Story
Meet Shadow, a beautiful 10-year-old girl with a heart full of loyalty and so much love to give. Shadow faithfully stayed by her owner’s side during recovery from a hip replacement—truly a devoted, constant companion. Sadly, due to ongoing health challenges, her owner could no longer care for her, and Shadow came into our rescue. Once we spent more time with her, we discovered that Shadow is far more than “independent” — she is incredibly affectionate. She loves being petted and starts purring almost instantly when you touch her. She has the most expressive tail that happily whips and swishes when she’s content, and she absolutely enjoys chatting with her people. She will happily carry on little conversations with you throughout the day. Shadow would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can bond closely with her person. She has previously lived with other cats and small dogs and may do well with gentle companions, given proper introductions. She has excellent litter box habits, is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has had full bloodwork. She is a healthy senior with no medical concerns. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will purr the moment you reach for her, Shadow may be your perfect match. If you are interested in Shadow, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt (scroll down to the bottom for the application).

Story
Meet Taz! Taz is a spunky, affectionate 6-year-old guy who came to us when his owner could no longer care for him due to her own health issues. He’s a friendly, outgoing cat who truly enjoys people and would make a wonderful companion. Taz loves his wet food, enjoys playing with toys, and can often be found basking in a sunny spot after climbing to the very top of his cat tree—one of his favorite pastimes! He loves his people and will greet you at the door. He is super smart and knows how to play fetch - he will bring a toy right to you for you to throw again. He also likes to bring you gifts - toy mice and stuffed toy fish to show you that he loves you. His stuffed fish is his absolute favorite, as seen in the photo, and he will gift it to you on the bed overnight or by the back door, waiting for you to return from work. He has excellent litter box manners and an easygoing personality that makes him a great choice for a first-time cat owner. Taz is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and has had full bloodwork. He’s a healthy boy with no known medical issues and is ready to find his forever home. If you’re interested in adopting Taz, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or complete an adoption application here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt (Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application.) Taz is ready to bring love, sunshine naps, and plenty of personality into his new home!

Story
Chester is a year old very lovey, playful boy. He is amazing with dogs. Actually obsessed with them, he loves to cuddle all of the time. The only reason I am getting rid of this sweet boy is because his brother, and litter mate, is attacking him and I hate having to keep him in a small room for most of the day because his brother won’t leave him alone.

Story
Meet Oreo! Oreo is a 3-year-old sweetheart with a bit of an oddball personality and a love for the cozy life. Her favorite hobbies include lounging in a soft bed, curling up in a comfy cat tree, and quietly observing the world from her favorite perch. She can be a little timid when meeting new people, but with a little patience and a calm environment, she starts to feel safe. Once you’re in her inner circle, Oreo is all about the affection. Head scratchies and belly rubs quickly become her favorite thing, and she won’t be shy about asking for more with gentle head bumps once she knows she can trust you. Her gentle, laid-back nature makes her a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a calm and cuddly friend. Oreo is calicivirus positive, so she’ll do best as the only cat in the home or with other calici-positive feline friends. Submit an adoption survey at al-van.org/adopt.

Story
Meet Giles! And honestly… it’s about time this guy gets the spotlight he deserves. Giles has been with us for 546 days, making him our longest-stay cat. He’s shy, quiet, diabetic and too polite to demand attention, which means he often gets overlooked. This chill guy loves sunbeams, soft pets, and—plot twist—playing with the kittens like he’s the fun uncle at a family reunion. In a home, he’d be the easiest companion: calm, gentle, and happy just existing peacefully by your side. Giles does take daily diabetes medication, but don’t let that scare you off. To help him start his new life, Al-Van will provide a three-month supply of his diabetes meds for whoever gives him the forever home he’s been waiting way too long for. If you want to make his birthday wish come true, submit an adoption application at al-van.org/adopt. Four years old, 546 days waiting… let’s make sure this is the last birthday he celebrates in a shelter.
