Story
Tess was rescued after a Good Samaritan saved her from the harsh streets of McAllen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas/Mexico border. She was likely dumped, common in the area, as she was found on a back road with no homes for miles. She was super matted and it took three hours to remove the horrible matting, flea bath and removing huge ticks on her poor little body. No more sleeping on the harsh streets for this princess. Despite her ruff life before rescue, Tess is very social. She gets along really well with other dogs and loves to play. She's great with kids. She lets you put bows in her hair. Tess goes on daily walks, is potty & crate trained and is ready to go to her furever home! According to her foster (who obviously adores her): 12/14/2025: "Tess is sweet, loving, loves to cuddle and receive attention. She’s great on her walkies & gets along with dogs her size. She’s still a little skiddish be she’s outgrowing it." 12/11/2025: "Her eyelashes are gorgeous!! This little bundle of fur loves to give kisses, loves to wrestle & zoomies with her foster sister Piper and loves to cuddle! Gets along great with our pack of 4!!!" 12/6/25: "Tess is so pretty and the sweetest most innocent pup I’ve met yet! She loves to cuddle & give kisses. She’ll guard you at your feet thru the night. Cant wait for her transformation This is what fostering does for dogs rescued straight from the streets. She’s learning a humans touch isn’t always hurtful, learning to love and be loved and most of all gain her confidence back from those horrible streets that hurt her so much in McAllen." Tess is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring her up and into their home- the next transport arrives January 9th! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2615393##

Story
Kensington — “Mama Kensi” — is a 2.5-year-old Shih-Tzu/Schnauzer sweetheart who survived the odds after being found stray and pregnant in Texas. She safely raised her six babies in our care, and now it’s finally her turn to be cherished. Kensi is fully potty trained, gentle, affectionate, great with other dogs, and the perfect blend of playful and calm. Her deep, expressive eyes tell a story of hope and resilience, and she’s ready to share her heart with a loving family who will adore her for the rest of her life. She would love a home with a yard, a warm lap nearby, and a family who believes in forever just as much as she does. 💕 Go to www.pawsitiverestorations.com to learn about our dogs, read our adoption process, and submit an adoption application. Inquiries made on this site will NOT be seen or answered. Please do not message to ask if our dogs are still available. Go look on the website to see our currently available kiddos!

Story
Hi, I’m Arnold — a tiny guy with a very big heart. I just arrived in Colorado on 12/17 and I’m currently living in a foster home in Aurora with three other dogs who are showing me the ropes. I’m only 8 pounds, so the world still feels pretty big and overwhelming to me right now. I’m shy and nervous at first but very sweet… if you give me a little time to feel safe, I will be your best friend. I came from a hoarding situation in New Mexico, and my life before rescue wasn’t very kind. I arrived matted and neglected, but somehow I never forgot how to love. Once I know I’m safe, I’m affectionate, gentle, and happiest when I’m cuddled up on the couch next to my favorite human. I’m looking for a calm, understanding home that will let me go at my own pace. I would do best in a quiet home with another dog to help me feel brave and show me that the world isn't so scary. Loud noises and sudden movements scare me, so I would not do well with young children at this time. Even though I’m small, I’m not a “bring-me-everywhere” dog. Structure, routine, and a safe home base are what help me thrive. With time, I might enjoy a few outings — or I might decide I’m a homebody, and that’s okay too. What matters most is that my adopters protect my space and help me feel secure. Here are a few things I’m very proud of: • I’m treat motivated and learned "sit" and "come" super fast • I’m crate trained and sleep quietly through the night • I’m mostly potty trained — I just need a consistent routine • I’m great with other dogs and have done well around cats and even chickens • I’ve learned to walk on leash as long as I can follow another dog (or even better, a pack!) I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines, and even had a dental cleaning before coming to Colorado — my smile is ready for my forever family! Plus, all POSO dogs (that’s me!) come with two free private training sessions to help set us up for success.

Good with dogs,
Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet dog that needs our help. Willow is one of these dogs that deserves our loving assistance due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a dog-crazy family. Our dream for this wonderful little being is to have a home filled with nothing but pure love and nurturing for the rest of her life. Willow is a gorgeous 7ish year old Shih Tzu / Poodle mix that is amazing! She is 14 lbs of wiggles and kisses. Willow is SO sweet and once acclimated to her new life, will make a wonderful addition to a family that is seeking a full-time best friend. Willow's Texas rescuer had the following to brag about our amazing pup: This stunning little Shih Tzu / Poodle (we can't say her breeds with certainty as no DNA test was done) was shockingly found as a stray in New Mexico and brought into a small high-kill shelter where no dog should ever be. The kind folks at Rescued Pets Movement were contacted about saving this tiny girl's life. How could they say no..her sweet nature and kind eyes were simply irresistible. This precious girl has the biggest, brightest eyes you’ve ever seen — the kind that look right into your heart and silently ask for love. She’s listed as 7ish or so years old, but we believe her to be younger. She looks (and acts!) like a happy-go-lucky young girl. Despite everything she’s been through, she still comes right up to people with her waggy tail and sweet smile seeking love and affection. Willow arrived at the shelter looking like she hadn't been cared for in a very long time, yet she was incredibly sweet. She was a bit frightened in the loud, overwhelming shelter environment, but her kind soul shines through instantly. She takes treats readily — and so gently — and she melts the moment she feels a kind hand near her. This amazing dog absolutely does not deserve to be in a shelter. She is far too loving, gentle, and pure-hearted to spend another day without a home. All she needs is someone who will show her what it feels like to be cherished, nurtured, warm, and safe. Upon her arrival in Texas, Willow was immediately placed in a foster home. Her foster mom wanted to share the following: "What else can I say other then this girl is pretty much perfect!? Her fun-loving, silly, and loving personality is a joy to behold! How can this tiny stray be so absolutely wonderful? Whoever is lucky enough to have Willow join their family is truly getting a gift! Willow is a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a smaller size, well-behaved dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and very sweet personality. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Willow the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Willow will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible dog. She would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved. Willow would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. We believe that Willow is too sensitive a girl to spend the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home alone. Willow's non-shedding coat (although we can never swear to it) is currently shelter-sad. She therefore will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 weeks) and great nutrition. A five star food and daily salmon oil supplement will provide the nutrition necessary for Willow's coat to become cottony-soft and shining with excellent health. Willow has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. This supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation challenges in the canine population. Willow is arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 1/7/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Willow please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
