ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Baron (called Bo-Bo by his foster family) is a handsome 8-year-old Schnauzer Mix that weighs 16lbs. He is a sweet, easy-going, and soulful guy with balanced playful/calm energy and an irresistible underbite! He is extremely smart, attentive, and eager to please – always checking in with his person to see if he is on the right track with things. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood, chasing squeaky stuffies (he doesn’t destroy them), and snuggling on the couch. Most of all, he is a “people-person” and prefers to stick close with his human. Bo-Bo has a dental scheduled (we are currently fundraising for this) so he will have healthy chompers. He can be a little apprehensive in new settings – new people, sudden movements and sounds can spook him so best to use a reassuring, gentle approach with him. For potty-time, Bo-Bo knows how to use the doggy door, but with another male dog in the house, can occasionally mark – this is usually temporary when adjusting to a new setting. He is good on a leash, calm and relaxed for car rides and behaves nicely during bath time. When it’s time to chill, Bo-Bo would love to cuddle up in bed next to you – UNDER the covers – and sleep all through the night. He is not a fan of being crated. He is a total sweetheart who would benefit from a daily routine, structure and LOVE. He can be somewhat picky with food (but he loves his Just Food for Dogs meals) and he takes treats gently. The best fit for Bo-Bo would be with a loving family/person who is home often and can spend time with him. He would do well with older children who are respectful and gentle – he currently lives with two 8-year-olds and is happy to snuggle with them on the couch or play a game of fetch. He would be good with a doggy pal but might actually prefer to be the only furry object of your affection. As a Schnauzer, he will require regular grooming. He's quite the little furry gentleman and will be a great addition to the family. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  April 24, 2025, 11:07 pm

Story
Maggie is a sweet 5 year old Schnauzer mix who loves who she knows. She’s playful, loving, and goofy. She is fearful toward new people. She has had behavioral issues when in uncomfortable situations since the day we got her. Maggie is completely kennel trained and house broken. She has gone through a lot of training and knows many commands as well.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Pollita! This little cutie was rescued from the streets of baja, Ensenada Mexico. Poor little pup was so weak, sick and mangie when she was rescued. Now, she is strong, healthy and a beautiful young pup. Pollita is your typical terrier, very loving, social and playful. She adores her foster mom but it did take her a day when she first arrived to settle in and trust her. She is still a bit apprehensive when meeting strangers and can try to retract and move away when strangers approach to touch her. She needs someone who is gentle and understands dogs to take it easy and win her trust. After all she did have a rough start in life and survived by evading humans who wanted to hurt her. Pollita (nick name for little chicken) reminds us of 'Tigger' of winnie the pooh jumping on his pogo stick. When she is happy and excited for attention ei human entered the room or its time to be fed she will jump pretty high around you which is hillarious. Pollita is very dog friendly with all dogs, big and small. She is great with indoor cats, she will try to chase outdoor cats for the 'fun of it' she is after all under 10 pounds and can run FAST. As of late January she is fostered in Casa De ARWOB along with several foster dogs and cats. She is crate trained and doing great. She is pretty quiet for a small breed dog but she can bark when she is excited especially when a human enters the room after not seeing them for a while. She adores being a lap dog and being loved on. Being a young teen and a energetic terrier we would love for her to be adopted by someone interested in enrolling in dog training to make sure she is a well mannered adult when she grows up and she would love a home with other pets in the home, if adopted as the only pet in the home she would be happy if she is kept socialized around fellow dog friends as she needs that frienship to be happy. Pollita is READY for adoption and will be making a debut at the MEGA adoption event comming up on 2/15 we hope you can make it and meet her! IF you would like to meet her before the event please submit applications online for review to schedule a meet and greet prior to the event at ARWOB.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Story
How this pet arrived: Lenny was brought in by a previous owner. At SDHS:Lenny has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home! Why Lenny might the one for you: Give this guy a good grooming and watch him glow. He is a beauty in the making. He is a cuddle dog wanting to cuddle. He is the sweetest guy who is waiting for his ship to come in. Could you be his ship? He wants comfort, care and love. Is that too much to ask? His eyes will sparkle, his tail will wag and he will wiggle with happiness if he knows that you are his trusted person and you will take care of him. He is house trained, few things frighten him, he loves car rides  but most of all, he wants to be spoiled. He wants space, soft beds, good food and a good human who has his back. He does not mind being brushed which is a good thing because he is blessed with the kind of coat that needs regular and frequent grooming. Will you make Lenny's day by coming to the shelter and telling him that his ship has come in and you are going to take him home where the love overflows and his dish is full?
