Story
Basil is approx 3 yrs old and 43 lbs, he looks like a schnauzer/ terrier mix , and maybe some bassett as he is a low rider, but we have no idea of what breeds he has in his DNA He’s overall a good dog, but needs an experienced adopter, he is very timid and shy and takes a while to warm up to new people He gets along with the other rescues and loves to run and play in the yard with them but can be pushy to new dogs that come into his fosters home and will try to nip Until he knows them and we feel he will be better as an only dog or with one buddy his size or bigger and no children He can be hard to put a leash on as he is scared of a leash and could do with some training , he loves to sit in his fosters office while she is working and stays very quietly He will come when you call him and goes inside when told to He seems to be very well house trained and will need a fully fenced in and secure yard , he’s a sweet boy that just needs the right home and loving owner THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE IN HOUSTON, TEXAS,WE SHIP OUR DOGS WITH MIGHTY MUTTS SHIPPING TO THE NORTH EAST OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with experienced dog owners only. WE REQUIRE VET RECORDS ON YOUR CURRENT OR PAST DOG FOR OUR REVIEW. I'm As she learns to enjoy the company of her fellow canines to the fullest extent, Gigi's playful side will shine through, making her an excellent companion for both humans and four-legged friends alike. Story
Come see toto at Westbrook Outlet at 314 Flat Rock Place, Westbrook CT on October 26th and 27th, 20924 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF OUR DOGS PLEASE APPLY ONLINE IMMEDIATELY. See www.godogdays.org for details. Here is more information about me: GENERAL BEHAVIOR AND IDEAL HOME: stray, sweet submissive boy Most rescues will not adopt out dogs including puppies families with children under the age of 6 years old. Rescues will not allow dogs or puppies to go to homes where they will be crated during the work day. The rescue has noticed this dog is generally good with dogs. However dogs, like people, act differently in different settings and a new adopter should expect there will be an adjustment period of time before before the dog settles in to a new home. At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. GENERAL VETERINARY CARE: I have been ~ spayed/neutered ~ microchipped ~ dewormed ~ heartworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older) ~ up to date on all age appropriate shots ~ treated with a flea preventative ADOPTION FEES Rescues participating in our events are not allowed to charge more than $450 an adoption fee and some adoption fees are much less - it depends on what the rescue chooses to charge - Dog Days does not take any portion of the adoption fees. ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM: http://godogdays.org/find-my-new-best-friend.htm (Copy and paste to browser.) ADOPTION PROCESS - Before the Event If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero. -- A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference. -- If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. -- If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption weekend. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time. ADOPTION PROCESS - During the Event Weekend -- Plan on spending at least three to four hours going through the adoption process. We want you to be completely confident in your new pal so we will ask you to speak to a trainer, a veterinarian as well as interview with a member of our adoption team and the rescue. -- As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. -- PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE. -- At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home. See www.godogdays.org for details.u

Story
Meet Daisy! Daisy is coming up on a year old and has spent more than half of her young life growing up in the shelter. Let's get this adorable scruffy girl into a home. She's some kind of adorable scruffy terrier mix (but NOT a non-shedding or hypoallergenic coat) We thought she was going to grow bigger but she's topped out at only 30lbs, the perfect size. Having grown up in the shelter and already being a bit of shy puppy, she's not had a lot of positive real world experiences and her initial reaction is to be afraid and shut down when confronted with new people, places, and events. In her familiar environment here and with her familiar people, she's a funny spunky wild child who loves to race around the play yards, go for long walks, and wrestle with her doggie buddies. Car rides, strangers, and so many other things scare her but her friends here have been working on socializing her and helping her be more brave. Daisy would like a quieter home with a stable routine and structure where she can continue to learn. She gets along with compatible doggie friends (mostly playful males her size or bigger... all her playmates keep getting adopted and leaving her behind:() No kitties or tiny animals for her please, once she gets comfortable she can be a bit of a bully with them. But mostly she loves her people that make her feel safe and comfortable and will be a loyal cuddly best friend in the right home. Please submit an application for an appointment to meet Daisy Primary Color: Brindle Age: 1yrs 1mths 1wks
