Story
Dow Jones is one hell of a cat. The lucky family that gets to adopt him will be met with an incredibly loyal, gentle, affectionate, and playful cat that just loves to be in your company. He sleeps at the foot of his fosters bed and gets SO excited when they get home and follows them from room to room.  Besides his humans, his favorite thing in the entire world is his Ripple Rug. It's his comfort place and his play space.  Dow Jones was found on the side of the road, injured and emaciated. With the help of his amazing vet team he fought his way back from the brink of death and had a new lease on life. Little did we know that would just be the beginning of DJ's story. Once he was decompressing in his foster home, it became apparent that he had a lower airway condition, resulting in him coughing and getting congested. After a few hospital stays, DJ was diagnosed with Feline Asthma. It is currently controlled by an inhaler that he takes like a perfect angel 2x a day, and occasionally some oral meds when needed. He knows his routine, and goes to his Ripple Rug when it's time for his inhaler. He takes all of this in his stride because it is so clear that he is so happy to be alive. He absolutely LOVES churu treats and does not care if they come with meds in them.  He's be happy with another cat in the home, or as your one and only! Dow Jones is approximately 4yrs old, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for FeLV, and positive for FIV. If you’re interested in this amazing boy, fill out an application at www.brooklynanimalaction.org/adoption-forms and designate Dana as the rescuer. April 20, 2026, 5:37 pm

Story
I love Hans so much. It brings tears to my eyes to write this. He is such a sweet loving angel, all he wants is to purr on my lap and cuddle his brother Pluto. Hans has some mysterious ongoing hotspot issue that I am no longer able to spend time figuring out, it’s preventing me from traveling and it’s too much of a toll on me after three years of spending all of my time trying to figure it out. He licks himself until he bleeds and he is always itching and trying to reach the lesion. He has been wearing one or two e-collars 24/7 for over 3 years at this point. I have him on immunotherapy shots. Animax cream. I’ve tried special diets. Custom onesies. Gabapentin. I am now convinced he just needs to be with someone who is available to be with him all the time and give him loving all day. I have to work and leave the country a lot so I am sadly not that person. I hope he finds the most loving home. Oh gosh I’m crying now. I cuddle him every night. He is such a sweet baby. It hurts my heart!

Story
Sirichai is a handsome Lynx Point Mix (Siamese/Tabby) He has beautiful shades of grey and fawn and blue eyes. Sirichai joined the Chance at Life family on September 1, 2020, when another rescue group asked if we could take him in. They had a trapping project they were working on and Sirichai was part of the colony. They did not think he belonged there and did not want to put him back but did not have room to take him in. Sirichai was a work in progress. He was obviously homeless for a little while and it took time to earn his trust. He was adopted out in 2023 but returned in 2024 as the person did not feel he was the right fit or have the time to work with him. He is a quiet, gentle soul, but shy. He loves to be brushed, especially around the head. He is food motivated and will come when called if expecting a treat. Churru are his favorite and he will lick it off your finger. He prefers enclosed beds, but will also use open. Plays with string toys, but is a feather eater. Sirichai lives with other cats and may do well in a home with another cat providing proper introductions are done. An adult home with no young children would be best for him. Up to date on vaccinations, neutered and FIV positive, FeLV negative. Approximate DOB 09/01/2018 You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt. If you live in a parent or guardian's home, they must complete the application. An application does not guarantee an adoption. Our cats and kittens are not adopted on a first come, first served basis, but whom we feel would be the best fit for our cats and kittens. If interested, please e-mail us at Chanceatliferescue@gmail.com or download an application from our website http://www.chanceatlifecatrescue.com/. FIV infects only cats. It is not contagious to people. It is found in 1.5% to 3% of all U.S. cats. The most important fact to remember is that it should not be a death sentence for the cats with the virus. FIV strains in cats can live normal lives and may never cause the disease. FIV positive cats can live with FIV negative kitties assuming that there is no aggression. FIV is NOT transmitted casually and is spread through deep bite wounds. You cannot transmit it via sharing of litter boxes, grooming or sharing of bowls. It is not transmittable to dogs, children, adults or any species other than felines. With love and good care, many FIV+ cats can live normal lifespans. These days, it's not unusual to find FIV+ cats reaching 15 years or more.

Story
Yara is a beautiful Lynx Point Mix (Siamese/Tabby). She has beautiful shades of cream & grey with blue eyes. She joined the Chance at Life family on September 21, 2023, from a municipal shelter. She originally came from a hoarding situation in Westwood, NJ. Yara has been a work in progress, she is very shy. She needs someone who can routinely dedicate time to spend with her one on one, whether that is a foster home or furever home. She will sniff your finger but is not a fan of being touched (although once in a while you can). Yara does not like treats but likes catnip! She plays by herself and prefers string toys. Yara lives with other cats and may do well in a home with another cat providing proper introductions are done. An adult home with no young children would be best for her. Approximate DOB 09/09/2020 Up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt.
