URGENT: Can you help me? I need a FOSTER home or an ADOPTIVE home by 11/15/2024. I am currently in Texas awaiting my second chance. Not all pups are lucky to get out but, with your help, I may just have that chance! If you can help, please apply online: www.HBWI.org. Pickle’s journey started when he was found on the street and brought into a veterinary office. Thankfully, a caring vet tech stepped in to give him a second chance! This sweet and hilarious puppy is full of energy and loves to be carried around. He’s always ready for a chat and has a knack for making you smile. If you’re looking for a fun-loving lap dog, Pickle is your guy! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

This goofy little guy proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder—especially when you look like him! With an underbite that can melt the iciest of hearts and a face that practically screams, “Love me!” how could you resist? Beans spent five days living on the streets before a kind rescuer picked him up, and now he’s ready for his forever home. We’re not quite sure what his mix is, but the vet thinks he’s some kind of Shih Tzu. At 42 pounds, Beans is definitely more of a teapot than a teacup Shih Tzu! He’s ready to bring the love and laughter, all he needs is a chance! Story
Hello and please meet Gidget! She`s a 2 year old Shih Tsu Poodle mix from a puppy mill. Even so, she seems socialized with people and looks for connection. Although she can be a little nervous around other dogs, she settles quickly. She is very treat motivated which is helping with her house training. She is still healing up from her surgery, but she is blossoming every day she is in our foster home. Gidget is agile on stairs, and does not always respect your personal space, she really likes to get close. She adores stuffed toys and falls asleep while playing them. And she will let you know if she feels left out of any good time, the FOMO is real with this one. She also will not sleep alone, or if you try to make her, she will let you know what she thinks about that. Dogs: Needs some settling, but ok.Cats: UnknownKids: UnknownFood: Eating wellWalks: Working on leash mannersCrate trained: NoHousetraining: Doing wellYard: Fence needed She is playful, joyful, and learning about new things in the world that she has never seen.

Story
Meet Cash, my foster dog! Cash had a rough start in life. He was rescued from a hoarding situation in Iowa as one of 30 dogs. Despite that, Cash is the most loving and affectionate, 1-year-old Shih Tzu you will meet. Cash craves attention from all the people and kids he sees. He also gets along well with dogs and fits right in with his 3 foster (fur) brothers. Cash is medium energy. He enjoys daily 2-4 mile walks when he gets to explore the outside world but is also happy to cuddle with his humans for an afternoon of binge watching tv shows or napping. Cash spends the day following his foster mom around and would do best in a home where he can be with his owner more often than not. Cash is doing great with house-training (about 90% of the way there) after only a few weeks. He has also been working on commands and knows come and stay. Cash is being fostered in Brookfield, WI. If you are interested in adopting Cash, please apply through New Beginnings Shih Tzu Rescue (https://nbstr.org/adoption-application).

Story
About Me: Name: Rexie Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu mix Approximate Age: 3 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 14 lb Adoption Fee: $400 ($450 - $50 sponsored) Requirements: another small dog, fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: puppy mill surrender Profile:   Rexie came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a very shy girl and will need time and patience to understand and enjoy human companionship.  She is happy when she is in her kennel run with another dog, but very unsure of human touch.  She does need to have another dog in her new home to make her comfortable.  A secure fence will be needed as well.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS November 5, 2024, 8:05 pm
