Story
Meet Dongree   Breed: Shiba mix Age: 4 years old Sex: Spayed female Colour: Brown Weight: 14kg Height (to shoulder): 45cm   Rescue Story   Donggree was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list and has been waiting patiently ever since for a family of her own.   She may take a few days to open up — usually between 3 days to a week — but once she feels safe, her loving and playful personality shines through. She’s affectionate with familiar people and allows gentle handling or even being lifted once trust is built.   Personality & Socialization   Donggree has the classic Shiba mix personality — a little cautious at first, independent, yet deeply loyal once she bonds with you.   She gets along well with most dogs, both larger and smaller, but can react if another dog challenges her. For this reason, careful introductions with new dogs are recommended. With friendly dogs, however, she loves to play and enjoys companionship.   Her reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet.   Energy Level & Behavior   Donggree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor walks and activities but settles calmly afterward. She walks well overall, though she may pull on the leash occasionally. Once the leash is on, she follows nicely and enjoys the walk.   She doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs and behaves quietly in her kennel. She feels anxious about car rides, so she prefers to be held during transport.   She’s comfortable using both pee pads indoors and pottying outdoors, which makes her adaptable to different home environments.   A Loyal and Independent Spirit   Donggree is a bright, affectionate girl with that unmistakable Shiba charm — loyal, clean, and quietly confident. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and consistency, she opens up to reveal a loving heart.   Once she trusts you, she’ll become your faithful shadow, following you with her signature calm energy and gentle eyes.   Ideal Home: A patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build trust. A home that appreciates the independent but affectionate nature of Shiba mixes would be perfect for her.   Donggree may take a little time to trust, but once she does, she’ll stay by your side for life — loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength. Story
🏠 Currently in a Seattle foster home 🧡 Hi, I'm Milo 🧡 Age: 1 year Breed: Jindo-Shiba Mix Sex: Male Weight: 8kg (just under 18 lbs) I may be fully grown, but I’m a little guy with a big heart—and I’m ready to fill your home with love, one pawstep at a time. People say I look like a little teddy bear, with my soft brown fur and round eyes that are always full of curiosity. I’m small, sweet, and full of quiet charm. You might never guess it from my gentle looks, but I’ve already been through a lot in my short life. I was once on a euthanasia list… but I was saved just in time. Since then, I’ve only known shelter life. A real home? I’ve never had one. But I’m hoping that’s about to change—with you. Because I’ve never lived in a house, I haven’t learned all the rules yet—especially when it comes to potty training. I’m not used to going inside or outside properly, so I’ll need your help learning a routine from scratch. If you gently guide me to the same spot after meals, naps, and playtime—and reward me with yummy treats when I get it right—I’ll catch on quickly. If I make mistakes, please don’t scold me. Just quietly clean up and help me try again. I really want to learn! At first, I might be a little unsure around new people. I don’t trust easily, but not because I don’t want to—it’s just that I’ve never really known what it means to feel safe. That said, I’m very curious, and I love food (especially treats from your hand!). Give me a bit of time, and you’ll see me coming over on my own, asking for pets and showing you my soft, cuddly side. Sometimes sudden movements or unfamiliar touches might startle me, so it’s best to approach slowly at first—low posture, calm energy, and of course… snacks! With your patience and kindness, I’ll learn that hands mean love, not fear. When it’s time for walks, I do best with a chest harness and a backup leash for safety—two points of security, just in case. Quiet streets are my favorite for now. With gentle exposure and encouragement, I’ll slowly grow more confident exploring the world by your side. I know I’m not perfect. I still have so much to learn. But now is the perfect time to teach me. I’m young, open-hearted, and so eager to bond. With love, patience, and a calm guiding hand, I’ll grow into a polite, loyal companion who brings joy to your everyday life. I’ve lived my life behind shelter walls—but I’m ready to trade that for warm beds, gentle walks, and a forever family to call my own. Could that family be you? With hope in my eyes and love in my little heart, Milo 🐾

Story
Hi, my name is Haerang 🐾 I’m a 3-year-old male Shiba–Welsh mix, weighing about 7kg. I have a slim body, short little legs, and bright, sparkling eyes that people often fall in love with right away. I was rescued from a shelter where euthanasia was taking place. Before that, I spent a long time in a shelter environment where I didn’t get many chances to experience the world. I was very shy and fearful back then, often hiding quietly on my own. But I’ve changed a lot since then. As I learned what human warmth feels like, I slowly opened my heart. Now, I truly love people. When you call my name, I’ll happily roll over and show you my belly, wiggling my way toward you for affection. I have a very gentle, calm, and stable personality, and being with me tends to make people feel relaxed and at ease without even realizing it. My favorite thing in the world is my person. I can coexist peacefully with other dogs and even cats, but I’m more of a “one-on-one” kind of guy. I’m happiest in a quiet, calm home where I can enjoy peaceful time with my family rather than a busy, crowded environment. I already know the command “house,” I walk nicely on leash, and I do well riding in the car too. With potty training, I might have a few small accidents in a brand-new environment, but I’m very steady and gentle by nature—if you guide me patiently and kindly, I’ll learn just fine. In unfamiliar places, I may seem a little timid at first. But give me some time, and I’ll be the one coming to you, asking for love. Before you know it, I’ll be following you everywhere like your little shadow—your loyal, affectionate “velcro dog.” I’m not a dog who adjusts instantly. I’m a dog who blossoms when someone waits for me and believes in me. I’ve been learning to trust human arms again, and now I’m ready to give my whole heart to one forever family. If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle companion who will stay close by your side for life, I’m right here—waiting just for you. 💛

Story
Hi… my name is Gaon 🐕 I’m a 4-year-old male Shiba × Jindo mix, and I weigh about 18kg. I was once placed on a shelter’s euthanasia list. Even after I was rescued, no one came for me for a very long time. The shelter became the only home I knew—far longer than any dog should have to endure. When people approach me, I don’t rush forward with excitement. Instead, I watch carefully. I’m afraid you might leave. Afraid I might be alone again. So I open my heart slowly, cautiously. But behind that hesitation is a heart that longs deeply to love a person. I simply never learned how to show it. I went so long without being chosen, without being loved, that I don’t always know how to ask for affection. That’s why I struggle when attention is shared with other dogs. It’s not jealousy—it’s more like a quiet plea: “Please don’t leave me this time.” That’s why I’m hoping for an only-dog home, where I can finally feel secure. When it’s just you and me, I’m a completely different dog. I’ll meet your eyes, lean gently against you, and offer shy little gestures of affection. Once I give my heart, I give it fully— with the deep, unwavering loyalty that Jindo dogs are known for. Home life may feel unfamiliar to me at first. I’ll need time, patience, and understanding. But if you’re willing to walk that slow beginning with me, I promise you this: I will become a dog who makes one person my whole world. A once-in-a-lifetime companion who loves quietly, deeply, and forever. Somewhere in a shelter, I’m still waiting— waiting for the one person who will call my name and mean it for life.

Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi!  My name is Woody from Korea and I am a wonderful approximately 7 month old  male Shiba Inu mix.  I weigh approximately 24 lbs. and so excited to find my new forever home.  I am very happy, affectionate, smart, and friendly.  I was saved from the Korean kill shelter where I was due to be euthanized. The activists came and saved me and I can't wait to come to America and find a family to love and care for me forever.  Approximately over a million dogs a year are slaughtered to be eaten.  I am so lucky to get a one-way ticket to Seattle to find my new family.  Take me on car rides, walks in the park, and I will become your best friend.  I get along well with people of all ages, gentle kids, and other dogs.  I will do best with a loving family that can give me lots of love, and affection!  On all overseas adoption, we highly recommend our pet rescue dog trainer who will help train your new pup.  My adoption fee of $1,595 will cover my spay/neuter, DA2PP shots, Rabies, Bordetella, Deworm, Heart Worm Test, Microchip, Boarding Fees, Health Certificate and airline transport cost from Korea to Seattle.   A GPS tracker or Apple Air Tag is required for all adopted dogs. You can bring your own when adopting or you can purchase an Air Tag from us   We cannot guarantee breed or age. The adoption fee is firm and helps save the life of another dog needing rescue and our other dogs in need of medical care.  Donations are always appreciated to help pay down our vet bills at Greenwood Vet.  Ginger's Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501C-3 organization.  The adoption fee is donated to the rescue and is tax deductible.   Please e-mail   admin@gingerspetrescue.org   for an adoption application.
