Story
“Sherman” is a 95-lb, 3-yo intact male GSD who is smart, playful and energetic. Sherman is very friendly with people he meets, but can be overly-enthusiastic and jump up on them. Sherman belongs to an elderly woman (Helen) who was getting progressively sick and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer. She was not caring for herself or her two dogs (Sherman and the mastiff mix) and was no longer able to live on her own. We are friends with Helen and took her into their our home and had to remove Sherman from her property. We rent our house and are not able to keep the dog at our place. I am presently keeping Sherman in a kennel at my shop in Fairfield and in the process of shutting down my shop, so we need to find Sherman a home ASAP. Sherman has not received any formal obedience training. He does well on leash, will sit on command and is a very fast learner. Sherman rides calmly in the back of a pickup truck. Sherman is located in Fairfield. Please contact Ceari at (xxx) xxx-xxxx .

Story
Meet Freya, a petite 3-year-old husky mix with a free spirit and just the right amount of sass. Freya is everything people love about huskies—independent, curious, and always ready to explore. She enjoys being around people and will happily come say hello (sometimes with a little jumpy excitement at first!), but she’s also perfectly content doing her own thing and checking out the world around her.On walks, Freya is eager to get going and can pull with enthusiasm, so she’ll benefit from continued leash work and an active home that can keep up with her energy. She’s looking for a breed-savvy home that understands the needs of husky mixes—plenty of exercise, enrichment, and a secure yard are musts to keep this adventurous girl safe and happy.Freya has shown she can be friendly and social with people, and while she may greet other dogs, she tends to prefer her independence after the initial introduction. Slow introductions to new dogs are recommended. She can be a bit sensitive to handling/restraint and may wiggle her way out if she’s unsure, so a gentle, patient approach will help her feel secure. Despite that, she has a soft demeanor and continues to show a friendly, approachable nature. If you’re looking for a fun-sized husky mix who will keep you on your toes, make you smile, and join you on life’s adventures, Freya might just be your perfect match ??

Story
Meet Barney! Barney is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix whose journey has been all about learning that the world isn`t as scary as it first seems. When Barney first arrived, everything felt overwhelming. New people, unfamiliar places, strange noises, and all the hustle and bustle of shelter life left him feeling unsure and anxious. But with patience, kindness, and time, Barney has made remarkable progress and continues to show just how much potential he has. Today, Barney is a sweet and affectionate young dog who enjoys being around people, especially once he gets to know them. He can still be a little reserved when meeting new people and may cower or tuck his tail if approached too quickly, but with a gentle introduction, his true personality begins to shine. One of Barney`s favorite things in the world is food. Treats are a fast track to his heart, and he`s more than happy to join you for a snack break while building trust and learning new skills. He`s also developed a strong bond with his handlers and often chooses to stay close by, checking in regularly and following along on adventures. Barney enjoys the company of other dogs and has shown playful, affiliative behavior during introductions. Like many young dogs, he appreciates canine companions who respect his space and social cues. He can become uncomfortable if another dog is overly pushy or persistent, so thoughtful introductions and compatible playmates will help set him up for success. As a young Shepherd mix, Barney will thrive in a home that can provide regular exercise, mental enrichment, training, and plenty of opportunities to continue building confidence. He`s smart, eager to learn, and already showing how much he can accomplish when given patience and encouragement. Because Barney can still be sensitive to sudden handling and overwhelming situations, he would do best in a home without young children and with adopters who understand that confidence is built one positive experience at a time. Barney may not be the dog who rushes up to greet everyone he meets, but for the person willing to earn his trust, the reward is something truly special. Beneath his cautious exterior is a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. If you`re looking for a young dog with a big heart and an even bigger future, Barney is ready to write his next chapter with you.
