Story
This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. They will be available to meet starting 12/8. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2595297##

Story
HIGHLIGHTS -Requires a confident dog already established in the home. Meet Etna – A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom Etna is a sweet 4-year-old weighing 20 lbs Shih Tzu with a soft heart and soulful eyes. This lovely girl may be a little shy at first, but underneath her cautious exterior is a friendly pup who just needs time, patience, and the right environment to truly shine. Etna thrives in the company of other dogs and requires a calm, confident canine companion already established in the home. Having a doggy role model helps her feel safe and encourages her to come out of her shell. She gets along well with other dogs, and once she feels secure, her affectionate and gentle nature begins to show. Etna isn’t the kind of dog to dive headfirst into new situations—but with slow introductions and a stable environment, she steadily builds trust. Her ideal home is quiet, loving, and experienced with shy dogs or willing to let her set the pace. If you have a kind heart, a confident pup, and the patience to let Etna blossom in her own time, she just might be your perfect match. Apply to adopt Etna today and help her write her happy ending. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
