Story
James was adopted into a home with other dogs but is having difficulty with sharing the home. His adopter has made the difficult decision to rehome James. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Doberman/Akita. He is neutered and was just seen at the vet for a check up. When asked to describe James, we were told he is loving, playful and quick to learn. If you are looking to add an easy companion who prefers the company of people over other animals, send us an email at support@almosthomeri.org We are asking a donation be made to the rescue in lieu of our standard adoption fee.

Story
Meet Clancy is you want a walking buddy look no further. Clancy does not need doggie day care or a fenced yard he just needs you to walk him as many times a day as you want. He would walk to New England to find his forever family if we let him. He see's his leash and he is ready to GO. He was brought to the shelter because his gorgeous coat requires upkeep. His previous owners couldn't keep up with his grooming needs. To stay handsome and tangle-free, he will need regular visits to the groomer. He is currently crate trained and loves a big crate with lots of space to hang out. He is fostered with other dogs of different ages and sized and he has had no issues. He does not seem to need a dog around as long as he has his person. He has not lived with children that we know of so we would suggest children over 7. He is also not cat tested. Clancy is very loving and after the long walks he will curl up with you and be your best friend. So please put your walking shoes on and let Clancy lead the way to all kinds of fun adventures.Name: ClancyBreed: Poodle/Pom  (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 2 years 1 month (estimated as of 7/11/26)Weight: 12 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 7Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    Tennessee IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Lucca Local  is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Lucca is a handsome 1.5-year-old, 65 lb Standard Poodle looking for a patient, experienced home. Like many poodles, he's incredibly smart, loyal, and forms deep bonds with his people. But Lucca missed out on important socialization as a puppy, so the world can feel like a scary place. He needs a securely fenced yard, another confident dog in the home, and an adopter with experience managing fearful, flight-risk dogs. Lucca enjoys spending time outside, quietly exploring the yard, and once he trusts you, he'll seek you out for affection and companionship. This is not a dog who will be ready to take walks around the neighborhood on day one. He needs someone who understands that trust is earned through patience, consistency, and kindness. If you're ready to show Lucca that love takes time and that he's finally safe, you'll gain a devoted companion.    ***due to clinic delays this pup will be available for adoption with the collection of an additional $100.00 spay/neuter voucher  deposit *** If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Meet Max!Max is everything poodle. He's smart. He's high energy. He's a social butterfly. When you think of a poodle, Max is the poster child. Max is about ten months old so, not only does he have the high energy of a poodle, but he has the high energy of a puppy as well. He's about 65lbs right now and shouldn't be getting much bigger - maybe another five to ten pounds. One thing about Max? He LOVES other dogs. He loves other dogs more than life itself. He loves other dogs so much that he just doesn't know how to handle it and his enthusiasm turns him into a tornado. He can be overbearing - he wants to jump on other dogs, wants to throw his weight around and play slap them, and wants to be an overall menace. He would not pair well with an older dog, a smaller dog, or a dog that is easily spooked/protective of their boundaries. He is probably too much for most cats as well. Kids 12+ though exceptions may be made for the right family with experience.Max also has a bit of separation anxiety. He gets very whiny and uncertain when left alone - this may dissipate as he settles in, or with crate training, but he may do best with a family that works from home or a couple who works opposite schedules. He LIVES to be with people - he thrives on attention and affection. He's VERY playful and will bring his toys to you to let you know he wants to play...which is almost always. We, obviously, cannot guarantee that he is purebred or that he is hypoallergenic. He WILL require regular coat maintenance/grooming as well as consistent exercise and mental stimulation. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
