Story
Thor here! It's so nice to meet you! Although I really love meeting any one no matter who you are. I've never met someone I didn't want to shower in kisses immediately. I'm a young, exuberant fella with a gentle, joyful disposition. My favorite things are car rides, playing with toys, and cuddling. I make dog friends easily and have lived with a cat for most of my life. I don't love small children who hold me weird, pull at me, or taunt me with food, so I'd rather just be around kids who are used to being respectful of dogs. I can get really excited and jumpy which, is another reason why very small children aren't the best housemates for me. I'm very smart but have yet to learn a ton outside of basic skills. It doesn't take long for me to catch on to new words and routines with a little guidance. I have no health issues or food sensitivities, so training with treats is very easy. Like most curly haired fellas, I need regular grooming maintenance to keep my fur gorgeous and free of mats. The groomer says I'm a breeze to care for, and I don't mind being brushed at home. I do have a lot of energy, which means my future family should be up for lots of play time, walks, and adventures to keep me feeling good. Wanna get out of town? No problem! I ride in the car so peacefully you won't even know I'm there. I've even been on plane rides before! When I'm in a new space, it's hard for me to be alone for long periods of time. I might cry at the door for you until I feel safe enough to relax. It might be nice to have someone home a lot at first, though I'm fully potty trained and can hang out inside for hours at a time eventually. The calm will come with time, consistency, and maybe a little maturity. I'm fully vaccinated, neutered, and ready to come home whenever you are. I'm in a foster home, so please fill out an application at animalaidpdx.org to meet me. Est. DOB: 4/5/25 Weight: 17lb

Story
Arlo does not simply walk into a room, he brings the sunshine in with him. Between his gorgeous curly coat, happy-go-lucky personality, and ability to make friends everywhere he goes, this boy is pure joy on four legs. He is sweet, silly, affectionate, and completely full of life. Arlo is the kind of dog who makes ordinary days feel a little more fun just by being part of them. Watch Arlo's video and fall in love with this walking ray of sunshine: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZ8aomDv5bKyoElr66EBc7A Arlo is approximately 3 years old, weighs 55 lbs, and is believed to be a standard Poodle mix. Arlo is very dog friendly and has done great with every dog we have introduced him to. He happily greets new friends, joins them for a game of chase, and then knows when it is time to take a break. He is such a social butterfly that we could even see him enjoying doggy daycare or trips to the dog park. Arlo would do well with a medium-energy dog who enjoys playing but can also settle down afterward. Because he is a big boy with an enthusiastic play style, any dog friends in her future home should be at least 30 lbs. Smaller pups may find his excitement a little overwhelming. This smart cookie already knows how to sit and shake, especially when treats are involved. (does he know anything)?? He loves toys, loves snacks, and loves being included in whatever his people are doing. With his intelligence, eagerness, and social personality, he will have so much fun continuing to learn new things with his future family. Arlo’s ideal home would be with a semi-active family and a backyard where he can run, stretch those long legs, play with toys, and find the perfect sunny spot for an afternoon nap. Picture weekend hikes with Arlo happily trotting beside you, patio lunches where he charms everyone he meets, and trips around town with his fluffy head poking out of the car window. After a day of adventures, he will be just as happy coming home, settling in with his people, and soaking up all the affection he can get. Arlo is beautiful on the outside, but his joyful personality is what will truly make you fall in love. He is ready to bring laughter, adventure, affection, and an endless supply of sunshine into his forever home. We are willing to test Arlo with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Russell Scruff has the kind of sweet, scruffy face that makes you want to scoop him up and tell him everything is going to be okay. With his tousled fur, gentle eyes, and quiet little personality, he has a way of pulling at your heart without even trying. He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but watching him gather the courage to take tiny baby steps toward you for affection makes earning his trust feel incredibly special. Once he gets close enough for those first ear scratches, you’ll quickly see just how sweet this little guy truly is. Watch his video and fall in love with his adorable scruffy face: https://youtu.be/f5cHeD_tXcc?si=TTXwRmUf6qpl7r-9 Russell is approximately 1 year old and currently weighs around 20 pounds. We believe he may be a Terrier mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. Whatever his DNA may be, it certainly gave him an irresistible face and the perfect compact size! Russell is dog friendly and is currently being fostered in a home with other dogs, including dogs much bigger than he is. His foster has shared that everyone gets along great together. Having friendly canine companions around may even help Russell feel more comfortable as he settles into a new environment. Personality-wise, Russell is calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet. He is a sensitive little guy who needs a bit of time to warm up, but he wants affection and will slowly work up the courage to ask for it. He’ll take a few careful baby steps toward you, pause to make sure everything is safe, and then inch a little closer until he is finally within ear-scratching distance. It is such a tender, endearing way of asking for love, and once you see it, you’ll want to give him all the scratches he could ever ask for. Russell is crate trained, and his foster has shared that he sleeps through the night in his crate. From what we have seen so far, he also seems to understand where the appropriate place to go potty is. As with any rescue dog entering a new home and routine, he may need a little patience and consistency while he adjusts. Russell would love a calm, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace and learn that he is safe and loved. Give him a little time, plenty of gentle encouragement, and unlimited ear scratches, and this sweet scruffy boy will reward you with a truly special kind of love. We are willing to test Russell with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!   You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!    The adoption fee is $1,600 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!    We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.    Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Story
Meet Taffy Sue Stuck On You! Taffy is a sweet, confident girl who is happy in her own company and always keeps an eye on her people. She likes to take things at her own pace, and once she feels settled in, she shows her sweetest side as a companion who is truly excited to see you. Her independence is part of her charm, and it makes her affection feel even more special. Taffy can be a little shy with new dogs, but she does well once she has time to get comfortable. In her foster home, she lives with a pack of dogs and holds her own, and she does best with calmer, more introverted dogs. But she’s just as content doing her own thing. Her idea of a perfect afternoon is roaming around the yard on her own, stopping to smell the roses, and taking it all in at her own pace. Taffy also loves to be treated like a princess. Give her a perched bed with a good view, and she’ll make sure your kingdom is well taken care of, keeping a watchful, regal eye on everything from her throne. Taffy doesn’t seem interested in long, strenuous walks, but she may be just as happy to spend a day at the beach, roaming around and exploring at her own pace. She’s more of a stroller than a marathoner, and she’d love a family who enjoys easygoing outings and lets her set the speed. A home with a yard where she can wander and sniff would be a great fit, along with a family who appreciates a confident, independent girl and respects her need for a little space. A calm, easygoing companion dog could be a good match, though she’s just as happy to reign as the one and only queen. Slow, gentle introductions to any new dog are recommended. Taffy is looking for a home with plenty of love, a comfy perch, and room to roam. Could that be you?
