1⃣ Health Condition
* Spayed.
* Microchipped, and heartworm negative upon retest after treatment.
2⃣ Rescue Story
* At the end of 2021, Gowoon gave birth to seven puppies at the Gimje City Shelter. She and her puppies were rescued together. All of her puppies have since gone to foster or adoptive homes, but Gowoon has remained at our center, waiting for a family of her own.
3⃣ Basic Information
* With People: Tends to be very shy because she isn’t used to human touch. Previously ran away from humans, but has gotten much better. She looks much brighter and she even follows people for treats. When leashed in a confined space, she allows touch except on the top of her head.
* With Dogs: Approaches and sniffs new dogs. Isn’t shy with dogs and coexists peacefully with almost all of them.
* With Cats: Didn’t react to a cat she saw that was 10 meters away from her, separated by a fence.
* Separation Anxiety: Doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety and is fine alone. Since she’s shy with people, she actually seems more energetic when people aren’t around.
* Potty Training: Currently only does outdoor potty at our center. May need basic training in a new environment.
* Hygiene: Does well with baths. Is uncomfortable with brushing and nail trims but currently accepts them quite well through desensitization training.
* Walks: There’s a possibility that she may escape, so we are leash training her within the facilities. While leashed, she slowly follows her handler’s lead.
* Car Sickness: Is calm in the car, and sits quietly without motion sickness.
* Barking: Barks when hearing loud noises outside. Also barks if she is outside alone while people are out of her sight and hears them moving around inside the kennels. Sometimes barks if other dogs run outside to play first and she wants to go out too.
* Biting: Previously, she occasionally bit in defense due to fear. Through consistent training, she now only opens her mouth as a warning, but doesn’t bite and doesn’t show any other aggressive behaviors if you pet her and calm her down.
* Likes: Likes meat-based treats. Shows a clear preference for chicken breast treats. Likes having her chin scratched.
* Dislikes: Is afraid of sudden movements, loud noises, and hands that come near her eyes.
* Personality: Gets along well with dogs, and expresses her likes and dislikes very clearly. Is very low maintenance since she rests comfortably in her kennel with no separation anxiety and doesn’t bark for attention. Will need continuous training since she’s timid and shy, but she will become brighter and brighter if you match her pace and wait for her to come to you.
