Story
Meet ButtonButton is a handsome young wire-haired terrier/Schnauzer mix, estimated to be around 2-3 years old, with striking golden-hazel eyes, a soft white chest, and an adorable little white mohawk that gives him a permanently mischievous look.Button loves being part of the action. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, a trail hike, or simply hanging out with his people, he's happiest when he's included. He's an active boy who enjoys exploring and has plenty of energy for adventures. One of Button's most charming traits is that he 'talks.' He'll often make funny little sounds and chatter when he's excited or trying to get your attention. He has a lot to say and isn't shy about sharing his opinions. When he's not out adventuring, Button has a goofy side. He loves relaxing on his back with all four legs in the air, soaking up attention and showing off his playful personality.Button is a smart boy who enjoys learning and working with his people. He has been doing well with his leash skills and continues to make great progress. He quickly figured out how to use the dog door and settled into his foster home's routine almost immediately, which is a great example of how intelligent and adaptable he can be.He is potty trained, though adopters should always expect a learning curve when any dog transitions into a new environment. Button is also pretty well crate trained and settles nicely when given structure and routine.Button is loyal, affectionate, and full of character. While he bonds deeply with his people, he can be a bit insecure when meeting new people and may take some time to warm up. Because of this, he's looking for an experienced home that understands how to build trust, advocate for their dog, and help him navigate situations that make him uncomfortable.Like many terrier mixes, Button can be sensitive to overstimulating environments. He has previously nipped at joggers who unexpectedly ran toward him on walks, so he is muzzle trained for situations where extra management may be helpful. His muzzle is simply a tool that allows him to safely enjoy outings while setting him up for success. In his day-to-day life, Button is generally a chill, easygoing guy who enjoys being with his people, exploring the world, and then relaxing at home. He just needs a family that understands his insecurities and will continue helping him build confidence.Button is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home that will appreciate his intelligence, enjoy his quirky conversations, and give him the structure, understanding, and companionship he thrives on.If you're looking for a dog with personality, charm, intelligence, and a best-friend attitude, Button may be the perfect match. To be considered for adoption, please submit a detailed adoption application so we can help ensure the best possible match for both Button and his future family.Apply at: www.K9ppr.orgJune 18, 2026, 1:11 pm

Story
Meet Urban Male DOB: June 14, 2021 Weight: 18 lbs Breed: Schnauzer Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Urban is a charming adult dog with a loving personality and a wonderful balance of energy and companionship. At 5 years old, he has moved beyond the puppy stage and settled into adulthood, making him an excellent choice for adopters looking for a dog with a mature temperament and established personality. Urban enjoys spending time with his people and being part of everyday life. Whether he's joining you for a walk, relaxing at home, or simply keeping you company throughout the day, he thrives on companionship and enjoys being included as part of the family. As a Schnauzer Mix, Urban is likely to be intelligent, alert, and eager to engage with his surroundings. Schnauzers are known for their loyalty, affectionate nature, and strong bonds with their families. They are wonderful companions who enjoy both activity and downtime with their favorite people. Urban would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily walks and exercise Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being His age makes him an ideal companion for adopters looking for a dog who still enjoys adventure and activity while having the maturity and stability that comes with adulthood. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Like all rescue dogs, Urban may need time to adjust to a new home, routine, and environment. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help him settle in and become the best version of himself. Urban will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Urban blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Urban will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Regular grooming and coat maintenance Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of his Schnauzer heritage, regular grooming and coat care will help keep him comfortable and looking his best. Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Urban thrive in his future home. Urban is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Johnny Boy ❤️ Johnny Boy is a beautiful Tibetan Terrier mix who has come an incredibly long way since I rescued him from the San Diego Humane Society when he was just four months old. His story began with fear, confusion, and heartbreak. One day, I received a frantic phone call from a woman desperately searching for her lost puppy. Through tears, she explained that Johnny was part of an accidental litter and that she had carefully placed all of the puppies into loving homes. When it came time for Johnny to meet his new family, the introduction took place on a busy street in Escondido. The loud lawn mowers, leaf blowers, motorcycles, and constant traffic were overwhelming for such a sensitive young puppy. As his owner handed him over, Johnny was accidentally dropped. Terrified, he bolted. A frantic chase followed, and when they finally caught him, he was frozen in fear. Despite witnessing how frightened he was, the family assured his original owner that they would give him time to decompress and adjust. Sadly, just a few hours later, they decided he was 'too scared,' placed him in their garage, and ultimately surrendered him to a shelter. When I learned what had happened, my heart broke for him. The shelter contacted me about a terrified puppy who was huddled in the corner of his kennel, so frightened that he was defecating from fear. The moment I saw his photo, I knew it was Johnny Boy. I immediately agreed to take him and picked him up the very next morning. That decision changed his life. At first, Johnny was scared of everything. But with patience, consistency, and the help of my own dogs, he slowly began to understand that he was safe. My dogs showed him how to trust, and little by little, his sweet personality began to shine through. Today, Johnny Boy is a happy, healthy, and incredibly loving dog. He loves playing with other friendly dogs, going to the dog park, running on the beach, riding in the car, and playing with his toys. He is kennel trained, obedient, gentle when taking treats, and respectful around other dogs during mealtime. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Johnny forms deep bonds with the people he trusts and absolutely adores other dogs, regardless of their size. His sensitive soul is one of the things I love most about him. Because of his past, Johnny is still sensitive to people's energy and will need a patient adopter who understands that trust is earned. He would do best with a calm female owner and a friendly canine companion who can continue helping him build confidence. Johnny Boy's Ideal Home: ✔️ A loving and patient adopter✔️ Preferably a female owner✔️ Another friendly dog to play and bond with✔️ A home with a secure fenced yard✔️ Located in San Diego County or surrounding areas Johnny Boy has overcome so much in his young life. All he ever needed was someone willing to give him the time and love he deserved. Now he's ready to find the forever family that will cherish him for the rest of his life. If you think Johnny Boy could be the perfect addition to your family, please complete an adoption application at tlck9rescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 18, 2026, 2:44 pm
