Bubbles and her sister and brother, Buttercup and Brodie were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd this year so they are 8 months old. Bubbles has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs just under 9 pounds and is probably full grown now. Bubbles is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Although and three pups are extremely sweet, Bubbles is a most friendly and a super snuggler! She plays great with her brother and sister and we feel like she would be fine with other dogs after getting to know them. She would do well with older children and we have not had her around cats but we feel like she would be fine with proper introduction. At 11 pounds, she’s a compact powerhouse who loves toys, tennis balls, chasing squirrels, and patrolling the yard like she owns the place. Birds, however, are on her personal “no&#226&#128&#145fly” list and she’ll happily tell them so. Friendly with new people and full of personality, Mochi settles into a new home with ease. Show her the yard, show her the routine, and she’ll immediately assume her rightful role as household diva. She’s playful, goofy, smart, and absolutely convinced she’s in charge—yet she’s never pushy or aggressive with other dogs. Mochi communicates clearly and directly: if she’s hungry, bored, or simply needs attention, she’ll bark right at you to make sure you get the message. She’s also surprisingly “helpful”—once offering to keep her foster mom’s stomach warm during sit&#226&#128&#145ups. She’s a presence, in the best possible way. She’s potty trained, good with dogs, and moderately active. She’s not leash trained and can be fearful of new things, so a secure 6&#226&#128&#145foot fenced yard is important. Crate training is still a work in progress; she’ll bark at first but settles more easily with white noise and a treat bribe. Given the choice, she’d much rather sleep in bed with her humans. Mochi is currently being evaluated for bladder stones, so her future diet may need adjusting, but for now she’s doing great and feeling better than ever after surgery. She truly does not act like a senior—she’s spirited, playful, and ready to take on life with her new family. Meet Pecan 🤎 Pecan is a Shih Tzu–Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a tiny body. He’s a great eater and never misses a meal, and he’s also the most vocal of the bunch. If he has something to say, you’ll hear it. He loves to play hard with his littermates, then crash just as hard, usually claiming the coziest spot at the bottom of the puppy pile. Meet Prince, who is an 8-year-old brown and white Shih Tzu Teddy Bear (part Shih Tzu and part Bichon Frise). He is fairly large at 30 pounds, but is not overweight and he does actually think and act like a "Teddy Bear". He is soft and cuddly and very gentle. He has been with one owner his entire life, but his owner has now gone into a retirement home and is unable to care for him. Prince is used to being with someone at home 24/7 and we will be looking for a family who is home all day. Prince enjoys daily walks, and one of the best things about Prince is that he is reliably house trained. He will definitely tell you when he wants to go out and if you ignore him, he'll keep trying to tell you. We hope his new family will have a fenced yard in which he can explore. He sleeps in his own bed at the end of his foster mom's bed but every once in a while, he jumps up onto her bed and curls up to go to sleep . PRINCE enjoys people and would be comfortable in a home with any number of individuals, including older, well behaved children. As mentioned, he is a gentle dog, and will greet other dogs, sometimes licking them with affection. He would be okay with another dog in the house as well. These are the requirements for Prince’s new family: 1. A family where someone is home almost all day. 2. A family with children over the age of ten who have experience with respectfully interacting with dogs will be considered. 3. A fenced yard would be great, but is not a deal breaker. If his new family doesn’t have a fenced yard, they must be able to walk him daily so that he has a chance to enjoy the outdoors. 4. Allow Prince to sleep on their bed if he chooses. 5. Would be fine being in household with another small dog. 6. Live within 25 miles of Edina, MN. 7. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.
