Story
I got him from the shelter about 2 years ago. So he's probably around 5 years old. He's an extremely happy and energetic. He has a very aggressive bark but don't let it fool you because he loves people. He's extremely good with small dogs but not too sure with large dogs. Ive seen him do good with some but he also got into a fight with my parents lab but they were separated. The only cautions I have for Tank is that he has a deformity in his front left paw and a testicle that stayed close to his stomach. Vet said neither one is a concern but he may develop arthritis when he gets into older age. I'm hoping to find him a home that has the time and energy to keep him happy

Story
Poor Snickerdoodle just can't get a break she came to GCTPR 3 years ago as a small puppy covered on ant bites. She got well and became a well behaved trained puppy and loved walking with her 4 yr old human foster. Snickerdoodle was adopted. In January of this year she was dumped at a local shelter by a member of her family that claimed she was a lost dog they found. She is a very high energy dog. She is relearning her training with a trainer and needs a firm but gentle adopter that will continue her training, she tends to want to herd smaller dogs. She would make a great running companion for a runner or a good working dog on a farm or ranch as long as there are no cats, chickens or small dogs she has access to. Due to her tendency to try and herd smaller dogs it is not recommended that there be smaller dogs in household. Snickerdoodle is a Staffordshire terrier mix. DNA was done it came back as 62.5% American Staffordshire Terrier, 12.5% boxer, 12.5 Labrador Retriever, 12.5% herding breeds. Loves walking and being petted.

Story
April 2025: Hershey is still great and available! Wonderful, friendly Staffordshire Terrier mix available with everything you need to give him a comfortable home. Hershey is about 6 and a very friendly and loving dog who can be energetic when you want him to be, but happy to lounge around the house most of the day. This handsome boy gets along great with everything from pekingese to great danes. Not good with cats, just can't keep his nose out of their business. Great with kids and loves to follow them around. House trained. Doesn't dig or chew items left on ground that aren't his toys. Only barks at door knocks/bell. Is afraid of rain/thunder and will hide. Loves long walks but just wants to be near you. Will snuggle and sleep with you. I've developed a health condition that keeps me from giving him a good home, so really care that he finds a great new one.

Story
Hazel is a super sweet and loving dog. She’s all about snuggling and cuddles! She’s also great with our baby. In one of the pictures, we took when we first brought our baby home, she moved her blanket to sleep next to the bassinet. We found Hazel a couple of years ago, and she was really shy at first. But now she loves to play with toys! We’re looking for a home where she can have as many toys as she wants and as many snuggles and cuddles as she needs.

Story
If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit with my foster home! Name: Ivy Sex: Female Color/Pattern: White with gray ears, fawn face markings Breed: Small bully mix Weight: 40 pounds Age at intake: Approximately 1 year 6 months BDAY approx: 4/7/2022 Found date: 4/7/2023 Intake date: 10/5/2023 Coat length: Short Description: Ivy is a super sweet and energetic young pitbull mix. Everyone she meets is a new friend! Personality: Ivy is such a sweetheart. She loves to cuddle, give hugs, and be close to her people. She is very energetic and loves playing fetch and tug, but running around outside with her doggie friends is her absolute favorite activity. She loves everyone she meets, and she's just happy to be included. Due to her high energy level, she would do best in an active household or a home with a large fenced-in yard. She is young and still working on leash and crate manners, but she's a quick learner and eager to please. Background: Ivy was dumped in the parking lot of a vet clinic, and one of the staff there took her in as a foster. When she was found, she was underweight; covered in fleas, cuts, and scrapes; and was heartworm positive. Lucky for her, the vet clinic got her all fixed up! She was cleaned up, spayed, provided with fast kill heartworm treatment. Now she is officially heartworm free and ready for her forever home! Compatibility Dogs - yes Cats - unknown Kids - older kids - yes; younger kids/babies - her energy level might be too high

Story
Meet Maya! Sweet Maya has already endured more loss than most. After her beloved owner tragically passed away in a car accident, no one came forward to care for her. A kind-hearted foster took her in, but due to a battle with cancer, Maya once again found herself needing a safe place—and that’s how she came to us. Despite all she’s been through, Maya is the definition of resilience. She’s calm, easygoing, and deeply loving. She adores human companionship, gets along well with other dogs, and brings a peaceful presence wherever she goes. She’s crate and leash trained, fully vetted, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Maya doesn’t ask for much—just a quiet, loving home where she can finally feel safe and cherished again. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion with a heart full of love, Maya is ready and waiting for you. Our adoption fee includes transport, all age required shots, microchip, & a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. We look forward to receiving your application! We will review it shortly and give you a call to set up a phone interview.  We are thrilled to offer transport services every 3 weeks from Houston to the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest, and the East Coast, ensuring that these incredible pets can find their way to you no matter where you are. This makes the adoption process smooth and convenient, allowing you to focus on welcoming your new family member with open arms. Why should you adopt from a Texas Rescue? Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future away from a city that has an animal crisis. We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wandering our streets. So often are these animals dumped, abandoned, or born on the streets and never find a home to call their own. We are giving them the chance that every animal deserves. We know that since you are looking to add a furry family member to your home here, you will provide the love, care, and attention they need to thrive. Thank you for considering adopting and not shopping.
