Meet Penny Penny is a gorgeous, petite tabby with just a touch of orange on her forehead. Penny was born May 2025 and is ready to find her forever home Penny is one of nine kittens raised by our sweet Precious and she's an absolute love. Penny has always been a very sweet, calm kitten and would be great in a home with another kitty. She loves to play with her buddies then curl up in a purr pile. We would love for Penny to go home with one of her siblings, or into a home with a sweet, loving kitty. If you're looking for an adorable little snuggle buddy, Penny (and maybe her brothers Pepper, Ivan or Garth) might just be the one for you. Story
Meet Pumpkin Pumpkin is one of our beautiful fall kittens, colored bright orange just like the leaves here in the mountains. He and his brother were being happily raised with their mom Daisy, but their human mom faced some serious health challenges and could no longer care for them, so of course we rescued them all! He will probably be on the bigger side and is snuggly and loving. Pumpkin has short hair and a bright golden coat and just loves to play and cuddle. He always looks like he's about to get into mischief, so he will be a super fun addition to your family. He is neutered ready to find his forever home! Story
Meet Ellie Poor Ellie was rescued from a hoarding situation and taken to a kill shelter. The volunteers there fell in love with her and asked us to please rescue this six year old girl. We said of course!! Ellie has been with us a few months to decompress and we are hoping she can find her special home soon. She's still a bit shy, but loves the staff and regular volunteers who visit her. She loves to be pet and cuddled and will give them a nice purr in thanks. She wants so badly to be brave, but there are just too many changes and noises at a shelter for this gentle soul. We are hoping the special someone will come along and choose Ellie to live in a quiet home. She deserves it, and will return the love 100 times over. If you can offer a safe indoor home for Ellie, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. Story
Meet Butterscotch. Butterscotch came to us as a tiny kitten over a year ago, and is still trying to find his home. Some of his siblings were very social and quickly were adopted, but Butterscotch was just so shy for some reason. He is an orange ginger cat who is just so sweet! He's a little on the quiet side and welcomes a gentle approach but we've seen great improvement in his confidence since we moved him to the cat room. He will allow our volunteers to pet and love on him. He enjoys laser light and running on the exercise wheel. He has quickly connected with our Lion King cats (Simba, Mufasa, and Zazu). Like so many of our quieter cats, we are sure Butterscotch will thrive once he's in his forever home. If you can offer a safe indoor home for Butterscotch, and maybe one of his buddies, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org under the tab "How To Adopt." Story
Several years ago, two cats were abandoned at my home (Auggie & Boo), the owner was suppose return to get them in 3–6 months but they never did Recently, I found out I have asthma, and I’m allergic to cats. My cardiologist has strongly advised me to rehome them for health reasons. I’m 76 years old, have had 3heart attacks. Keeping them is putting my health in jeopardy-refuse to give them to a kill shelter, most rescures will not take a senior cats. Auggie is between 10–11 yrs old, he's is skittish at first, hisde when new people come to the house however once he gets to know somebody he's pretty reserved, likes to lay next to you in bed- he doesn't like loud noises. He & Boo (Boo is on this site) got along- they got along with 3 sdog but I'm not sure how they react to other dogs or cats. Would like to keep them together if at all possible you would help in rehoming. They spend most of your time sleeping and they will get any vermin in your house. they are good cats.

These cats are in Dahlonega, Georgia too!
