Story
Panni - Please be sure to read Medical Notes below.A 3 1/3 year old girl who is truly lovely - her momma's family raves about her - she's calm, happy to be a lap dog, but can also be playful. Her mom's daughter reached out to Paws New England because her elderly mom was unable to properly care for Panni (see below re: IMHA). She has required medications for her IMHA condition, and it was not always possible for her mom to remember to give the medications.Panni just arrived at our foster home today, and so far she's doing quite well - obviously a little confused, so we will be watching her for the next week or so to get a real feeling for her personality and needs. She's ignoring the cat (who almost looks to be her size) and is doing quite well with the other dogs in the home. She'd be an amazing friend for someone who likes a dog on their lap!! If you think you may be interested in this adorable fluff ball, feel free to apply now, and as we learn more about her, we can most certainly keep you updated. Medical Note for Panni: IMHAUPDATE Panni is making improvements on a new medication regimen for her IMHA. Her skin still has some considerable symptoms, but this disease often makes things look worse before better.Panni has a condition called immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). The good news is that she has responded remarkably well to treatment, which consists of two pills twice a day. The vet is currently weaning her off this medication, as she is doing so well.IMHA is an autoimmune condition where the body mistakenly attacks its own red blood cells. While this is a serious diagnosis, many dogs go on to live happy, full lives after treatment. There is a small chance (about 10–15%) that it could return, so her future family should be attentive to any changes and seek veterinary care right away if concerns arise.Panni is feeling great right now and is ready to enjoy life in a loving, committed home that understands her medical history and will continue to monitor her health.More info on IMHA: https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/cardiovascular/imha-immune-mediated-hemolytic-anemia-dogsMedications for her condition are not exorbitant - approx. $50 per month when needed. if needed, Paws NE woud be willing to assist with medication purchase.Name: PanniBreed: Shih TzuSex: FemaleAge: 4 years (estimated)Weight: 17 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: Location of dog currently:    South Shore MassachusettsIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if needed.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Hamlett, an adorable Shih Tzu with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This handsome boy is looking for a family to call his own.Hamlett is a friendly, affectionate dog who loves people and enjoys being part of the action. He has never met a stranger and is happy to make friends wherever he goes. Whether he's greeting visitors, spending time with family, or soaking up attention, Hamlett thrives on companionship. He gets along well with other dogs and especially enjoys playing and wrestling with his canine friends. Like many playful pups, he can get a little overly excited during roughhousing and may try to be the boss, so continued supervision and positive guidance during playtime are recommended. He also lives peacefully with cats and completely ignores them.Hamlett is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. If he needs to go outside, he'll politely let you know with a bark. He is doing wonderfully with house training and has very few accidents in the home. He also travels well and has done great on trips to and from the vet. With a medium energy level, Hamlett enjoys a balance of playtime and relaxation. He's happy to join in on family activities, romp around with dog friends, and then settle in for some well-earned downtime.Hamlett is a loving, social companion who would make a wonderful addition to many different types of homes. If you're looking for a cheerful, friendly dog who gets along with people, dogs, and cats, Hamlett may be the perfect match for you.Name: HamlettBreed: Shih Tzu/Crossbreed   (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 8lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:  Texas IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Paki is a Hispanic dog, he understands only spanish words. He's very good and loves to cuddle. He gets real bad anxiety when left alone, when grooming or loud sounds. There's nothing wrong with him but his separation anxiety is putting us in a bad spot. He needs a home that can be with him and give him the love he needs. He's 9 years old this August and has been neutered.
