Story
n the last couple months we have seen an increase of FeLV+cats. This is from 2 separate home on different sides of Elkhorn and then a home in Whitewater. What is FeLV? The technical name is Feline Leukemia Virus. Like FIV it can weaken the cat's immune system and shorten their life. Is FeLV contagious to other cats? Yes it is! It's easily transmissible between cats by saliva - grooming each other, sharing the same dishes. Cats that are positive are looking for a home with no other felines. They are able to live with other animals such as dogs. **There's a vaccine that may help the current cat in the home but you would need to reach out to your veterinary to discuss this.Best placement for FeLV kitties? ·Someone able to keep the cat indoors only·Taken to regular checkups - maybe even more than normalHow long can they live? Cats can live anywhere between 2-5 years, maybe even longer. It's not something the shelter sees often. Strangely we see more FIV cats enter our shelter. Currently with have babies that are 2 months old up to adults. If you are willing to open your heart and home to these very special babies, please reach out! These kitties deserve a chance at a home just like anyone else.Adoption Information ~·Age appropriate vaccines ·FeLV+·Fecal exam ·Microchipped ·Neutered/Spayed·Only FeLV+ cat homeAdoption fee ~ Name Your OwnYou can Apply below ??https://lakelandanimalshelter.org/adopt/adoption-profile-online-form/cat-adoption-form/*Cat rooms at Lakeland are open to the public during the time of open hours of Monday-Friday 12p-5p, Saturday 11a-4p but Delavan PetSmart is by appointment. Story
Paula Birthday: September 16th, 2023 Sex: Spayed Female  Breed: Domestic Shorthair Traits: Good with adults that have experience with cats, unknown with dogs Fee: $150 . She comes vet checked, spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed! About Me : Paula was found living under a friend of the rescues 4 seasons room. Once we caught her, we quickly realized she was definitely someone's pet at some point as she was very friendly towards other people. No owners ever came forward around that area. Paula is very nice 95% of the time, but sometimes if you over stimulate her she will turn around and nip. We think that someone had her and did not like this about her and put her outside. She was very skinny outside and wasn't doing well and she really does enjoy people, but she is a princess and you gotta follow her rules.  She does not like other cats so far while in our care. Paula is very food motivated and treats and food will make her your best friend. We have had 2 vets look at her and one said she is 1 year old, and the other vet said she was under a year old. We understand she is a pretty cat, but she is going to need a very special and understanding home. We want to make sure wherever she goes will follow her rules so this doesn't happen again to her. She will need to go to a home without children or other cats. Probably not dogs either, but we have not had any dogs around Paula yet. Once an application is approved, we will require a meet and greet with her to ensure it is going to be a good fit.  If you are interested in adopting, scan the QR code or visit linktr.ee/guttercatadoptions to find our application. You can also email guttercatadoptions@gmail.com with any questions. An online application must be filled out to be considered.   July 15, 2024, 7:57 pm

Story
BEEJA is a GRAY MACKEREL TABBY SIAMESE/DSH Mix with green eyes. He is 4 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped. This strapping boy weighs almost 16 lbs. Beeja came into our rescue when his owners could no longer take care of him. Beeja was originally fostered by SPCR when he was a kitten, so we know that his momma was a Lynx Point Siamese, but his papa’s breed was unknown - it doesn’t matter, since he is a very handsome cat. His original foster parents did a wonderful job socializing this boy. He is a loving, friendly and confident boy who enjoys being around people. Despite being a big boy, he is gentle and just awesome as far as his foster mom is concerned. Beeja’s name means happy, and his foster mom understands why he was given this name, because he truly is a happy boy. When he sees his foster mom, he usually runs over to greet her, then he flops on the floor, rolls around a few times, and then invites her to give him some much appreciated pets all over his body, including his belly. Air biscuits are included in this ritual and adorable to witness. If you have a bad day, Beeja knows how to make that go away. His foster mom is especially intrigued by Beeja’s expressive and long tail that curls around his back. He currently doesn’t appear to be too much of a play monster, just more chill and calm. He does play a little with wand toys when his foster mom swirls those around in the air for him to catch. He loves to munch on dry catnip and he can be a little chatty, especially when he makes it clear that food needs to be served - pronto. At one point in his life Beeja developed asthma. He is on a very low dose of Prednisolone which he gets every second or third day. The ½ tablet gets crushed and is sprinkled on his wet food, which he gobbles up without any issues. The medication is inexpensive and according to our vet very well tolerated by cats. Because of this diagnosis, he is listed as Special Needs. Beeja has lived with another cat before and he has met his foster parent’s cats. He is respectful with other cats, so with proper and slow introductions, he should do well with a cat that wouldn't be intimidated by this big boy. He would also do well as a single cat in a loving home. Beeja grew up with a baby, now a toddler and was very tolerant of the child. His foster parents don’t have any dogs, but assume a chill and cat friendly dog would be okay. Beeja is currently only eating wet food which he loves and it is healthier for him because it provides proper hydration for his urinary tract. Therefore, we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it. He is using his litter box perfectly. ADOPTION FEE $150. FOSTERED IN MEQUON, WI.
