Story
James was adopted into a home with other dogs but is having difficulty with sharing the home. His adopter has made the difficult decision to rehome James. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Doberman/Akita. He is neutered and was just seen at the vet for a check up. When asked to describe James, we were told he is loving, playful and quick to learn. If you are looking to add an easy companion who prefers the company of people over other animals, send us an email at support@almosthomeri.org We are asking a donation be made to the rescue in lieu of our standard adoption fee.

Story
Meet Clancy is you want a walking buddy look no further. Clancy does not need doggie day care or a fenced yard he just needs you to walk him a mile or more as many times a day as you want. He see's his leash and he is ready to GO. He was brought to the shelter because his gorgeous coat requires upkeep. His previous owners couldn't keep up with his grooming needs. To stay handsome and tangle-free, he will need regular visits to the groomer. He is currently crate trained and loves a big crate with lots of space to hang out. He is fostered with other dogs of different ages and sized and he has had no issues. He does not seem to need a dog around as long as he has his person. He has not lived with children that we know of so we would suggest children over 7. He is also not cat tested. Clancy is very loving and after the long walks he will curl up with you and be your best friend. So please put your walking shoes on and let Clancy lead the way to all kinds of fun adventures.Name: ClancyBreed: Poodle/Pom  (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 2 years 1 month (estimated as of 7/11/26)Weight: 12 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 7Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    Tennessee IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Age:   approx 5 years old (Mia)  6 years old ( Coco)  Weight: 12  lbs and 13 pounds My adoption fee is $ 975  which includes transportation charges to the Northeast. Coco is a 6-year-old Poodle/Terrier mix weighing about 13 lbs, surrendered to us alongside his best friend, Mia . These two are a bonded pair and take great comfort in navigating the world together. Like Mia, Coco is fearful in new situations and needs time to feel safe. Compared to Mia, he has a more dominant, confident presence and often takes the lead when the two are together. Once he settles in, his curiosity really shines — especially when food is involved! Treats are a great way to earn his trust and help him explore new things. Coco is still learning house manners and will need continued potty training, along with patience and positive reinforcement. In a familiar, safe environment, he’s already beginning to show more of his playful, inquisitive side, particularly when he’s with Mia. Coco would thrive in a calm, understanding home that respects his boundaries, embraces his food motivation, and keeps him together with his bonded companion. With time and consistency, he has so much potential to grow into a confident and loving little guy.   Mia is a 5-year-old Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a soft grey coat, a tiny 12-lb body, and a heart that’s still learning how to feel safe. She was surrendered with her best friend, Coco , and the two are a bonded pair who find comfort and confidence in each other. Mia is very fearful when first meeting new people or experiencing new environments. She may freeze, hide, or take time to observe — she’s not sassy or aggressive, just scared. The good news? Once she feels safe (especially with familiar people), her happy, playful curiosity comes out, and she loves showing it off alongside Coco. She’ll need help with potty training and will do best with a patient, understanding home that lets her move at her own pace. A consistent routine and gentle, positive reinforcement will go a long way in helping her continue to build confidence. With time, love, and her pal Coco by her side, Mia has all the ingredients to truly blossom.   If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/July 15, 2026, 10:46 pm
