Story
This little man is approx. 3-4 years old of pure cuteness. Tippy came to us via a woman in Mississippi who could not keep him - we don't know exactly why and can't figure it out because his foster mom said he is literally perfect. He's getting along with all the other dogs in the foster home (and there are many). He is working on housetraining, but crating has not been an issue, and he's learning quickly. He's fantastic in the car - loves to just stare out the window. He has a little "wobble" in his gait, which we had a veterinarian check out with exam and X-rays - there is no evidence of any bony or physical deformity that would cause it.Tippy is heading to New England on 4-10 and will be fostered in Massachusetts after arrival. We will update more as we learn more about this little man.Name: TippyBreed: Poodle/Shih Tzu   (Breed mx is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 4 years  (estimated)Weight: 14 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  Texas  Arkansas  New England, MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Mom is a German Shepherd mix; we suspect Dad may be the friendly neighborhood Golden Doodle Mama will remain behind for now while we work on safely transitioning her indoors and getting her spayed. What to expect (they are puppies!):🐾 Playful, curious, and full of energy🐾 Still learning manners (jumping, mouthing, stealing socks)🐾 Not fully house trained or crate trained yet🐾 Will need structure, consistency, and training🐾 Smart, social, and at a prime age for learningThey’re at that perfect in-between stage—past tiny baby, but still very much a work in progress. With time, patience, and a little humor, they’re going to grow into incredible companions. The puppies are expected to be in the 50-60 lb range as adults (no guarantees).More info coming soon!Breed: Poodle/Shepherd   (Breed Mix is not guaranteed - no DNA testing has been done)Age: 13 weeks (approx) as of 4/6Weight: 20 as of 4/6. We can provide adopters with a list of low-cost SN clinics when requested. ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for your benefit and your puppy's, so if you experience behavioral issues, you have a point of contact.  PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Story
James was adopted into a home with other dogs but is having difficulty with sharing the home. His adopter has made the difficult decision to rehome James. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Doberman/Akita. He is neutered and was just seen at the vet for a check up. When asked to describe James, we were told he is loving, playful and quick to learn. If you are looking to add an easy companion who prefers the company of people over other animals, send us an email at support@almosthomeri.org We are asking a donation be made to the rescue in lieu of our standard adoption fee.
