If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete  an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at www.rescuecrew.org   Hi! My name is MJ, but my foster parents call me Loki. I’m a 3-year-old, neutered male Shih Tzu mix. I weigh about 14 pounds, and I am a very solidlittle guy. I was turned into a local dog shelter looking pretty rough; my coat was full of mats and I was really dirty, but everything else about me isgood! My former family cared enough about me to drop me off at the shelter and for that I am grateful. From the shelter, I was taken in by the Rescue Crew and my foster parents. I was taken to a groomer, and I got a bath and this super short haircut you see me sporting in the photos. The one with the longer fur is from my intake to the shelter. I think my best look will be somewhere between these two! By the way, one unique feature I have is one brown eye and one blue eye and I see just perfect! My foster parents say I am the smartest dog they have ever had. I know how to sit, fetch – I love fetching balls all day long, I come when I’m called,I without fail go into my kennel, when you say,  “kennel,” even when I am tempted with something I’d really like to investigate. I sleep in my kennel all night with my blanket, bone and stuffed animal in my foster parents’ bedroom. I’d rather not sleep alone in another room, but during the day, I do stay in my kennel, with the TV on, if they go somewhere. They have left me out for short periods of time, and when they return they just find me resting in my dog bed. I don’t cry or act out ever. I eat my food very well and I love treats! I’m 100% potty trained; never had an accident. Oh, did I mention I love to fetch and playball? I like to go for walks, but I am still learning how to walk on a leash, I don’t think I ever have done this before. My best feature, beyond being smart, is my personality. I am fun, loving, joyful, good natured and love to be with my people. I also have the right mix of independence, so chewing a bone, playing with toys or resting in my bed are ok with me too, I don’t need all your attention. I do bark at things in the yard and when I hear things in the house, so shared walls are not for me. I am not a yappy dog, but I bark. I would LOVE a fenced yard because I need a good deal of activity. I am a small dog, with short legs, so jogging or running are not for me, but walking is great. I am not a lap dog. At night, I do love to sit on a lap and snuggle. I don’t need or like a lot of petting, just snuggling. I will require regular grooming, so I don’t get myself into this circumstance again where all my fur needs to be cut off. My foster parents think about 4 times per year. I am untested with kids, but I think I’d like them. I am not sure cats are up my alley! If you think I might be the right dog for you/your family, please fill out an application with as much detail as you can share, so my foster parents can get to know you. If it feels like we might be a good match, a call will be scheduled with you to talk further. Thank you for your interest in a rescue dog. We’re all great good dogs that just need a second chance. Here’s to a great future together, Loki. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.  The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.  ##2633471##

Story
Buttercup and her sister, Bubbles were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd last year so they are now a year old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs about 6 pounds and is full grown now. She is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little shy at first, and she definitely tries to boss her sister around, but they really love each other! She and Buttercup are very bonded and we would very much like to get them a home together. They are so funny together! They play and run zoomies around the house. They would do well with older children and we have not had them around cats but we feel like they would be fine with proper introduction. If you would like to give this super affectionate love bug along with her sister, their forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. Story
Some dogs are able to recover from neglect or abuse faster than others…..if only they could tell us about those early years of their life. Cody is a 3.5 yr old. 13# male Shih Tzu/maltese former breeder dog that is still in the process of his recovery, and is hoping someone with patience and previous dog experience is able to take him and continue working with him. Another small, playful dog and a secure fenced yard are also requirements to help him be successful. Cody would not be suited to a family with children of any age because of his fears of new people, loud noises, and fast movements. He has been in his foster home for quite a while – he trusts his foster mom, and is relaxed and seeks attention from her, but transitioning into a new home could be like starting all over again. Let me tell you more about him. His foster mom is retired, and home with him most of the time. Cody prefers to approach her for cuddle time when she is sitting or laying down, instead of towering over him. He comes to her when she calls him inside the house, but doesn’t have recall when he is out in the yard, so he is either contained in a kennel area when out, or drags a long leash around in his fenced area so you can use that instead of grabbing at him when he’s out. If someone scares or forces him, or raises their voice, it takes quite a while for him to forgive you. He tolerates meeting new people, but is more fearful of men and might try to hide from them. His foster home has a doggie door that he has learned to use, but his new home might not; Cody is willing to go out into the cold for a short time, so you will need to establish a schedule that works for him, and have a potty pad down for emergencies. His meals are dry food soaked in water for 5 minutes – he can be reluctant to eat, and acts like he is watching for new people to approach. Cody is most comfortable around the resident dogs, and loves to run and play with them. The other dog/dogs in the home should be tolerant, playful, be good pack leaders and “show him the ropes”. Cody rides OK in the car, in a crate. In warmer weather, he has been taken on short walks – doesn’t understand the purpose of a walk when there is a perfectly wonderful fenced yard to run around in. Cody has a loud bark, so best suited to single-family home instead of a building that shares a wall with another family. Cody is neutered, and current on vaccinations. The heartworm test and tick profile are all negative. He requires grooming about every 3 months. If you have questions, or would like to adopt Cody, call 651-771-5662. His adoption fee is $300 .
