Story

It’s just not right that these absolutely wonderful ladies have been at the rescue for many, many years, most of their lives. Sasha and Scarlett are certainly a unique pair, with their awesome, one of a kind looks, matched by their big, fun, personalities. They are very friendly, sweet, happy girls, with lots of energy, who love to be with people. They enjoy cuddly lap time, lots of affection, leash walks, romping on the yard, belly rubs for Scarlett, and a little toy playing for Sasha. They are easy to walk together on leashes, and they get along with other dogs. Sasha (brown and grey, about 11 years old) is the mother of Scarlett (black and white, about 10 years old), both Shih Tzu/Terrier mixes. They are currently somewhat overweight, but should be at proper weight about 14 pounds for Sasha, and 17 pounds for Scarlett. They have been bypassed year after year for our more classic Shih Tzus. It’s hard enough to adopt pairs, especially mixes, but Sasha and Scarlett have a special bond, and we will keep them together for their senior years ahead. If you believe you are the special person they have been waiting for, please put in an application today. Please watch the video at the end of the photos to see Sasha and Scarlett showing off all their fantastic qualities. You will not find a more beautiful pair that will fill your home with lots of love and joy. October 18, 2026, 5:08 pm

Story

Casper has all the joy, playfulness, and energy of a young, happy, boy. He is sweet and very friendly, and couldn’t be any cuter. He will spend endless hours enjoying your company, playing fetch, and cuddling. He walks nicely on a leash and gets along well with other dogs. He is a great playmate for another dog of similar size and age, that also likes to play with other dogs. He has made a good playmate buddy in Tyler, who is also available for adoption. Casper is an adorable, all white Shih Tzu, about 2-3 years old and 14-15 pounds. He came from a very tragic home, where he lost vision in his right eye from prior trauma. He takes one eye drop daily in that eye. His left eye is normal and has good vision. Story

It’s hard to believe these most beautiful and wonderful boys have been with us for about 2 years. They continue to be passed on for our smaller Shih Tzus, simply because they are on the larger size of the Shih Tzu spectrum. Mikey James and Leo Thomas couldn’t be any friendlier or nicer, and almost always have their tails wagging. They absolutely adore being with people and every bit of attention they receive. Hubbard

Dachshund Papillon

Male

Weston, FL

Size

(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less

Details

Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,

Story

6 year old 13 pound male Hubbard came to us from a local shelter 6 months ago. He had been hit by a car at some point and has some old and healed fractures. He sometimes skips a bit on a back leg, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. The most significant injury was a spinal fracture that has healed. The surgeon didn’t want to rebreak and repair any of his old fractures because she feared destabilizing the spinal fracture and paralyzing him. He can walk fine, but the damage has left him unable to potty on his own. He needs his little bladder squeezed and poo just poos. He doesn’t mind a belly band and loves to walk around the yard and look like he’s marking his territory with nothing coming out We are sure there is a family out there who would love this amazing fluffy boy. Some of these pictures are before he got shaved and then after his grooming we got to see his beautiful brindle stripes. H e was heartworm positive when we got him and he’s been fully treated. This is what is foster mom says about him: “He is quiet and inquisitive, loves pets, he doesn’t hang with the other dogs but seems to enjoy their company, feels like he had a hard life and is trying to get used to things being better loves to snuggle. He is such a sweet gentle soul. He has these eyes that look at you like he can’t believe it while he is getting pets &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143‍”If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the DRSF Online Adoption form.My adoption fee covers all my (prior) vet care (adopter receives vet records).
