Story
Tallie-Mae is an adorable Shih-Tzu puppy born 11/28/25 with a smooshy face, silky fluffy coat, and the sweetest personality. She loves playing with her foster siblings, chasing balls, and enjoying squeaky or crinkle toys. When playtime is over, Tallie-Mae happily accepts cuddles and tummy rubs before relaxing nearby. Her foster family says she often greets them with full-body wiggles and lots of kisses when they wake up or return home. She’s a smart little girl who enjoys Level 2 and Level 3 puzzle toys, is starting to learn cues like “sit,” and does well using potty pads. Tallie-Mae would thrive in a loving home with another playful dog her size and a family who can give her plenty of affection and playtime. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, cuddly little companion, Tallie-Mae is ready to steal your heart. 🐾 *** Go to www.pawsitiverestorations.com to learn all about our dogs, watch their silly videos, read our adoption process, and to submit an adoption application. Story
Tamarack (6 yrs. 16 lbs.) is a Shih Tzu with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Friendly, playful, and full of life, Tamarack lights up around other dogs and is always ready for a game or a romp in the yard. He’s especially happy when he’s around canine companions who match his enthusiasm—or help ground it. While Tamarack is a sweetheart through and through, he does show some high-energy behaviors in the rescue environment that make him stand out from the crowd. He’s spirited, expressive, and always on the go—so he’s looking for a home that understands his zest for life and can offer structure, patience, and support. Tamarack is still unsure about handling and will need a patient home willing to work with him at a slow, respectful pace as he continues to build trust. He will also benefit from ongoing socialization around people to help him feel more confident in new situations. The good news is that Tamarack is food motivated, which makes positive reinforcement training a great tool for helping him succeed. He also walks on leash and enjoys getting out and about. Tamarack requires a confident, established dog in the home to help guide him and model calmer behavior. He thrives with routine, companionship, and a family who can appreciate his playful nature while gently helping him stay balanced. If you have a solid pack leader (with four legs), a patient heart, and a willingness to help a dog grow at his own pace, Tamarack could be your perfect match. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Meet Kiwi — a gentle, loving soul who thrives on companionship. He’s happiest when he’s close to his person, whether it’s sitting quietly at your feet or snuggled in your lap for hours. Kiwi’s heart is full of affection, and he’s always eager to make you smile. As a young puppy, Kiwi bravely battled a severe case of parvo. He doesn’t always recognize or communicate when he needs to go outside, and sometimes he can’t hold it in time. He’s making progress as he grows, and with patience, consistency, and loving guidance, we’re convinced he’ll continue to improve even more. Kiwi’s sweetness, loyalty, and loving nature make every bit of extra care more than worthwhile. He will need a securely fenced yard where he can safely play and stretch his legs. His adoption fee of $375 includes his neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. We’re located in the Colorado Springs area and require a home visit as part of the adoption process. If you think you might be the right match for Kiwi, please apply at www.whimperstowags.org under the “Forms” section. Thank you for considering giving this special boy the home he truly deserves!May 7, 2025, 12:11 am

Story
Vivian ("Vivi"), a Shih Tzu or Shih Tzu mix (we think maybe with Maltese), weighing about 7lbs and about 4 years old (we are guessing.  She was found wandering the streets of Mexico, a fate totally undeserving of a sweet princess like herself whose ancestors served as companions to Chinese royalty during the Ming and Qing dynasties. How one of these royal pups found her way across the world is a mystery we’ll never solve… but what we do know is that Vivi’s story is now one of rescue, love, and second chances. After being found and brought to safety in a rural shelter, Vivi quickly charmed everyone she met. The staff fell in love with her gentle spirit and sweet nature, and she soon made her way to Brighter Days Dog Rescue, where she’s now waiting for her happily ever after. Vivi is very comfortable in crates and appears totally crate trained. In her foster home, she discovered a luxury known as "the couch" (a modern day equivalent to a royal throne), and expressed total shock and dismay that she was allowed to sit on it AND it had heated blankets waiting for her. She has decided she is never leaving "the couch."  She is especially never leaving as the couch frequently includes human cuddles and her favorite thing in the world is sitting on someone's lap, getting belly rubs, and being the cutest creature you ever did meet. She now prefers to sleep on the couch or in a dog bed to her crate.  She is learning to walk on a leash and loves exploring. Bunny sightings are her favorite (and yes, she really wants to chase them). She loves eating her breakfast and dinner and getting various snacks, including, hilariously, dog bones three times her actual size.  And she loves riding in cars. Everyone she meets is a friend and she gets along great with cats, dogs, kids, and people. She may be a tad shy meeting new friends at first, but her sweetness shines through the moment you offer her a gentle pet and kind words. Her devotion to her humans is observed by her collecting their socks for her bed when they are gone.  She is getting the hang of potty training, learning to use the bathroom outside and doing great with consistency. She is learning to play with dog toys instead of socks but still prefers socks. She is learning to be a real dog and not just a pretty face, chasing after the other dogs, getting zoomies, and doing real dog things, including an occasional bark. She still needs some work on basic behavior commands like come, sit, and down but is smart and eager to please so should be pretty straightforward to train.  She is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped ,and ready for her forever home. Her forever home will also need to plan for some regular grooming requirements but she is great about being handled and brushed. Vivi has so much love, joy, and cuddly devotion to share. All she needs now is a throne (your couch) and a heart (yours) to call home.  Vivi’s dream home has a cozy couch, patient humans, and plenty of love. She’ll thrive with someone who enjoys cuddles, gentle walks, and daily doses of her silly, affectionate charm. In return, she promises a lifetime of loyalty, laughter, and love that’s fit for royalty. If you are interested in adding Vivi to your family, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2673600##
