Whiscuit is an 11-month-old imperial (tiny) male Shih Tzu cutie, weighing only 4.5 pounds. Whiscuit is a happy-go-lucky fella who would love to play with you and join you in whatever it is you’re doing! He is happy to play with all sorts of toys, but his favorite ones are crinkly and ones that he can take around the house. Whiscuit is not particularly food motivated, but he still enjoys a treat every now and then. He’d love to sit in your lap while you’re working and run out his zoomies when you take breaks. Whiscut is getting used to being outside and walking on a leash, and enjoys stopping and sniffing around the yard and neighborhood. He is good with the children of the foster family and while he can be shy at first, is interested in meeting other pups! Because Whiscuit is still a young puppy, he will need an adopter committed to basic puppy training, potty training reinforcement, and gentle guidance as he grows. He’s smart, eager to please, and will make a wonderful companion for the right family. If you’re looking for a goofy, sweet, small-breed puppy to add joy to your days, Whiscuit is looking for his forever home! The following are requirements for Whiscuit’s future family: · Because small breed dogs can live 16+ years, applications will be accepted only from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide activity, care and support for Whiscuit for his entire life. · Applications will be considered if there are children in the home over the age of ten and if they have had previous experience in gently interacting with small dogs. · A family who is patient, home most of the day and will continue Whiscuit’s house training and leash training, and will expose him to new dog appropriate experiences. · Provide Whiscuit with plenty of daily exercise and stimulation, including walks and supervised time in the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal. · Whiscuit would be perfectly happy being an only dog, but can also live with another small dog in the home who has similar energy. · Live within 30 minutes of Saint Paul. · Agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Whiscuit is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $520.00 plus $46.93 sales tax for a total of $566.93. Buttercup and her sister, Bubbles were surrendered to a kill shelter because their owners just had too many and couldn’t find homes on their own. Their mom is a long-haired Chihuahua and their daddy is a Shih Tzu and they were born on February 2nd last year so they are now a year old. Buttercup has been spayed, is up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She’s also microchipped. She weighs about 6 pounds and is full grown now. She is great at the Vet and The Groomer and loves riding in the car. She needs a little practice on the leash and she’s making great progress on house training. Buttercup is a little shy at first, and she definitely tries to boss her sister around, but they really love each other! She and Buttercup are very bonded and we would very much like to get them a home together. They are so funny together! They play and run zoomies around the house. They would do well with older children and we have not had them around cats but we feel like they would be fine with proper introduction. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Molly is an approximately 2 year old shih tzu who was surrendered to us by an in-home breeder who is getting out of the business. She's very small and delicate, weighing around 8 pounds. She can be a little shy but is very loving and doesn't mind being held and cuddled. She has been vet checked, spayed, had a dental cleaning, and a good grooming. Her fee is $150. Molly would do best in an adult only home or one with kids over 10. She will need some basic training, like learning to walk on a leash. She would love a home that is experienced with dogs like her, especially their grooming needs. We do think she would do well with another small dog and she should do okay with cats. We do want to reiterate that she will need regular grooming. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
