Meet Roo, aka Roo-Roo, Kangaroo 🦘 Hi there, I’m a 2-year-old Shih Tzu mix (teddy bear) I have an adorable underbite, and a personality that’s equal parts goofy, sweet, and just a tiny bit suspicious of… well, everything! Let’s just say I’m not entirely convinced that ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night aren’t real. Sometimes I jump when things unexpectedly move or at loud noises! I'll bark and defend against things that aren't even there. Sometimes I bark at new people or let out a little growl when I’m nervous, but I promise I’m just trying to figure things out. I just need a little time to feel safe. I can be especially unsure around the boys, so a little extra patience goes a long way. Once I get to know you though, my sweet side really shines! I love pets, snuggles, walks, and playing fetch. I have this adorable way of standing up and putting my paws together to say “pretty please,” or am I offering up a little prayer that ghosts and goblins go away? Who knows? I came into rescue pretty badly matted, so I’ll need a patient, kind groomer who can help me learn that grooming doesn’t have to be scary. My dream home is one filled with understanding, kindness, and people who won’t expect me to be brave about everything right away. I need someone willing to let me settle in at my own pace, build my confidence, and show me that the world isn’t quite as spooky as I sometimes think it is. Hi, my name is Ferris Wheel and I am from Iowa! Ferris Wheel (we call him Peanut) is an adorable 15 pound, 7 month old neutered, male. Ferris Wheel’s first months were not the best and he is lacking in early socialization. People, loud noises, and new environments, tend to scare him. I took him to a couple of adoption events and he did fantastic. He was curious to meet the dogs, approached a couple of people for petting and even ate a few treats from a stranger. Now that he feels relaxed in our fenced-in backyard, he gets the zoomies and runs around and around. I love watching him enjoy himself. He has also learned that toys can be fun and can entertain himself. He enjoys sitting with you on the couch and sleeping in bed with you (but doesn’t have to). As Ferris Wheel is fearful of new people and noises, he barks a lot when surprised or alarmed and he may attempt to nip when startled. He can also be mouthy when playing or excited. He will benefit from obedience training to help him learn alternative behaviors. Ferris Wheel is a loving male with an under socialized beginning. He gets along fine with my senior dogs and listens if they tell him to back off. I think he would thrive in a quiet home (no children, no cats, no shared walls) that would enjoy taking him places and enrolling him in positive motivational obedience training. It would be very rewarding to watch him get over his fears, learn acceptable behaviors and develop self confidence. He needs someone that wants to help him become a happy, relaxed little guy.

Meet Teddy, who is a 4-year-old white and tan Shih Tzu/mix (part Shih Tzu and perhaps Bichon Frise). He weighs 16 pounds, but looks larger than that because of all his beautiful fluffy, fur. He is soft and cuddly but also quite shy. He requires some time to warm up to people, but when he does, he can be quite playful and affectionate. He gets along with other dogs that visit his foster mom’s home regularly and loves to tease her current elderly dog who lives in her home. He enjoys being brushed and groomed and has wonderful house manners, including being well housetrained. Because he is he is shy at first, he will need to go to a home with individuals who have had experience and patience with introverted dogs and have no young children. He would probably be okay in a family with older, well-behaved children who know how to gently and appropriately interact with a small dog. These are the requirements for Teddy’s new family: 1. A family where someone is home almost all day. 2. A family with children over the age of ten will be considered if they have had experience with and understand how respectfully to and appropriately interact with small dogs. 3. A fenced yard would be great but is not a deal breaker. If his new family doesn’t have a fenced yard, they must be able to walk him daily so that he has a chance to enjoy the outdoors. 4. Allow Teddy to sleep in their bedroom on his dog bed, or better yet, with them in their bed. 5. Would be fine being in household with another small dog or happy being the only dog in the family. 6. Live within 25 miles of Edina, MN. 7. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Teddy has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive. His adoption fee is $420.00 plus $37.91 in sales tax for a total of $457.91. Meet Yoshi — Professional Couch Lounger, Beginner Waddler! 🐾❤️ Yoshi is an approximately 8-year-old sweetheart looking for a home after his previous owner had to surrender him due to health issues. He’s a laid-back gentleman who loves people, is great with kids, and is happy just hanging out on the sofa. He’s house-trained, non-destructive, and trustworthy when left alone. No puppy shenanigans here! Yoshi currently shares a kennel with his buddy Cooper and sleeps peacefully through the night, but he’d be delighted to snuggle in your bed, too! He’s great on a leash, although right now it’s more of a waddle than a power walk! 😂 He’s carrying some extra weight and needs a family willing to help him get healthier with regular walks and sensible portions. He's currently not the most motivated to walk! Toys and playtime are still a bit of a mystery to him, but being a very good boy? He’s got that figured out!
