Meet Charlie! This big sweetheart is an affectionate, loyal and playful lover boy. He's the perfect companion for those seeking a best furry friend with a whole lot of love to give. Not only is Charlie intelligent and easy to train, he's also a fast learner who's always eager to make his human proud. He would love to be the center of attention but will also live with another dog. If you're interested in adding this adorable pooch to your family, please come meet Charlie today – you won't be able to resist his charms! We promise that he will steal your heart with his sweet and happy nature. If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!  Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard.  Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday!March 7, 2026, 7:09 pm

Story
this is Minnie. she’s approximately 2 years old and about 35 lbs. she is very affectionate and cuddly, she loves laying on the couch and being pet. she can get along well with other dogs but does not like female dogs close in size to her. she does best with large male dogs. she was a stray in houston. i am unable to keep her do to her not getting along with my female doberman mix. she chases cats and may not be cat friendly. she is high energy but loves to lay around and be lazy. she enjoys chew toys and soft blankets.

Story
Who's all for breaking stereotypes? Buster sure is! He may be a black pittie, but he is just about the most gentle dog ever! His owners even gave him the nickname "Uncle Buster" because of how well he does with cats, kittens, puppies, and small dogs! Truly, he'll let them climb all over him and tug at his ears and tail without so much as raising his lip. Buster comes from a home with both cats (who he absolutely adores!) and small dog siblings. Buster has a hidden talent: in addition to being bilingual, he also loves to go for walks with his skateboarding human and will gladly give you lift down the sidewalk! In true pittie fashion, he is also a sun-bathing couch potato. He loves going in the car and rides nicely as a passenger prince. Buster comes with six years of life experience - he is potty-trained, fully house-broken, and knows his basic commands and manners. Buster is bilingual (he speaks both Spanish and English) and has just about the sleekest and shiniest black coat you ever did see. Don't miss out on this best boy; call us to meet "Uncle Buster" today!

Story
How stinkin’ cute is this baby?! Meet Moo Deng — yes, named after the famous little pygmy hippopotamus, and honestly… the name fits her perfectly.  This squatty little girl is packed full of personality and charm. Moo Deng was found as a stray, but it’s obvious someone cared for her at some point. She’s a thick queen with beautiful skin, she’s heartworm negative, and she absolutely adores everyone she meets. During our shelter pull she met what felt like every dog there and did amazing with all of them! Moo Deng may be short and low to the ground, but don’t let that fool you — she’s got some muscle on her too! She's about 60lbs of love and 3-4 years old. Her dream life? Being your professional couch potato, curled up beside you for movie nights and snacks. She’s the kind of dog that keeps you laughing without even trying. Right now Moo Deng is in boarding recovering from a little shelter crud, but she should be ready for a foster home very soon. We would LOVE to get this sweet girl into a home environment where she can relax, decompress, and show off her goofy personality. Please consider applying to foster Moo Deng at www.scoutshonor.org— we promise this little hippo girl will steal your heart. June 8, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
If you would like more information about Kasey or are interested in adopting her, please send an email to brittany.anne.0723@gmail.com We adopted Kasey from a shelter to save her from the kill list. She was set to be euthanized the following day. We were not informed of her skin condition at the time of adoption, but we were doing our best to work through it. (Kasey has a skin allergy condition requiring Cytopoint or Apoquel injections). But then we found out our youngest daughter, one year old, is allergic to her dander and has had to be on allergy medicine multiple times a day. Kasey is so sweet and loving, super protective of both my children, ages 1 and 11. She loves to cuddle and sleep with her head in your lap.
