Story
Meet Artie ❤️If you’re looking for a best friend who’s equal parts goofy, loving, adventurous, and adorable — Artie may just be your perfect match.Artie came to DeKalb Humane Society from the amazing team at Shadarobah, who worked incredibly hard to help this sweet boy and give him the fresh start he deserves. He was transferred to us in hopes of getting more eyes on him and helping him finally find his forever family. And honestly? We can’t believe this handsome guy is still waiting. This wire-haired mixed breed boy has the sweetest soul and a personality that shines the moment you meet him. Artie absolutely adores people, does wonderful with kids, and is always ready to make new friends. Whether he’s running zoomies through the yard, rolling dramatically in the dirt like it’s his full-time job, or soaking up attention from his humans, Artie lives life with pure joy. He’s the kind of dog who reminds you to enjoy the little things — sunshine, fresh air, muddy paws, and a good belly rub.Artie would thrive with a family who enjoys the outdoors as much as he does. He loves being outside exploring, playing, and stretching his legs before coming inside to relax with his people. And while he may come home a little dusty from his adventures, that scruffy coat is part of his charm. Because of his unique wire-haired coat, Artie will need regular grooming or a family willing to keep up with his coat care to keep him comfortable and looking handsome. If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a goofy personality, a loving heart, and the cutest scruffy face around, Artie is waiting to meet you. ❤️An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Little Apollo came to FDHS as a stray alongside his bestie Artemis. He’s estimated to be around 6 years old and we are guessing him to be a Poodle mix with a whole lot of personality packed into a very small frame.Apollo might be a little guy, but he fully believes he is “large and in charge.” He’s got big feelings, a little bit of sass, and absolutely no awareness of how small he actually is. He carries himself like he runs the place, even if he could be mistaken for a well-loved stuffed animal.Once he’s comfortable, Apollo is social and engaging, with a confident streak that comes out more and more as he settles in. New people and situations can take him a moment to warm up to, but he adjusts with time and consistency. He does well on leash and enjoys getting out for strolls at his own pace. He would prefer a low-traffic, calm home with a cozy spot where he can keep an eye on everything.Apollo would love to be adopted with Artemis, since they came in together and definitely seem to bring each other comfort. However, he could also do well on his own as long as he has a patient home that understands his spicy little “boss dog” personality.**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 15 lbs**

This little floof is Artemis!Artemis came to FDHS as a stray with her best friend Apollo (also available!). We’re estimating she’s around 6 years old and she looks like some kind of Poodle mix. She’s a small girl with big feelings and an even bigger voice to go with them. Artemis can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up with patience and once she’s comfortable, her sweet side really starts to come through. She walks nicely on leash and enjoys getting out and adventuring. At the end of the day, she’s happiest curled up in her dog bed, settled in and relaxed.Artemis would really love to be adopted with Apollo, since they came in together and clearly have a great friendship going. That said, she could also do well in a home on her own as long as she has a patient person willing to give her time to adjust.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 12 lbs**

I am rehoming my 5 year old Golden Doodle. I had to move and with my current living situation I sadly can’t have here any more. She is a very sweet girl who deserves a loving home! She loves to play and is energetic but calms down as well
