Story
April 2024: Hershey is still great and available! Wonderful, friendly Staffordshire Terrier mix available with everything you need to give him a comfortable home. Hershey is about 6 and a very friendly and loving dog who can be energetic when you want him to be, but happy to lounge around the house most of the day. This handsome boy gets along great with everything from pekingese to great danes. Not good with cats, just can't keep his nose out of their business. Great with kids and loves to follow them around. House trained. Doesn't dig or chew items left on ground that aren't his toys. Only barks at door knocks/bell. Is afraid of rain/thunder and will hide. Loves long walks but just wants to be near you. Will snuggle and sleep with you. I've developed a health condition that keeps me from giving him a good home, so really care that he finds a great new one.

Story
Poor Snickerdoodle just can't get a break she came to GCTPR 3 years ago as a small puppy covered on ant bites. She got well and became a well behaved trained puppy and loved walking with her 4 yr old human foster. Snickerdoodle was adopted. In January of this year she was dumped at a local shelter by a member of her family that claimed she was a lost dog they found. She is a very high energy dog. She is relearning her training with a trainer and needs a firm but gentle adopter that will continue her training, she tends to want to herd smaller dogs. She would make a great running companion for a runner or a good working dog on a farm or ranch as long as there are no cats, chickens or small dogs she has access to. Due to her tendency to try and herd smaller dogs it is not recommended that there be smaller dogs in household. Snickerdoodle is a Staffordshire terrier mix. DNA was done it came back as 62.5% American Staffordshire Terrier, 12.5% boxer, 12.5 Labrador Retriever, 12.5% herding breeds. Loves walking and being petted.

Story
If you would like more information about Oliver or are interested in adopting him, please send an email to smitch1170@aol.com Oliver was wandering the streets in Houston while freezing. We took him in and could not find his owner. I can only take him temporarily as no pets are allowed in my rental. Oliver is SOOO sweet; he just wants love and attention. He is mostly potty trained and learning other things as well. He is in the process of attending training classes. He does pretty good on a leash. He listens and seems very smart and willing to learn. Oliver wants to please people. I’ve snuggled with him on the couch and the bed, and he just loves that. Oliver would make a wonderful family pet with people who can continue his training and give him the attention he needs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. No Apartments, Mobile Homes. Must have a fenced yard.I am Boomer!   My foster brother says I am a 'Chic Magnet'!   He takes me with him when ever he goes out with his friends.    I am very social and love everyone. I am a fun loving, talkative guy who loves my family. I especially love my 2 legged brother who talks back to me all the time.  We just received my DNA results and man are they crazy! I don't look like any of these and certainly am not as big as any of these breeds.   I know commands like come, down, sit, and I know when mom says 'time for bed', that means I run to my crate and she gives me a tasty treat. Mom doesn't like nasty puppy kisses, so she taught me to give hugs. That means I put my face next to her and she squeezes me for a hug. I am a really good boy and will be a fun guy for your family I love my foster brother David (he is really tall and stands on 2 feet - Weird! But I love to talk to him when he comes home from work, or when we wake up in the morning. We have some really great conversations.    I am a fun loving guy and would love to have a family of my own. I am ready for my forever family so apply to adopt me!   =========================================================       Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application .       Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations.       Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
