Hello, I am Toby. I am 2 years old and 19 pounds. I am a stocky, short-legged little man. My foster mom says my personality sounds like a Skye Terrier. I'm not your typical dog, you see. I'm independent yet devoted, a bit standoffish but fiercely loyal to those I cherish. I'm sweet and cuddly, with a gentle soul that yearns for companionship. I've grown fond of the human here but she knew and understood I just needed time and space to figure things out on my own. Don't be fooled by my standoffishness. This is simply my way of assessing the world around me. Once I decide you're trustworthy, I will show you a level of loyalty that is rare and beautiful. I am fiercely loyal to those I hold in high regard, a testament to my devoted nature. You see, I just need a person who will allow me time to adjust to new things. You can't force me to pay attention to you as I need to sit back and observe you first. I'm not going to jump up and down for you when we first meet either as I need time to observe and figure out on my own that I can trust you and that you are worth my love. I will be is a high flight risk if I get loose. I can never be let off leash unless in a secure fenced yard. I walk well on a leash and walk close to my owner's side. I am kennel trained and live with dogs and a cat and I mostly ignore the cat. If you're looking for a loyal friend who will cherish you unconditionally, look no further. Diamond and her friend Sheba were found in an apartment after their owner had passed away. Diamond is 14 years old and Sheba is a 17-year-old corgi mix. Diamond was severely matted and hair overgrown. Diamond is healthy and in good shape. She is great with dogs and cats. She walks well on a leash. She can be a little shy. She will need a dental in the next year. She will sit with you for a little bit or scratch your leg for attention. But we wouldn't consider her a huge lap dog.
