At just 10–12 months old and a mere 4.8 pounds, this Yorkie/Cairn Terrier mix may be small in size, but she brings main-character energy to every room she enters. She came to DPS from a shelter after being abandoned with her brother, Cliffhanger, and while that may have been an abrupt opening chapter, Plot Twist is clearly ready for a much happier sequel.   Plot Twist starts her mornings around 6 a.m., waking up excited and ready to see what the day’s story holds. At night, she sleeps either in her crate next to the bed or on a small dog bed nearby— she very much prefers to keep her favorite human within arm’s reach. First thing in the morning, she heads outside and zooms around to find just the right spot to take care of business, though she does best when her person stays outside with her so she doesn’t get distracted checking in. After that, she’s perfectly content curling up on a lap to watch the morning news while coffee is poured.   Meals are a highlight of her day. Plot Twist loves food—truly all food— and is fed three times daily using a slow-feeding mat. She’s happily gaining a little weight to support her health, though she’ll always remain delightfully tiny and easy to take along on adventures. During the morning hustle, she enjoys supervising the school-age kids as they get ready, making sure everyone stays on task. When the house empties out, she does best settling into her crate or safe space, where she may voice her opinions briefly before relaxing.   Once her people return, Plot Twist happily resumes her role as office assistant during the workday, rotating between lap time, her small bed, and outdoor breaks. She thrives on attention and affection and is happiest when she can be part of the action. In the early afternoon, she enjoys a walk and is fantastic on leash— confident, curious, and surprisingly sturdy for such a small dog. She even has the stamina for a walk to the coffee shop and back, where she excels as a polite and charming patio companion.   Plot Twist has a joyful, affectionate personality that really shines. She is a classic “velcro” dog who loves closeness, though she’s respectful when redirected and settles well when guided to her own space. She enjoys zooming around the yard and playing, but can go from full-speed to fully relaxed the moment she’s picked up and placed on a lap.   Plot Twist has been wonderful with children ages five and up. She lives with two cats and shows no interest in them. She is brave and unfazed by the big, noisy things in life—leaf blowers and garbage trucks don’t rattle her confidence one bit. She previously lived with her brother while at the shelter and has met other dogs through DPS. While she's an option to join another dog in the home, she will also be content being your one and onyl.   She is still learning the finer points of housetraining and does best with frequent trips outside or easy access to an outdoor area. She doesn’t require grass and seems equally happy going on mulch or sidewalk. She responds beautifully to praise and food rewards and is eager to learn. She does not chew or dig, and while she has found her voice as she’s grown more comfortable, her barking is typically brief and settles with reassurance or attention. Despite acting perpetually hungry, she does not resource guard.     What truly sets Plot Twist apart is her ability to turn everyday moments into something special. As soon as she felt healthy, she was ready to experience the world— coffee shops, walks, laps, and all— with enthusiasm and charm. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be someone’s best friend, confidante, and favorite plot development all rolled into one. With Plot Twist, life is sweeter, cozier, and full of delightful surprises.February 2, 2026, 8:44 pm
