Story
Name: Huckleberry I just had my cardiac surgery to fix my broken heart and I'm doing very well!   Gender: Male Approximate age: 5 months Breed: Shih Tzu mix /Ewok mix Weight: 13 pounds Any impairments: One eye and cardiac surgery to repair his PDA but no ongoing medical issues or restrictions.  Potty trained: mostly Crate trained: mostly, he will protest at times Good with other dogs: yes (he would prefer another dog in the home) Good with cats: yes Good with kids: Yes Commands known: working on it Needs fenced in yard: no Needs another dog: would prefer Location: Kalamazoo, MI Energy level: puppy high energy   Bio: Hello Rebel Alliance friends! I'm Mr. Huckleberry, the Ewok.    My time with the Rebel Alliance resulted in losing one eye in battle. As an Ewok war hero, I don't let that slow me down. I am always ready to party and make new friends especially in the Rebel Alliance.    I've had a long journey to get where I am now. I came into the emergency vet with an eye injury where they discovered that I had a grade 4 heart murmur. I was surrendered to the emergency vet which is how I landed with Speak. The Veterinarian who saved my life named me Huckleberry and that fits me so well!   I recently had my cardiac surgery and I am recovering . Getting neutered is going to happen after I get well, very soon.    I am 110% an extrovert! I love everyone. Sometimes I am a bit much for my kitty or dog friends because I don't think party time is over, but I always mean well.    Just like the rest of the Rebel Alliance, I am quite brave and always ready for an adventure. I am no couch potato and need a family that will help me get out and meet new friends, go for car rides, on walks and experience all the adventures a war hero deserves.    Despite my love of adventure, I also love to snuggle at the end of the day and enjoy some couch time or my new family's lap.    May the Force be with you.   ***PLEASE READ*** WE DO NOT RESPOND TO PETFINDER OR EMAIL INQUIRIES. Teddi is a wonderful dog but needs to be in a home with another dog or children. She would require a fenced backyard as she is a very very fast runner. I am older and she is just overwhelming me with her energy. She is very playful and energetic.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Pippa, a sweet puppy mill survivor who is discovering just how wonderful life can be as a cherished family member. Her favorite place is curled up in a lap or snuggled close to her people. She may be a little shy when first meeting someone, but once she feels comfortable, her gentle and loving personality shines through. Pippa has a low-to-moderate energy level and enjoys daily walks almost as much as she enjoys cuddling. She generally prefers to potty while walking, although she is also accustomed to using a yard. Because she likes to keep her eyes on her person, she sometimes needs a little encouragement to wander far enough away to take care of business. Pippa does well with her housetraining when kept on a consistent potty schedule, but a patient and understanding home will go a long way toward helping her acclimate. Because she is still learning her leash skills, a secure, physically fenced yard is required for her adoption. This quiet girl is occasionally playful with other dogs and will sometimes pick up a toy, especially a good chew toy. She is comfortable around dogs of all sizes and could live either with or without a canine companion. Another dog may provide some reassurance when her family is away, but what matters most to Pippa is having people nearby. Mealtime is one of Pippa’s greatest joys! She celebrates with some impressive jumps but is learning to sit and wait patiently for her food. With continued gentle, positive reinforcement, she will keep building on everything she is learning in her foster home. After spending her earlier life in a puppy mill, Pippa is still learning that her people will always come back. She becomes anxious and may bark when left alone, so her best home will have someone there most of the time and be willing to help her gradually build confidence when home alone. She rests nicely in her crate while her family is home and is generally comfortable outside the crate when they leave. A calm, patient home committed to helping Pippa feel safe and secure will be rewarded with a devoted little companion who wants nothing more than to share walks, meals and plenty of snuggles. Pippa is being fostered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and her adoption fee is $625. She has been spayed and microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and started on monthly heartworm prevention. She has also had a dental cleaning.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  October 4, 2026, 1:19 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Nora! Nora is a sweet girl with plenty of pep in her step! She’s known to break out the zoomies and loves going for walks, spending time outside, curling up in a soft bed, and—perhaps most importantly—treats and mealtime. Carrots are an extra-special favorite! Nora is an independent little lady who also enjoys being close to her people. She’ll happily follow you around the house and believes everyone deserves a proper greeting when they come through the door—complete with an enthusiastic tail wag. She especially enjoys ear rubs and has a wonderfully sweet personality. Nora seems particularly fond of men and would love having a special person of her own to adore. Nora does well with other dogs, although she prefers canine companions who are fairly independent rather than looking to her as a constant playmate. She took some time to warm up to the dog in her foster home, so a patient introduction will help her feel comfortable. She could also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as someone’s one-and-only pup. Nora does very well with her housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule and will often wait by the back door to let you know she needs to go outside. She loves spending time in the yard, relaxing and keeping an eye on the neighborhood, so a secure physical fence will give her a safe place to enjoy her outdoor time. Nora can be a little sensitive to sudden noises and thunderstorms, and when something startles her, she appreciates having her person nearby for a little extra reassurance. A calm voice and some comforting attention go a long way, and she’s soon ready to settle back into her routine. Nora doesn’t let a little stiffness in her hip slow her down! She continues to enjoy her walks, outdoor time, and those adorable bursts of zoomies. She has medication available if she needs a little extra support, but she’s been doing so well that she hasn’t needed it in quite some time. Nora is ready for a loving home where she can enjoy all her favorite things—walks, soft beds, good food, ear rubs, plenty of affection, and maybe a cooked carrot or two. This sweet girl still has lots of love, personality, and happy tail wags to share with the lucky person who makes her part of their family. Nora is being fostered in Central Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and is on monthly heartworm prevention. Nora’s adoption fee is $400.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Penelope, a happy, energetic young girl who will celebrate her first birthday on October 10th! Penelope loves people and enjoys the company of other dogs. She has a joyful, enthusiastic personality and approaches life with all the excitement and curiosity you would expect from a puppy. She loves Nylabones and other durable chew toys and is always ready to play. Because of Penelope’s energy and exuberant play style, she is best suited to a home without young children. She is still learning appropriate puppy manners, including how to trade an item she has for something of higher value. She can occasionally be possessive of food or special chews around other dogs, so these items should be carefully managed while her training continues. A young, energetic companion dog is recommended, provided the dogs meet beforehand and are a good match. Penelope’s enthusiasm may be overwhelming for an older or more laid-back dog. She has been around a dog friendly cat and does well with him. Penelope requires a securely fenced yard where she can safely run, play, and burn off her puppy energy. She is comfortable sleeping in her crate at night and resting there when her foster family is away. She also does well for the groomer and has no known medical concerns. Penelope is looking for an active, patient family that will continue helping her develop good manners while embracing her wonderfully happy puppy personality. With positive guidance, plenty of activity, and lots of love, this cheerful girl will bring fun and affection to her forever home! Penelope’s adoption donation is $750, and she is currently being fostered in the Cleveland area. She has been spayed and microchipped and is current on her rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella, and bivalent canine influenza vaccines. She has tested negative for heartworms and is on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog.
