out the application below! www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care.

Age/Birthdate: 03/17/2023 • Weight: 60lbs• Breed Guess: Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special Needs: Yes, recovering from surgery 11/24 for a common orthopedic condition in dogs where the kneecap (patella) dislocates from its normal position, leading to pain and mobility issues. (covered by the rescue). He is more than able to be adopted but any family interested in him must be willing to take him to and from any appointments needed! Temperament with: Dogs: Great Cats: Not a fan of kitties Children list specific ages: All ages Strangers: Happy to meet anyone and everyone! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes! Potty Trained: Yes! Kane is a SWEET American Bulldog mix weighing in around 60 pounds at about 2.5 years old! This guy has the biggest head with the smushiest jowls and the most LOWEABLE personality, BUT he has convinced absolutely no one that there are many thoughts going on behind those eyes lol! He is the kind of dog to scratch his ear with his foot and then smell it, he is the kind of dog to bang his head on the corners of a wall, and he's the kind of dog to walk into doors or windowpanes because he doesn't understand how they work lol. Everyone loves him so much for his personality, not so much his smarts lol! With that said, this boy is AWESOME! He’s potty and crate trained, is AMAZING with all dogs (even when they’re being mean to him) and currently lives with dogs as big as 110 pounds and as small as 25 pounds and is on the submissive side towards dogs! Kane has this goofy habit of what his foster family calls "the play trap" where he rolls around on his back until another dog comes over to check on him and then gets trapped into playing with him lol (check out the video and picture of him belly up- Spot fell into the trap and got stuck playing with Kane)! Kane is pretty similar to a small child in the sense that he never wants the fun to end so the play trap usually comes out after he has had a good play session but doesn't want to keep running around so he just lays there until a poor, innocent victim comes over to check in on him and then gets stuck playing with him! Kane is also such a SNUGGLER and enjoys wearing sweaters and pajama's, lounging in comfy beds, and being tucked in at night (look at how cute he is in his little bed)! Kane also shares toys and water great (he is still working on sharing food from a bowl has made leaps and bounds and is able to eat food right next to another dog now! In the meantime, though, he will happily eat his food in his crate)! While he’s not a fan of the kitties, that’s ok- he has so many other amazing qualities! He’s medium energy, rides great in the car, is GREAT during bath time, and walks well on the leash! He is still learning not to jump up but he LOVES treats so training isn’t too hard (you just have to get past the lack of brain content lol)! Kane also takes treats SO gently and is overall just such a sweet boy! He LOVES affection and is ALWAYS trying to smother others with love and kisses- affection is definitely this boy's love language! Additionally, Kane has never met a stranger and can often be seen getting his whole-body wagging when he sees his most favorite people! He goes to work with his foster every day and is always such a well-behaved boy! Kane is not destructive and does a good job self-entertaining with toys! As he hasn't shown destructive tendencies, Kane would most likely do well when left out! Age/Birthdate:08/15/2020• Expected Weight: 74lbs • Breed Guess: Pit Mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adopt fee: Generously Sponsored Location:Chicago,IL Any Special Medical or Special Needs:. Tripod. Temperament with: Dogs: Not a fan Cats:Unsure Children list specific ages: not tested around children. Teens. Strangers: Good Training Needs: Crate Trained:Not crated. Doesn't need to be. Potty Trained:Yes Hi, I'm Freeda, a resilient and loving Pit Mix with three legs, but that doesn't stop me from living life to the fullest! I weigh about 74lbs, and I’m full of energy and affection. I might be a little rough around the edges when it comes to meeting other dogs, but I’m a loyal and protective girl once I feel safe. I’m potty trained and don’t need to be crated, which is great because I prefer to roam freely and relax in my own space. I love going on walks (though I’m not a fan of car rides!) and playing fetch with tennis balls, rubber toys, and squeaky toys. I really enjoy water and bath time, so if you're into splashing around, we’ll be a perfect match! I’m also a huge fan of belly rubs, hugs, and snuggling in bed—those are the best things in life. While I do get a little excited and bark at other dogs, I just need some time to settle in and get used to my surroundings. I think I’d do best in a home with teens or adults where I can be the one and only dog, but I’d love to have a furbaby sibling after a proper introduction! I’m a strong, protective, and loyal girl, and I just want to feel safe, loved, and have room to run and play. If you have a decent-sized yard and are looking for a committed companion, I might just be the girl for you! Give me some time, love, and attention, and I’ll be your best friend forever. ??? I can’t wait to find my forever family who will give me the life I deserve! She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE $0 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Meet Tipper Age/Birthdate: 01/23/2024 • Current Weight: 41lbs • Breed Guess: Pocket Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special needs: No Temperament with: Dogs: Great! Cats: Friendly! Children list specific ages: She is GREAT with kiddos and has met kiddos as young as 2 years old! Strangers: Great! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Tipper might just be THE CUTEST little potato you’ll ever lay eyes on! Weighing in at 41 pounds, this 2-year-old sweetheart is short, stumpy, and ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE — coming up to just under knee height! Her name suits her perfectly, too — when she gets excited, she does her signature tippy toe dance, complete with a full-body wiggle and the happiest butt shakes you’ve ever seen! This little lady is as affectionate as they come as she LOVES cuddling, sleeping in bed with her people, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get! Tipper is happiest when she’s close to her humans and can be a little dramatic if she feels left out lol — but that’s just part of her charm! She also enjoys treats and spending time outdoors especially when she gets the chance to run and play! Tipper is potty trained and currently working on crate training — she might whine for a few minutes, but she settles down nicely once she realizes she’s safe! She generally walks well on the leash and only pulls occasionally. With a little patience and encouragement, she’ll be a pro in no time! She’s also not reactive on walks, which makes her a wonderful companion for people who live in busy, dog-friendly communities! Speaking of dogs, Tipper is GREAT with other dogs and currently lives happily in a multi-dog foster home! She has no toy or water aggression, though she can be a little protective of her food bowl on occasion. Tipper also does well with cats, sometimes even trying to play with them, and she’s gentle and loving with children, even as young as two! At just under knee height, Tipper is too short to counter surf lol (though she’ll happily supervise your cooking from below!). She rides calmly in the car — just be sure to give her a little time after dinner before heading out! Tipper is truly the whole package — sweet, silly, loving, and full of personality and GREAT with other furry friends! She’s been through a lot, but her gentle heart and joyful spirit shine through every single day! If you’re looking for a happy little potato who will fill your home with love and laughter, Tipper is your girl! If you're interested in meeting cute Tipper, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Meet Peyton Age/Birthdate: 09/12/2022 • Current Weight: 54lbs • Breed Guess: Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special needs: She is heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment at our local vet! This treatment has a very high success rate, and Peyton is expected to make a full recovery! Heartworms are not contagious to people, or other animals and treatment is fully covered by the rescue! Temperament with: Dogs: Great! Cats: Likes to chase the kitties and would do best in a home without cats Children list specific ages: Strangers: Nervous and will need slow introductions Training Needs: Crate Trained: Unknown, she is not crated while left home alone Potty Trained: Yes Peyton is a PRETTY Pittie mix weighing in around 55 pounds at about 3.5 years old! Sadly, it seems like Peyton wasn’t shown much love prior to rescue, and as a result she can be quite shy and nervous around new people or when she’s in new situations. This sweet girl will need a very patient family who’s willing to give her the time and space she needs to fully decompress. With consistency, gentleness, and a calm environment, Peyton will continue to blossom into the loving, trusting dog we know she can be! Once Peyton does open up, she is a LOVE BUG and highly affectionate! One of her favorite things to do is cuddle and smother her favorite people on kisses! As if she could get any sweeter, she is GREAT with other dogs and has no food, toy, OR water aggression towards people OR other dogs! She really opens up when other dogs are around to play with so having another furbaby in the home might help her to warm up in her future family! Peyton is still learning what car rides are so be sure to buckle her in while on rides! While Peyton is still learning about car rides, there is one thing she does know: how to keep all four paws on the ground! Peyton is GREAT about not jumping on people, which is such a nice quality, especially for families or anyone who prefers a polite greeter. She’s gentle, respectful, and always tries her best to make a good impression! She thrives in a calm, predictable environment and would love a family who understands that slow and steady is the key to her heart. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, dog-friendly companion who just needs a little extra patience to feel safe, Peyton may be your perfect match! Once she trusts you, her loyalty and love are unmatched! This beautiful girl is so deserving of a forever home where she can continue to grow, feel secure, and finally experience the love she’s always needed. Peyton is ready—she just needs someone willing to take that first step with her! If you're interested in meeting pretty Peyton, please fill out the application below! www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Miss Piggy: The Sweetheart Waiting for Her Fairytale Ending   You have not had a proper cuddle until you have had a Miss Piggy cuddle!  I’m Miss Piggy, and I’m searching for my Kermit—someone who will love me and make me feel safe and cherished. I’ve had a bit of a bumpy start, but I know there’s a happy ending waiting for me! I’m a gentle and loving girl, especially with people. I adore being around kind humans who can show me the ropes and help me feel at ease. My perfect home would be a family where I can soak up love and companionship, and maybe even share some snuggles under the blankets when it’s chilly outside. I'm dog-selective, by that I mean that I get along well with male dogs and enjoy calm and easygoing friendships. I’m still figuring out my place in the world, so I appreciate gentle guidance and a little patience as I learn. Also, I'm okay with older kids (7+ yrs). Sometimes I may seem a bit lost, but with your love, I know my confidence will blossom. I'll give you unlimited kisses. Even when you're not expecting them!  I’m a zoomie queen when I'm with people (whom I absolutely love), well-behaved on a leash, and I never forget my potty manners. I enjoy leisurely walks where I can take in all the new scents and explore at my own pace. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful 3.5 year old companion who will love you with her whole heart, I’m right here, ready to fill your home with warmth and joy. Could you be the family I’ve been dreaming of? Fully vetted, vaccinated, and house-trained Professionally trained in basics (sit, stay, walking on leash, etc) – includes 1 FREE trainer session at trainer's location for adopters Foster-to-adopt option available – all costs during fostering are covered by us - food, medical, etc ##2315610##

Story
Meet Bruno! Age/Birthdate: 04/12/2024 * Current Weight: 43lbs * Fully Vetted: Yes * Adoption Fee: Was sponsored by a generous person Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Yes, Bruno will need pregabalin for life due to pain management from being hit by a car. He has some scar tissue that wrap the nerves near his sacrum that may cause pain when he's very active. He takes 1 pill a day and the med cost with Walmart is about 20$ every few months Temperament with: Dogs: Great! Cats: He has met cats and has done well. Children list specific ages: He LOVES everyone but would be best in a home with kiddos 10 and up as has some typical puppy behaviors Strangers: Amazing! He has never met a stranger in his life! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Bruno is a MIRACLE Boxer/Lab born around 04/12/2024 weighing in at 43 pounds! Bruno isn’t just a dog — he’s a miracle on four legs. This sweet, goofy boy came into rescue after being hit by a car, leaving him with multiple pelvic and leg fractures. He was in excruciating pain to the point where he was unable to walk and spent a lot of time crying. While many specialists gave up hope, Ruby Whiskers Rescue saw the spark in him and refused to quit. After weeks of rest, recovery, and an FHO surgery, Bruno defied the odds. Today, he’s walking, running, and living life to the fullest — you’d never guess what he’s been through by looking at his wagging tail and happy grin! At just over a year old, Bruno is a medium-sized, high-energy dog who’s FULL of love and playfulness! He absolutely ADORES playing with other dogs and would thrive in a home with another high energy companion that can help him burn his puppy energy! Additionally, Bruno would love a home with a fenced-in yard, as he LOVES to run and stretch his legs now that he can use them again- he has a lot of time to make up for! Bruno is a TOTAL goofball who enjoys toys, chew bones, and a good game of indoor fetch! He’s a bit of a chewer — remotes, beware! — so he does best when crated if you’re not home! He is fully potty trained, does well in his crate, and sleeps comfortably through the night in his roomy setup! This sweet boy LOVES people but still has some puppy habits — he’ll jump up to say hello and is a bit mouthy when playing. His foster has been working on this, and he’s improving every day with consistency and structure! Bruno responds well to a calm but firm “no” and benefits from positive reinforcement! While he doesn’t know many formal commands, Bruno is extremely smart and would do wonderfully with a basic obedience class to channel his energy and focus! On walks, Bruno can pull and does best with a harness and he’s not reactive to people or other dogs he passes! He rides calmly in the car when crated, does well for baths and blow-drying (he even tries to chew the air from the dryer like a goof!), and has no toy, water, or food aggression towards people or other dogs! He free-feeds throughout the day and occasionally tries to sneak treats from his foster sister because this boy loves a good treat! Bruno’s ideal home would be with an active family who can give him exercise, structure, and love! A home with another playful dog and older children would be perfect, as his enthusiasm might be too much for toddlers. He’s vocal when he wants to go outside, play, or come back in, but it’s never excessive! Due to his past injuries, Bruno takes pregabalin twice daily for mild chronic pain — an inexpensive medication that keeps him comfortable and active! After everything he’s overcome, Bruno deserves a family who will see him not as “the injured dog,” but as the vibrant, loving, goofy boy he is! He’s resilient, affectionate, and full of joy — a true survivor with a heart of gold! If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and a touch of mischief, Bruno is your guy! If you're interested in meeting Bruno the miracle baby, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue.
