ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Taz! Taz is a 53 pound, 6-7 year-old Staffordshire- English Bulldog mix. She is the sweetest girl who wants nothing more than to always be by her person’s side. She wakes up happy and excited to start the day with a morning walk. Taz walks well on a leash and is a good eater. She absolutely loves to play fetch, and loves playing in the water. She is very smart and already knows "sit" and "down" with "shake" on the way. She is house trained but will need some time to acclimate to her new surroundings. Taz loves backyard gatherings and will be the life of the party, she loves socializing with others. She would love to sleep in the bed with you, and in turn will snuggle you all night. She currently lives with another big dog and gets along fine. Taz does require a little "getting to know you period", and can be reactive if new people move in too quickly with her,  so we don't recommend she go to a home with small children. Can you give this amazing girl the great home she deserves? Taz is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date with her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  May 4, 2024, 12:46 am

Story
My wife and I found a stray pitbull (Bear) roaming our neighborhood in 2020 so we decided to foster him until we could find him a suitable home. At the time of the foster he was only eight months old and clearly neglected, so we decided to have him neutered, vaccinated, and poured tons of love and resources into him in effort to give him an opportunity at a real life. Sadly, nobody has wanted to take him on full-time. Fast forward 3 years and he’s recently started to attack and bite our female Shepard multiple times to the point where she needed stitches. Additionally, he’s become very aggressive around food and will attack other dogs within the same vicinity of food. We just can’t trust him being around our dog or other dogs anymore. He’s fantastic around people and even small children, and we have no issues trusting him around all of our friends and family. He’s a huge snuggler and very sweet around people and all he wants is love. He’s a great dog for the right environment.

Story
Trixie was rescued by one of our advocates who told us the following story. Trixie was purchased as a 6 weel old puppy from a breeder in mexico for a large sum of money. The new owner loved her until she started growing. As she grew it became apparent her front leg was deformed. At that point he told our advocate that she is not what he paid for and he was going to throw her on the street. Thankfully our advocate intervened! Trixie is very playful and loving! She has excellent mobility despite her front paw being deformed. She loves lounging in the sun and getting lots of treats!

Story
Meet Negra, a resilient and loving canine companion who has overcome the trials of life on the streets of Tijuana for the past 6 to 7 years. Despite her challenging past as a "puppy machine," Negra exudes an incredible sweetness and friendliness that knows no bounds. No stranger to human affection, she greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and a heart full of love. Negrita, weighing in at a sturdy 73 pounds, is a powerhouse of energy and enthusiasm. When it's playtime, she approaches with the force of a Mack truck, ready to engage with boundless energy and joy. While Negrita adores human companionship, she may thrive best in a single-dog household or alongside a canine companion of similar size. Although she's eager to make friends, she'll need patient guidance and socialization to learn how to interact with other dogs her size. With her puppy, she enjoys playful romps in the yard and exhilarating zoomies around the plants. Despite her size, Negrita's heart is full of love.
