Story
Dominique is an extremely handsome, very social, black with a touch of white on his chest, male standard poodle born on 3/4/23. He currently weighs about 60 pounds and is a burning, burning hunk of love for sure, so it goes without saying that Dominique loves attention and is ready to bond with his special human. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, received a Proheart 6 shot and is also being kept on flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. His adoption donation is $700 plus $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Dominique the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Meet Alfalfa!Oh, Alfalfa 😍This two year old poodle mix is something else!Weighing in at just under 50lbs, Alfalfa is definitely NOT a miniature poodle. He's a big boy with a big personality and a big ol' scruffy beard!Alfalfa is a friendly, happy-go-lucky boy that has the best tip-tappy-toe dance when he gets excited - especially when you talk to him in an excited baby voice. He's a big ham for attention and he's SUPER smart (of course he is, he's a poodle). He knows so many cues and has such a fantastic foundation of training for you to build on...but be warned. When you say "up", he takes that to mean "try to fly" and all four feet come straight up off of the floor. He's not super enthusiastic about toys. He gets excited and he'll run after them but he'd much rather focus on the people he's with. He's a gentle boy when taking treats from you and walks pretty well on a leash for his size (so he doesn't drag you all over creation). He loves other dogs (and tends to get flirty with the ladies) and has a healthy respect for cats so would do well in a home with either...or both! As far as kids go, we could be comfortable with kids 8+ as long as the family has experience with dogs and the child knows how to be respectful and there won't be any tail or ear pulling. His previous owner did mention that he has some separation anxiety. We haven't witnessed this here in the shelter (but of course the shelter environment is wildly different to a home environment) but someone who can be home with him a majority of the time would be a good idea.To apply for Alfalfa, you can visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

Story
Meet Jimmy!Jimmy is shy. Very shy. Everyday is like his first day of school all over again. If you don't have the time or the patience to win over a dog or if you want an extroverted social butterfly right off the bag, Jimmy is definitely not for you. Jimmy is a four year old poodle mix weighing about 24lbs. He previously lived with other dogs and did fine with them though he much prefers dogs that aren't all over him immediately so he has time to get his bearings. He's afraid of cats because of course he is. Since he's so nervous, kids 12+ would be best.Once he warms up to you, Jimmy is a quirky little companion that looks a little bit like a muppet but also a little bit like Falkor. Neverending Story who?Jimmy is a tough nut to crack but it will be worth it. His owner loved him very much and was so dedicated to him but unfortunately passed away and sent his entire world into a freefall. He needs a safe place to land before his personality can really blossom and he feels comfortable being himself. We would also consider fosters at this time to give him a place to decompress outside of the shelter.

Story
Bentley is a very loyal and loving boy. He's a bit of a Velcro dog, always close by. In spite of his large size, he is puppy like with his affectionate charm. It would probably be best if Bentley were in a home with older children. Even though he is incredibly sweet, he may accidentally knocked down small children.  For the most part he's pretty mellow, but when the spirit hits him, running around the yard is such a joy! You can see the happiness in each trot. His energy is enthusiastic and full of of positivity. The other foster dogs are drawn to Bentley. He is the life of the party.   He is heartworm negative and fully vetted. All of his vaccines are up-to-date and he has been microchipped. His adoption fee is $350 and that covers the cost of transport from Arkansas to New England.  Bentley was once in a loving home, but his dog mom was a victim of domestic violence and hospitalized indefinitely due to her injuries. The landlord contacted us regarding the welfare of Bentley.  He was taken into our rescue with several other doodles. A few of them have been placed in loving homes and are doing quite great. Do you think you have what it takes to give Bentley a loving home as well? ##2334311##
