Story
If your idea of a perfect Saturday sounds like sleeping in a little, sipping coffee on the patio, running a few errands, and then spending the rest of the day curled up on the couch with your dog... Nacho Libre would like to volunteer as tribute.
He's the kind of dog that's happiest just being with his people. Whether he's sitting in your lap while you watch TV, following you around the house, or claiming the best spot on the patio while you enjoy your morning coffee, Nacho has this calm, cozy way about him that makes life feel just a little more relaxing. Plus... have you seen this face? Good luck telling him no when he's looking at you like that.
Watch his video and prepare to fall in love with this fluffy little cuddle bug: https://youtu.be/fR79VYGLEp8?si=shulxtunC3L5eqDs
Nacho is believed to be approximately 3 years old and currently weighs around 13 pounds. As with any rescue dog, his exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is he's a Shih Tzu mix. Whatever combination created him also gave him the fluffiest little face, an easygoing personality, and a serious talent for professional-level cuddling.
If you're looking for a velcro dog that wants to be wherever you are, Nacho is absolutely your guy. He loves his people and has fully embraced the couch potato lifestyle. His foster says one of his favorite things is simply sitting on the couch together watching TV, and honestly, Nacho seems to think that's quality time at its finest. He's affectionate without being demanding, happy to curl up in your lap whenever you'll let him, and has such a calm, gentle presence that's incredibly comforting to have around.
Even though cuddling is definitely his favorite hobby, Nacho still has a playful side. Every now and then another dog will convince him it's time to play, and he'll break out the cutest little zoomies before settling right back into relaxation mode. It's the perfect balance. You get the occasional goofy, playful moment without feeling like you're constantly trying to keep up with a dog that never slows down.
Nacho is currently fostered with seven other small dogs and gets along wonderfully with all of them. He enjoys their company, happily coexists, and joins in on play when invited, but he's just as content lounging nearby while everyone else entertains themselves. He's also met larger dogs and has done well with them too. That said, we think he'd be happiest with canine companions that match his mellow personality. He's much more interested in sharing a couch than participating in an all-day wrestling match, so calm, respectful dogs that enjoy peaceful companionship are right up his alley. He'd also be perfectly happy as your one and only if that means getting all of the attention to himself.
Nacho also recently met our house cat, Biggie, and we couldn't have asked for a sweeter introduction. He was respectful from the very beginning, didn't chase him, wasn't bothered by Biggie jumping around or doing typical cat things, and Biggie seemed completely comfortable sharing the space with him. Since we don't know if Nacho has ever lived with a cat before, we can't officially guarantee how he'd do long term, but his first introduction couldn't have gone much better. If you have a cat at home, we're happy to arrange a kitty sleepover. Just let us know.
He's also a wonderful little houseguest. Nacho has great house manners in his foster home and spends most of his time free roaming because he's proven himself to be trustworthy when left alone. He's comfortable in a crate if needed, but it's rarely necessary. Like many dogs, he may need a quick reminder about where the appropriate potty spot is when settling into a brand-new home, but once he understands the routine, he does very well.
When it comes to training, Nacho already knows how to sit, loves treats, and always takes them gently. He also has one tiny flaw... if you leave a snack unattended on the coffee table and it's within reach, don't be surprised if it mysteriously disappears. We can't entirely blame him though. We'd probably have a hard time resisting snacks too.
Because of his adaptable personality and lower energy level, Nacho has the potential to thrive in an apartment or a home with a backyard. His foster's favorite part of the day is sitting out on the patio with her husband while Nacho relaxes beside them, soaking up the fresh air and simply enjoying being included. That's really what Nacho wants most in life, to be part of the little everyday moments with his family.
If you've been looking for a dog that's sweet, fluffy, easy to live with, and happiest when he's curled up beside the people he loves, we have a feeling Nacho is going to check every box. Just be prepared... once this little guy climbs into your lap, there's a pretty good chance he won't be giving that spot up anytime soon.
We are willing to test Nacho Libre with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
