Meet Asher! Asher is a beautiful five year old, 54 lb, cream colored Standard Poodle who until now has only known the lonely life of a puppy mill. You would never know this because of how loving he is. Early on in his fostering, he would slowly collect all the dog toys and drop them gently in the dog and cat beds. He also added bones and a small dog dish as if to say, “I find these things special”. Asher gets along well with his foster siblings (including happy greetings through the fence with the dog next door). He loves being near his people and would probably do well with owners who are not gone a lot. He travels well in the car with no motion sickness. He loves to wander the yard so a fenced area would be ideal. Running out in the morning to chase the squirrels away from the bird feeder has become his new anticipatory fun. He has also had a few fun runs in the back yard, but is usually very calm. He loves to lay in your lap, beside you, at your feet, or even curl up on your chest. He would do well as an adored dog of one, or part of a pack. He is highly intelligent, potty trained, loving, and waiting for the perfect home. Asher is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00. Unfortunately, we just can’t keep our girl Bailey anymore. She’s such a sweet dog, but we’ve had her outside, and she just would be a much better inside dog. Her hair is impossible to keep nice when she’s living outside, and she deserves a good home with a family that can provide a better environment for her. She’s 8 years old. She’s great with kids, and great with other dogs as well. She hasn’t really been around cats. She isn’t house trained because she has lived outside her whole life. She does tend to be a She does tend to be an anxious dog, she’s been like that ever since we bought her as a puppy. New people and unfamiliar situations can make her nervous, and she's definitely not a fan of having a camera pointed in her direction! But give this sweet girl some time to feel comfortable, and you'll discover a completely different side of her.We recently witnessed a wonderful example of just how affectionate Delilah can be. While she was keeping her distance from unfamiliar visitors, a volunteer she knew and trusted entered the play yard. What a transformation! Delilah immediately hurried over to greet him, leaning into his affection, showering him with love, and even putting her paws up on his shoulders for some extra cuddles! It was a beautiful glimpse of the loving, devoted companion hiding beneath that initially shy exterior.Delilah came to us with Dolly, who we believe may be her sister. The two girls enjoy being together, and Delilah does seem to look to her more confident companion for comfort and reassurance when she's feeling uncertain. While we'd love to see them adopted together, it's not a requirement. We do think Delilah would benefit from having another friendly, confident dog in her new home, whether that's Dolly or a new canine companion.Delilah is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the time and reassurance she needs to settle in and build trust. Once you've earned her confidence, you may just find yourself with a 64-pound cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be close to you!Delilah may take a little longer to give you her heart, but we think she'll be well worth the wait.
